Hello, and thanks for looking at my auction! This is :1956 Chevrolet Truck3600 model, considered "3/4 ton"Inline 6 cylinder 235 cubic inch (high-pressure version)Four speed floor shift, with granny gearThe above are either original or "period correct" - items could have been replaced over the past 60 years. Other nice old-school features preserved in this truck include the foot starter, hand choke, and propeller shaft style parking brake (all of which work) However, there are some updates that make the truck more livable, like upgraded HEI ignition and electric wipers (upgraded from vacuum). The rear gear ratio has been changed from 4.57 to 4.11 to make the truck a little more streetable. A modern alternator was put on some time ago (the truck was 12v from the factory), and the radiator is new. I drive it on weekends to the trash station, or sometimes to the hardware store. I generally will take a different vehicle to town, but won't hesitate to drive it if I need the larger flatbed to haul items. The factory GVWR is 6900, which is the highest possible 1956 weight configuration below the one ton models. I consider this like a "farm truck" - it is coming up on 60 years old. It is loud and rattles. The steering could not be described as "tight", but it isn't that bad (or I'm used to it?). The six is no speed demon, but it chugs along well. The lights all work except for the dome light. The driver door glass is cracked, and has been for years. The driver door hinges need to be realigned by someone better than me. It takes a good slam to latch it. Most of the gauges don't work (the dash lights do work), including the odometer. The heater blower isn't working at the moment, and I suspect wiring. The steering wheel has cracks and marks, and the seat has some tears. I'm sure there are other little things that could be replaced (just noticed wiper blades are shot). As far as rust, please look at the photos closely. You can see that it is time to sand and primer again (unless you like 'patina'). The worst part of the rust is rustthrough above the windshield. The exhaust pipe has rusted out and should be replaced. The muffler is no longer there. On the bright side, the cab corners are good, the floorboards are solid, and the stepwells are good, too. The flatbed is great. It could use a little sand and spray, but it is in good shape. It's eight feet long, and a few inches more than six feet wide between the wood. The door to the gooseneck is spot welded closed. The taillights are LED. I wouldn't recommend using the gooseneck (again, 60 year old truck). I used to regularly haul 220 gallons of water in the bed for a very short distance (one mile on very rural, no-traffic roads). Good truck for hauling things to the dump and such. I really like having this truck around, but I need to replace my daily driver. Clear title in hand. True mileage unknown due to odometer not functioning and exceeding mechanical limits. Located about 15 miles from Blacksburg, VA. Ask questions early and often.
