Ford%26#8243; Mustang became the fastest selling car in history with over a million sold with in the first production year; despite their popularity certain editions are almost unheard of. Such is the case with this Mustang convertible. Pink was never offered as a color choice from Ford%26#8243; factory, but Playboy Pink is one of the few exceptions. Playboy Pink was a factory special-order color to commemorate the custom pink Mustang given to Playmate of the year in 1964; for the next few years each Playmate of the year was awarded with that model year Playboy Pink Mustang. Contrary to popular belief, these Mustangs were not exclusively owned by Playmates; any customer could place a special-order from Ford and have a Playboy Pink Mustang. Production numbers where never released of how many first generation Playboy Pink Mustangs were created, but the number is believed to be extremely low; making those Mustangs extremely desirable. Fearing public backlash from being associated with Playboy, Ford never officially recognized that color in factory records.From looking at the door jams, underside of the dash, hood, and removing the carpet and other characteristics from factory paint jobs; we made the judgement that this appears to be a factory painted Playboy Pink Mustang. With that being stated, the paint is in very good condition with only minor scratches and imperfections. The body panels are straight and show very minor signs of exterior contact. Both front and rear bumpers appear to have been replaced, they are near perfect with no signs of age or damage to be found. Most of the exterior chrome trim is in very similar condition as the bumpers too. A white manual convertible top compliments the Playboy Pink exterior extremely well and is also in fantastic condition.Taking a step inside a very clean and original interior greets the eye. Two front bucket white vinyl seats, which appear to be the original material, are in very good condition. There are no tears or discoloration that would be worth noting in the seats. Most of the interior chrome accessories and badges are in their place and in very good condition, only showing very minor signs of age. New black carpet lines the floorboards, which of course is in fantastic condition from doing so. All of the gauges are original, as well as, the steering wheel and very good working condition. The original horn in the steering wheel works but is inconsistent in its operation. Factory air-conditioning was optioned on this Mustang; the original controls are present; however the compressor does not engage. An older Kenwood Anac radio is in the dashboard, however the original Philco radio is still with the car, just not in use. The stereo benefits from upgraded Polk speakers in both doors and rear seat, these speakers have a vastly improved sound quality.Mechanically this Mustang is powered by a 302ci V8 which replaced the 289ci V8 that previous model years were given. Making a healthy 220hp and 300lb-ft this Ford small block has more than enough muscle to match today%26#8243; muscle cars. Bringing fuel to the engine is the stock 2-barrel carburetor and intake manifold with the original air filer cover. Dual exhausts with twin-tips expel the gasses with the distinctive Mustang engine note. Mated with Ford%26#8243; 302 is a 3-speed automatic transmission, converting horsepower into forward acceleration. Usually known for luxury models that focused on ride comfort, plush interiors, and easy drivability; developing a sports roadster was quite a tangent for Cadillac. The XLR-V is a true roadster with the benefits of a hardtop coupe. The retractable hard-top was a joint development project between Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. There were no options offered on the V model; since every normal XLR option was included to the V series. Coming standard with the normal XLR was heated/cooled leather seats, Bose stereo system, 7%26#8221; navigation/DVD touch screen, and keyless entry. Beyond those features Cadillac%26#8243; tuning department, referred to as V, got ahold of the car and made it into a true sports roadster.Starting with the completely reworked 4.4L supercharged Northstar V-8 that makes 442hp and 414lb-ft; this was accomplished by increasing the compression to 9:1, stronger piston heads, and four intercoolers to help cool the roots style supercharger. To handle the increased horsepower, the suspension was stiffened with thicker sway-bars, springs, and Cadillacs all-new Magnetic Ride Control. To make sure onlookers know that this XLR has been tuned by V%26#8243; engineers a wire mesh grill, more aggressive front bumper and spoiler, wider fender-flares, and many V and Supercharged badges were added. Also setting the V apart from the normal XLR was the addition of larger 19%26#8221; chrome wheels that were necessary to clear the large cross-drilled brakes borrowed from the Corvette.We just obtained this stunning two-owner XLR-V from a meticulous owner who had traded it in for a 1964 Ford Thunderbird we had in our inventory. Since there are only 14,288 miles on this XLR-V it is in spectacular condition. The paint is in fantastic condition with a few very minor flaws, but shows extremely well. There are no dents or door dings to be found, the wheels are the same and have never been curbed. The interior is the same story, the leather shows a little wear and the Alcantara inserts look and feel great. Even the user interface buttons do not show any wear marks as well as the steering wheel. With such few miles the 4.4L supercharged engine is barely broken-in, it pulls hard and smooth. There are few minor imperfections, such as rock chips, but overall the Mustang does show very well.
