1957 Chev 150 2dr Sedan 283-270 HP with dual 4s and factory 3 speed Same family owners from Lovelock, Nevada for over 50 years. The grandson of the original owner inherited the car in 1980 after his grandfather’s passing, parked it in the family barn with barely 42,000 original miles and never drove it again. Upon the grandson’s death in November 2008, the County of Pershing, NV held an estate sale in May of 2009 and auctioned off the car. An extremely meticulous Chevy enthusiast from Placerville, CA was the winning bidder and soon began restoring (but not over-restoring) this amazing, low-mileage, rust-free survivor. The car has been stripped down and repainted in the original “Matador Red”All chrome has been beautifully replatedOriginal stainless trim has been polishedOutstanding original glass100% FACTORY ORIGINAL upholstery, door panels and headlinerThe rubber floor covering is correct reproductionFully rebuilt 283 with rare “997” headsCorrect solid lifter “Duntov” camshaftCorrect carbs and dual-four intake manifoldFully restored “batwing” air cleanerExtremely rare “Fenton” cast iron headers that were used on the famed “Black Widow” NascarsOriginal 3 speed manual transmissionOriginal 3.55 ratio rear axleOriginal “spiral” shock absorbersOriginal spare, jack and trunk matNew aluminized exhaust systemNew gas tank and sending unitNew fuel lines, brakes lines and much more The car is rock solid and rust free with 100% original sheet metal. The engine bay and undercarriage have been thoroughly cleaned (not “rattle canned” or detailed) showing the cars true integrity. Included with the car is owner history, pre-restoration photos, Nevada plates, owner’s manual and $1000s in restoration receipts. Current mileage reads 43,870. ditrisd Store Up for sale is my 1958 Chevy Biscaye 4-Door w/283 V8 Automatic. SCROLL DOWN for TONS of pictures, I think I've got about 50 down at the bottom of the listing. The good:The engine runsNo shifting problems with the transmissionThe power steering components and suspension are in fine working orderAll the indicators, headlights, Windshield wipers, Horn and gauges work (although the turn signals don't automatically return anymore)Just replaced the rear axle housing & upper control arm & carrier bearing. (allowed me to get some pics underneath her while she was on the lift)Tires have 95% of tread leftThe brakes have been converted from Drum to Disc in the front.Rear brakes are at 6mm remaining, front brakes at 8mmI had a new exhaust installed a few years back, so that is solid as well. The bad:Cylinder #7 has low compressionOil drain plug has been removed & installed so many times over the years that there is a small crack in the area around it, & it leaks oil there as well as several other places. There are some small power steering fluid leaks (and may have some tranny fluid leaks, but frankly there is so much other fluid there it is hard to tell)The body has tons of bondo & rust/rot spots. I tried to capture most of them with the pics. The back window leaks a bit, so there is mildew in/around the back seat, headrest area, etcRear drivers side door window is cracked, but still can be rolled up & down without problems. There is a slight clicking noise that sounds like it is from the transmission when the car is put into reverse. Not present in any other gear. The interior is shot. Seat covers are eroding and separating. The front bench is being held together with duct tape & the back of it has separated & is currently being supported by a cardboard box on the back seat. The visors have most of the cloth worn away & the insulation is showing and has mostly fallen off. The head liner is brownish and has a couple tears. No door panels are present. The trunk looks like a piece of sheet metal was bolted over a rusty deck to 'make it whole' again. The body side trunk lip is solid, but the lip on the lid is starting to rust pretty good with some separation at the edges in spots. The recess for the spare tire has a few spots where you can see thru to the ground. It is a bit of a hard cold start if she has been sitting for several days. And I have had some issues with small backfires/misfires lately, so I think she needs a tune-up and probably have the timing adjusted.Almost all of the stainless trim is missing. So, in summary, this is a project. She runs, drives, turns & stops, but will need some attention to be a reliable daily driver. I am sorry, but I don't need any trades right now. Selling as is with no warranty. Please contact me with any questions.
