In 1949, all the Chevrolets got the first new styling after the war.[5] The Deluxe was the brand new upper-end model for Chevrolet. The cheapest Deluxe was the Deluxe Styleline 6-passenger sedan, costing $1,492.[5] Brakes were 11-inch drums.[7] It had full instrumentation.[7] The front suspension had stabilizers.[7]Many things changed starting in 1950, starting with a luxuriously-appointed hardtop coupe, called the Bel Air. The new Bel Air including upgraded cord and leather-grain vinyl trim (available in a choice of several two-tone schemes), full carpeting and other appointments not available in even the Deluxe series, and a wide range of two-tone paint schemes. The 1950-1952 Bel Airs—during these early years, the Bel Air was officially part of the Deluxe range—shared only their front sheetmetal ahead of the A-pillar with the rest of the range. The windshield, doors, glass, and trunk were common with the Styleline convertible, but the roof, rear quarters and rear windows were unique.The other change was the availability of Powerglide, a two-speed automatic transmission, exclusively in the Deluxe and Bel Air models. It was powered by a 235-cubic inch six-cylinder engine developing 105 horsepower and had a 3.55:1 rear differential; the engine went on to become the "Blue Flame six." Models sold with the standard three-speed manual transmission got the usual 216.5-cubic inch engine, developing 92 horsepower.Throughout the post-war years, many comfort, convenience and styling options were available, including tinted glass which was introduced in 1952, the final year for this style. Popular Mechanics rated fuel economy of 20mpg at 50mph.[8]After the end of the 1952 model year, the old nameplates—Special and Deluxe—were retired, and changed to 150 and 210, respectively, with trim similar to their respective former series. The Bel Air model became a full series, including two- and four-door sedans, station wagon and convertible; and represented the top-end model with features similar to the 1950-1952 models (luxury interior, full carpeting and other features).

The body is laser straight with great fit of all the panels. All the stainless looks great as does the glass. When you look at the chrome you can see the bumpers look new as well as the door handles. All the weather stripping appears to have been replaced as well as the windshield seal. The body is covered in the Fathom Green paint that is accented by the White Top and of course the simulated wood on the sides. Staying with the style of the day it's fitted with Wide-White Tires and Painted Rims with rings and caps. Next, we will take a look at the interior of the Wagon. On the inside it's done in tan and brown. The seats are covered in tan vinyl with the carpet being brown. The dash looks all correct and is painted the body color. The doors has the wooden panels and trim as well as the rear side panels. The headliner is brown cloth with the wood bows and trim. The interior on this wagon is done just it would have been when new. Finally, we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it's all stock with the 235 L6 Engine. It has the Three Speed Trans. Also, it has the stock drum brakes and steering. The engine bay is painted correct as far as we can tell. As expected, with a well cared for antique that has been enjoyed, there are a few paint concerns - just a few. The paint shines beautifully with no noticeable crazing. The interior as well as brightwork appear new. This coupe starts up right away and runs well. Driving the car we encountered some handling abnormalities. Our 120 point condition check subsequently revealed a few non lethal concerns. The most significant issues are front wheel bearing play, worn control arm bushings, King pin play. I am selling my 1951 Chevrolet Club Coupe Deluxe, it has its original 216 engine, new gas tank, new shock absorbers and springs, new bumpers front and rear, interior has already been redone to a grey color. All gauges work, the dash say 31k miles but actual miles are unknown. The floors has been patched up by the previous owner but the original floors still underneath, the spare tire well has been patched as well. There is a bit of rust under the car as seen in the photos. The car is sold as is no guarantees. The car runs and drives no problem but the engine leaks a tiny bit of oil. Around the windshields there are bubbles in between the layers of glass.
