This car runs and drives nicely & the brakes are working well. It will make someone a really nice driver with a repaint. It is also a good start to a street rod type build if desired. I just got this car recently and thought I would repaint it this winter. My wife said neither she nor the kids will ride in this with no seat belts.. I found another 57 with good paint and a bolt in roll cage with belts so I have to get this one sold. This car spent it's entire life in Monmouth IL where it was sold new. The 3rd owner worked at the local Chevy dealer where he restored it in 1985 with new rockers, quarters and original style interior. I have a few old pictures of the restoration that show the new rockers and lower quarters. More recently, the car has had a brake job with new wheel cylinders, new fuel tank and sending unit along with various small mechanical repairs. The floor and frame are solid but covered in undercoat. I will get the car on jack stands soon and add images of the underside. All GM parts were supposedly used on the car with the exception of the right rear bumper, which is aftermarket. That piece has peeling chrome and needs to be replaced. For about the last 10 years this car was sitting in a barn under a car cover. Moisture got under the paint and popped it in many places and blistered all over the car. I picked off the paint in several places to be sure it is metal under the paint and not body filler. This is really a solid car that just needs stripped down and painted. It is not full of body filler. The interior is holding up well but does have some staining on the passenger door panel as shown. The headliner is original and also has some stains. The stainless all looks really nice. All the chrome looks like it will polish up nicely except for the right rear bumper. The engine is still running strong and the powerglide shifts well. They are both dripping a little oil after parking it but that is to be expected. You will need to replace the exhaust. The tail pipe has separated from the muffler. The gas guage is not currently working. You can see there is still nearly full tread on the bias ply tires. Pick up in Springfield IL or use Uship or similar logistics companies to arrange shipping. For Sale is my 1955 Chevy 4 door Bel AIr. I bought it to make a daily driver. I have come to realize I have too many projects in the works.This car has a clean title in my hand. It would be a very nice daily driver as it sits or could be easily restored.I drove this car on and off my car trailer. Engine has miss in it as if valves are sticking or it may need an adjustment or valve job.Clutch and transmission shift perfectly.Brakes are in good condition. The front left wheel was tight and I could not back of adjuster enough so I removed brake shoes from left front to push car around. Shoes and hardware are in the trunk.The door panels have been removed to inspect doors, they too are in the trunk.Body mounts at the frame are in excellent condition from what I can see.Flloors could use panels installed. Trunk looks good. Bottoms of doors are there with some rust perforation.This car is sold as is where is.I will accept $500 deposit using PayPal within 24 hours of auction's end.Car is located in Springfield, Il.
