A killer custom that mixes storied Detroit muscle with sublime SoCal style, this impressive Chevy wraps a supercharged 540/3-speed drivetrain in supple leather trim and slick pearlescent paint. If you're looking for an incredible hot rod that's every bit as classy, and twice as cool, as a stuffy concours car, this exceptional tri-five is primed, polished and ready to rumble! BODYWORK/TRIM Possessing straight and solid lines that virtually glow under our bright showroom lighting, this wicked 210 is the beneficiary of a high quality, ground-up restoration that was completed roughly two years ago. The car's thoroughly massaged fuselage has been augmented with fresh chrome, color-keyed emblems and a full outfit of dark-tint glass. Custom touches include LED taillights, LED parking lamps, dual-mode HID headlights, capped wipers and a reworked hood. And today, this awesome bowtie rolls as a fresh and intriguing smile machine that, despite modification, easily upholds the clean, simplistic charm that's characteristic of Chevy's beloved 210. ENGINE By now, it's probably pretty apparent that this classic was built to be seen. But, thanks to the car's 540 cubic inch supercharged V8, that might be easier said than done! At the top of that polished and painted mill, a shotgun-style air cleaner feeds chromed Quick Fuel Technology carburetors, which are fitted with braided hoses, polished fluid lines and a liquid-filled MQQN Equipment pressure gauge. Below those carburetors, a big Mooneyham blower funnels a perfect air/fuel mixture in to high quality Brodix heads, which are capped with polished and etched valve covers. Fires get lit by an MSD Pro-Billet distributor, which jolts green Taylor plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator, which rides between a big pusher fan, a polished expansion tank and a Mr. Gasket ThermoCap. Spent gases exit through large-diameter Doug's headers. An array of billet pulleys spins a coated Edelbrock water pump between polished timing components and a chrome Powermaster alternator. And the car's glossy, body-matched engine compartment is exceptionally well done, with items like trick dipsticks, Allstar breather tanks and Billet Specialties hood hinges upping the ante for both performance and aesthetics. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Not surprisingly, the bottom of this show worthy Chevy continues the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology. Behind the awesome engine, a tough Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed makes good use of a narrowed axle. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. Speed gets scrubbed by polished Wilwood calipers, which utilize a CPP master cylinder and proven Hydratech hydraulics to clench drilled and slotted rotors. A large-diameter exhaust system hangs compact cutouts in front of small resonators and large Magnaflow mufflers. The car's body-matched frame and floorpans are a stark contrast to a custom, Satin Black suspension, which floats sturdy ladder bars, tubular control arms and adjustable QA-1 coil-overs under full wheel tubs. That hardware rolls on a sweet set of chrome wheels, which spin 26x10R18 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs, and 20x18R20 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs, around Billet Specialties spinners. And fully sorted details, like a custom oil pan, a custom fuel tank, a Mallory fuel pump and a heavy-duty transmission cooler, ensure this classic is capable of years of carefree cruising. INTERIOR Like most ground-up builds, this 210 features a completely reworked interior. The highlights of that leather-lined cockpit include a custom suede headliner, custom side panels, custom bucket seats, a custom package tray and a custom, full-length console. That quartet of seats mixes modern lap belts with power adjustment for the car's driver. Those side panels hang billet handles and polished accents beneath green toppers and dice lock knobs. The aforementioned console flows through modern Pioneer audio, a beefy TCI shifter and stainless cupholders. At the floor, premium, green-lit carpet floats stitched mats under billet pedals. At the front of that carpet, a color-keyed dash anchors digital telemetry in polished, Chevrolet-branded trim. In front of the driver, a polished and half-wrapped steering wheel laps a polished, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered trunk hides a bit of storage space. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ACCESSORIESA small CTEK battery charger This vivid Chevy wraps serious go power, a rock-solid gear grinder and a spectacular personality in professional, six-figure aesthetics. Sure, that's a really cool car, but what about enthusiasts who want a little less nostalgia and a lot more attitude? Well friends, fear not, because RK Motors Charlotte has something for you too! The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this national award-winning Chevrolet Sedan Delivery is a fully sorted ambassador of swagger that you can invest in, drive around in and build some serious credibility in. Featuring an equal emphasis on both show and go, it seats a killer 502/700R4 drivetrain, fully custom suspension and supple leather trim in one of the most incredible hot rods we've ever seen! If you've been searching for a striking '50s showpiece, but want something that's more unique than a run-of-the-mill tri-five, this spectacular Chevy's excellent combination of vintage style and timeless class simply can't be beat! BODYWORK/TRIM The product of high quality restoration that was conducted by two body shops, this slick wagon features a lust worthy appearance that's ready to burn down the Manufacturers' Midway! The build began when Steve's Auto Restorations of Portland, Oregon replaced the car's factory lead and sealed everything in a thick coat of protective primer. With a solid foundation laid, Steve Cooley Motors of Homosassa, Florida followed subtle modification with a custom combination of Corvette LeMans Blue and Cadillac Sand Effect DuPont Chroma Premier 2-stage. And today, countless hours and over six-figures later, this Chevy rolls as a lights-out show car that's been deservedly fawned over by some of the biggest names in the business. As a classic car owner, you really can't go wrong with any '50s Chevy. But for many people, the division's '57 model essentially perfected the art. Take a look at this gorgeous wagon and you'll see no less than 22 one-of-a-kind details that walk a fine aesthetic line between the timeless look of factory fodder and the radical, sometimes cheeky appearance of fiberglass recreations. At the front of the car, a recessed grille bar floats between modern headlamps, a filled bumper and a shaved and flattened hood. At the back of that hood, stainless-framed glass rides between modified drip rails, shaved vent windows, polished mirrors and Chevy 150 door trim. Beneath that trim, shaved doors perfectly align Chevy 150 side spears with shaved fenders and smooth-leaded quarters that are capped with Chevy 210 2-door wagon stainless. And at the back of the car, a shaved tailgate hangs between filled pan seams, flush-fit taillights and a bright chrome bumper. ENGINE As young car guys, most of us are taught that talking the talk means we'd better walk the walk. And when it comes to talking the talk, this sedan's inability to shut up can be directly attributed to the walking ability afforded by its 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts big block. Twisting stout 9.75 to 1 compression into roughly 550 horsepower, the car's show-detailed mill is a logical testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more horsepower. A perfect air/fuel mixture is supplied by a K&N-toothed Billet Specialties air cleaner and 780cfm Quick Fuel carburetion. That dynamic duo rides on a ported and coated Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, which is bolted between ported and coated Chevrolet heads. Those heads hang polished and color-keyed valve covers over Crower roller rockers, custom Comp pushrods and high quality Crane lifters. Those lifters are tapped by a Crane cam, which is sequenced to loomed Taylor plug wires and an MSD Pro-Billet distributor. Spent gases roar through large exhaust pipes via custom William's headers. At the front of those headers, a familiar Vintage Air FrontRunner system spins a polished Stewart water pump between a Tuff Stuff alternator, a Sanden AC compressor and a Detroit Speed power steering pump. And that water pump feeds a beefy Griffin radiator that's wedged between Flex-a-lite puller fans and a Be Cool condenser. Visually, the Energy-mounted block rides in a smoothed and massaged engine bay that displays OEM-level attentiveness to both engineering and assembly. And details like Billet Specialties breathers, Billet Specialties hose clamps, a Billet Specialties water neck, ARP bolts, Fel-Pro gaskets and a Moroso dipstick create a clean and purposeful aesthetic. DRIVETRAIN Take a look under this tire-shredding courier and you'll find a custom, Luxo-Blue chassis that's ready for the strip or the turntable. Behind the big engine, a GM 700R4 4-speed spins between a high performance ProTorque torque converter and Coleman aluminum driveshaft. That driveshaft twists a proven Dutchman 9-inch that rocks an Auburn posi-traction differential around 3.55 gears and 31-spline axles. Those gears push the car on a trick Ridetech 4-link that's fitted with adjustable Ridetech air shocks. Opposite that 4-link, a Kimbridge Enterprises sub-frame makes good use of Belltech drop spindles, Global West control arms, a Flaming River quick-ratio steering box and two more adjustable Ridetech air shocks. At the corners of that modern suspension, hydroboosted Baer calipers bridge the gap between an SSBC master cylinder, and drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers to 2.5-inch, mandrel-bent pipes that employ an X-shaped crossover and polished Magnaflow mufflers. And power meets the pavement through attractive Budnik Cannons, which spin 245/40ZR18 Falken FK452s in front of 255/40ZR19 Falken FK452s. INTERIOR Pop the shaved doors and you'll find a substantially tweaked interior that was installed by Great 8 guru Dale Van Curen's Unlimited Designs. Front and center, '67 GTO buckets wrap bright stainless trim around creamy Doe hides. In front of those seats, a chrome-lined dash hangs a rebuilt clock, Vintage Air climate control and a Custom Autosound head unit beside traditional Classic Instruments gauges. At the edges of that dash, custom side panels anchor billet door handles between modern power windows, LeMans Blue frames and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels, custom Doe carpet balances a custom, Chip Foose-autographed console between billet foot pedals and Dynamat sound insulation. In front of the driver, a custom Quality Restorations steering wheel spins a stylish "One Fifty" script around a color-keyed, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered storage area features almost enough room for one season's plunder of trophies. This time, offering literal proof that cultural icons only get better with age, it's a 999-point national award winner. So, how do you make an already hot car even more desirable? You start with great maintenance and then flesh out an increasingly appealing roster of top-notch hardware. If you like your classic to be fun to show AND fun to drive, take a close look at this trophy worthy tri-five! BODYWORK/TRIM The great thing about '55-'57 Chevys is that you can customize them any way you want. On the other hand, the terrible thing about '55-'57 Chevys is that you can customize them any way you want. Truly spectacular tri-fives are much less common than their vast production numbers would suggest, but when they're as well done as this double nickel, they tend to stand out from the pack. Sure, the car's flashy Gypsy Red paint certainly helps in achieving that effect, but it is a very traditional color. And when combined with flowing sheetmetal, 50s-era trim and Shoreline Beige uppers, it goes from flashy to classically elegant. ENGINE Pop the hood and you'll find a reliable, 350 cubic inch small block that's been bored .030 over, fitted with a hot Crane cam and equipped with traditional flattop pistons. Revs are created when a chrome, bowtie-topped air cleaner floats wind in to a coated Edelbrock carburetor and aluminum Edelbrock intake. At the perimeter of that intake, 76cc heads hang hardened valve seats under chrome Edelbrock rocker covers and a bowtie-branded breather. Behind that breather, a modern HEI distributor shoots spark through loomed Moroso Super Stock plug wires. Below those wires, trick manifolds take care of spent gases while traditional V-belts spin an upgraded alternator between modern air conditioning and modern power steering. And in front of those ancillaries, a beefy Be Cool radiator fronts a giant SPAL puller fan. Despite being a thoroughly modernized piece, the Chevy Orange mill looks right at home in the car's Satin Black engine compartment. And details like a polished brake booster, a coated fuel pump and a quality CVR starter mix first-rate looks with first-rate functionality. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Like its clean engine bay and classy exterior panels, the bottom of this road ready sedan continues the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology. Predictably, the smooth small block transfers power to a reliable 700R4 4-speed. That tweaked transmission torques a tough JWC driveshaft, which spins a familiar Ford 9-inch around 3.50 gears and 31-spline Moser axles. Naturally the car's suspension has been thoroughly upgraded, with 2-inch drop blocks and relocated leaf springs following tubular control arms, 2-inch drop spindles and a sturdy front sway bar. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. Power-assisted discs provide quick stops. Exhaust exits through welded turbo mufflers and polished stainless tips. And all that reliable hardware rides on a sweet set of chrome Rally Wheels, which spin 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. INTERIOR Featuring sharp Delray upholstery, this tri-five's carefully restored interior is both clean and impressive. Broad bench seats are color matched to the car's Gypsy and Shoreline paint. In front of those seats, a glossy dash hangs Custom Autosound audio, Classic Auto air conditioning and Dakota Digital telemetry behind bowtie-stamped stainless. At the floor, clean California Carpet floats a small console and "Bel Air" branded floor mats beneath big Pioneer kick speakers and bowtie-branded foot pedals. On the doors, 2-tone panels hang small armrests and traditional hardware beneath mirrored window frames and cool bowtie lock knobs. At the roof, a tight headliner flows to a straight package tray and large Pioneer deck speakers. The driver stays connected to the road through a stylish, 15-inch steering wheel, which laps a billet shifter and modern, tilting column. And the passengers stow their essentials beside the car's battery in a fully restored trunk. According to sales, '55-'57 resto-mods are often considered our best offerings. And it's easy to see why when cars like this Viper Blue 210, an offering that backs proven LS1 power with an upgraded drivetrain and custom leather upholstery, are casting bright glares in our sedate photo booth. It's pretty evident that this Chevy was envisioned as one of the coolest cruisers on the strip. And, judging by initial reaction, perception certainly mirrors reality. If you're searching for a sizzling custom that mixes fully sorted mechanicals with great aesthetics, you've found your next classic! BODYWORK/TRIM The essential part of building a jaw dropping custom is: knowing EXACTLY when to hold back. And, with an icon like the Chevy tri-five, even the subtlest touches go a long way. Naturally, the pros who massaged this wagon's California body paid plenty of attention to the fundamentals, but their primary focus was creating the most perfect surfacing possible. That surfacing is founded on mostly-original panels that are impressively flat, displaying nary a ripple or wave anywhere. As expected, those straight pieces ensure fit and finish that's significantly above '50s factory fodder. Speaking of factory, the car's original trim was removed, subjected to $3,500 of hand polishing and carefully reinstalled. And that stainless is highlighted by a glossy coat of Viper Blue 2-stage that blows traditional pastels straight out of the water! One thing about classic car guys is they're uncanny ability to methodically plot, plan and execute even the minutest details. The guy who built this spectacular cruiser probably spent weeks doing just that. At the front of the car, a body-width bumper anchors a Satin Black grille behind clear parking lamps, a traditional Chevrolet crest and chrome-trimmed headlights. At the top of that grille, a smoothed, "Chevrolet" branded hood utilizes a reversed factory latch to adopt the forward-tilt look popularized by the car's Corvette brethren. At the back of that hood, capped wipers lead smoked glass, which is like new all the way down to its 1-piece front passenger windows. At the base of that glass, Bel Air profile spears traverse shaved doors that are accented with correct mirrors. And at the back of the car, a custom smoothie bumper frames correct taillights, bright Chevrolet badging and modernist, center-outlet exhaust tips. ENGINE Tilt the aforementioned hood and you'll find 5.7 liters of LS1 V8 that makes over 300 horsepower! Straight from the factory, that proven mill combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat top pistons to create razor-sharp throttle response and a torque band that's as wide as Texas. At the front of the engine, factory serpentine components spin GM-spec ancillaries just beneath a painted and bowtie-branded air cleaner. Once air enters that cleaner, it flows through a painted, "LS1" branded throttle body to a painted intake, which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High-octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Spent gases roar through factory-spec headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a custom aluminum radiator that's sandwiched between three electric fans. Aesthetically, the Cast Silver mill and its assortment of bright accessories seem right at home inside their smooth, body-matched frame. And details like braided hoses, polished fluid reservoirs and a small Summit fuel pressure gauge ensure this Chevy walks a fine line between looks and performance. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Not surprisingly, the bottom of this show worthy bowtie continues the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology. Behind the awesome engine, a tough Tremec 6-speed makes good use of a narrowed Ford 9-inch, which is built with 3.25 gears and sturdy Moser axles. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Four disc brakes scrub speed. Large-diameter exhaust pipes feed Hooker Super Competition Aero Chamber mufflers. The car's Satin Black floors hover on a Satin Black frame, which rides on a Fatman independent front-clip and Ridetech 4-link rear-half. That suspension adds swagger via Ridetech ShockWave air ride, which kneels thanks to dual air tanks. And that hardware rolls on sweet Schott Modsport wheels, which spin 225/45R18 Bridgestone Duelers in front of 315/35R20 Bridgestone Duelers. INTERIOR Pop the doors and you'll find a custom, completely reworked interior. Front and center, a quartet of leather and suede buckets mixes modern lap belts with modern power adjustment for the car's driver and front passenger. In front of those seats, a blue-stitched dash anchors blue-lit Dakota Digital telemetry, Vintage Air Streamline controls and a blue-lit Dakota Digital clock in a custom, hand-fabricated instrument panel. At the base of that dash, a custom, full-length console centers a sturdy shifter between bright power window switches, hidden Ridetech hardware and components for hidden, MP3-compatible audio. That console floats on like-new carpet, which bridges the gap between billet foot pedals and leather and suede door panels that are dotted with brushed handles. The driver spins a taut Budnik steering wheel around a tilting Ididit column. And the passengers stow gear in a custom cargo hold that, when electronically popped, hides its contents under a custom Tonneau. Sporting a detailed restoration that would probably take a second mortgage to duplicate, this 210 rolls on the right side of impressive. It's a highly desirable tri-five that's been carefully fitted with all of the right stuff to be one seriously cool cruiser. If you're dreaming of the perfect blend of lavish '50s style and modern, reliable performance, you've found your next classic! About This Auction Please note that all sales are binding and final. Sure, that's a REALLY nice car. But what about folks who enjoy their drop-tops steeped in a little more tradition? Fear not, RK Motors Charlotte has a car for them too! The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this seriously cool cruiser is a high quality tri-five that you can invest in, drive around and enjoy for years to come. Featuring an equal emphasis on show and go, it combines an era-correct, 265 cubic inch small block with a smooth Powerglide transmission and correct, 2-tone appearance. If you've been searching for a striking '50s showpiece, but want something that's a heck of a lot more usable than some high dollar hot rod, this Chevy's excellent combination of vintage style and timeless class simply can't be beat! BODYWORK/TRIM This well-traveled convertible is a fully sorted road warrior that combines everything great about '50s Americana with a correct drivetrain and retro-cool aesthetics. The car's detailed, ground-up restoration veils a rock-solid profile in correct Nassau and Harbor Blue 2-stage. That pigment rides under factory-spec trim, which reflects like-new glass and a tight white top. And presently, the car rolls as a subdued combination of classic lines, good times and old school swagger. ENGINE Since this Bel Air is more parade queen than stoplight warrior, it should come as no surprise that the car's 265 cubic inch Super Turbo Fire V8 is essentially a gimmick-free exercise in factory accuracy and antique showmanship. Look to the top of the mill and you'll find a reliable Rochester carburetor that mixes oxygen from an oil bath air cleaner with fuel that's supplied by stainless fluid lines and a traditional mechanical pump. At the sides of that carburetor, stamped and silver-detailed valve covers cap restored exhaust manifolds that are piped in to free-breathing tubes. Behind that carburetor, a traditional points distributor shoots fire through loomed Mileage Plus plug wires. And in front of that carburetor, a tagged radiator circulates coolant through GM-branded hoses and authentic squeeze clamps. In addition to its smooth powerplant, the fully detailed engine bay features dual horns, a Delco-Remy generator and a tagged Delco yellow cap battery. And aesthetically, Satin Black fenders bridge the gap between the mill's deep red block and the car's Harbor Blue exterior. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION As is the case with most '50s-era GM cruisers, that engine is backed by a familiar Powerglide 2-speed, which sends torque to a highway-friendly rear end. That rebuilt drivetrain rides a completely restored suspension, which, along with the car's tight manual steering and firm drum brakes, provides a great combination of old school ride and handling characteristics. That clean suspension rolls traditional wire wheels, which twist 205/75R15 Coker Classic whitewalls. An authentic 'snap, crackle, pop' engine note is provided by throaty turbo mufflers. Out back, an aftermarket sway bar frames a fresh stainless fuel tank. And in a break with tradition, this Bel Air's solid floors have been sealed in a thick layer of Harbor Blue pigment. INTERIOR Featuring a pleasant array of accents, this tri-five's correct, 2-tone interior is one of its most impressive traits. At the center of the car, firm bench seats wear taut vinyl skin that's highlighted by bright chrome hardware. In front of those seats, a classy dash hangs clean, bowtie-branded gauges next to a simple, pushbutton radio. On the doors, textured panels found traditional chrome handles around stainless trim and sculpted armrests. At the floor, clean California Carpet rides under rugged, Bel Air-branded mats. The driver stays connected to the road through a large-diameter steering wheel, which spins a full chrome horn ring around a gold Chevrolet centerpiece. And the passengers stow their essentials in a fully restored trunk that anchors a full-size spare tire between a correct jack, fresh decals and a new mat. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONVintage marketing literatureA factory tune-up manualMiscellaneous service records Impressive and ready to roll, this Chevy is poised to turn heads. It's a highly desirable tri-five that's been carefully restored with all of the right stuff to be a clean, traditional cruiser. The Navajo Tan paintwork with India Ivory top represents the 1950s in a very elegant way. This is particularly impressive on this Chevy because it was resprayed this factory original color a few years ago, which means a wise owner resisted going with a hot rod red or black. In fact, this factory-fresh appearance is exactly how to view this two-door wagon. It has all the great aircraft-inspired brightwork on the hood and running down the body. And of course there's no mistaking the stylized chrome bumpers at both ends. All of this Bel Air style, even the grille, was part of the midgrade 210 package, and this one looks great without losing the spirit that makes it a 60-year-old classic. Even those great hubcaps with Chevy bow-ties around the parameter were available on the 210 line. The beautiful two-tone arrangement continues inside. The dual colors seem to wraparound and intertwine elegantly on the seats, dash, doors, and it even continues all the way behind the rear seats. This 210 has the great dual cowl dashboard and chrome ring steering wheel, so while this might be a "Handyman" special, there are plenty of style touches. Plus, all components work as they should, right down to the AM radio. But we know you look at this and think about all the car show potential, so take notice of the split rear hatch that also makes this your perfect tailgate partying friend. The 235 cubic-inch inline-six is smooth and torquey, and it was a mainstay of Chevrolet vehicles for decades. The Blue Flame six motor is painted perfectly to be the centerpiece in this engine bay. It's refreshing to see the original style motor still in one of these iconic Chevy bodies. This particular one has been well looked after, and it moves this wagon quite nicely, thanks to a few thoughtful pieces. First, this engine breathes easier thanks to an upgrade to a Weber carburetor. Plus, the three-on-the-tree manual transmission gives great power control, and the standard 4.11 rear end ratio means it can get up from a standstill with ease. This is an honest and authentic classic two-door wagon. It has the spirit of the Nomad, the ethics of a Handyman, and the appearance of an American icon. At least, that's how the saying goes in OUR octane-fueled world. Of course, that list is a little unfair to tri-fives because, unlike death and taxes, old school Chevys are a lot of fun. And this coupe, with its brutal 502, stylish leather interior and classic, 2-tone aesthetics, blends an array of custom, driver-friendly attributes into a vintage package that virtually anyone can enjoy! BODYWORK/TRIM When it comes to tri-five Chevys 2-tone paint is pretty much a given, and this hardtop's remarkable combination of black and silver 2-stage works well to freshen what has become a timeless hot rod color scheme. Naturally, the foundation for those pigments is a body-off, rotisserie restoration that spared no expense massaging the car's rock-solid surfacing into better-than-new condition. That surfacing is highlighted by a brilliant array of trim, which includes factory bumper guards, electric Rain Gear wipers, factory-tint glass and polished mirrors. And today, this classic rolls as a top-notch cruiser that's ready to turn heads and win trophies! ENGINE Glance under this double-nickel's hood and you'll find a sweet GM Performance Parts ZZ502 that's been built, polished and tweaked to 9.6 to 1 compression and a killer 502 horsepower! A perfect air/fuel mixture is supplied by a familiar Holley carburetor, which floats between an Aeromotive regulator, a Barry Grant pressure gauge, a Lokar throttle linkage and a bowtie-capped K&N air filter. That 4-barrel rides on an aluminum Chevrolet intake, which is bolted between lightweight aluminum heads. Those heads hang snazzy Chevrolet valve covers over stamped steel rocker arms, 2.25-inch intake valves and 1.88-inch exhaust valves. Those rockers are engaged by a hydraulic roller cam, which is sequenced to loomed GM plug wires and a modern Delco-Remy distributor. Spent gases roll through beefy Sanderson headers. At the front of those headers, a familiar March serpentine drive spins a Stewart water pump between a modern AC compressor, a proven Wilson alternator and modern power steering. And that pump feeds an aluminum Griffin radiator that's wedged between two electric pusher fans and an aftermarket pulley fan. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Structurally, the '55 Chevrolet is an extremely versatile platform that can accept a wide variety of enhancements. And one look under this Bel Air provides a glimpse of how a few quality modifications can make a big difference. Behind the big block, a tough 700R4 hangs a powder-coated case and cast fluid pan between a Mark Williams driveshaft and 2,500 RPM stall converter. That driveshaft twists a matching Mark Williams third member, which spins Dutchmen axles around 3.50 Richmond gears. That drivetrain rides a full Jim Meyers Racing Products chassis, which mixes a lowered ride height with beefy sway bars, tubular control arms and adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. The aforementioned power steering pushes a modern rack-and-pinion setup. Stops come courtesy of GM-style power front disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust is handled by aluminized, true-dual pipes, which employ throaty DynoMax mufflers. Grip is provided by polished Cragar Street Pros, which spin 205/65R15 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As in front of 255/55R17 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As. And everything, from the car's finned transmission coolers to its Rock Valley fuel tank, appears purpose-built to tackle the asphalt. INTERIOR There is no shortage of tri-fives with custom leather interiors, but a car this comfortable is always a stand out. With Airtique climate control and powerful Custom Autosound audio, all the modern conveniences are present and accounted for. One of the best additions to the cabin is a sculpted TEA's Design seat, which folds driver and passenger armrests in front of a stock, bowtie-branded bench. In front of those thrones, a body-matched dash frames hidden audio components in polished aluminum trim and VDO telemetry. The carpet is extra plush, floating color-keyed, "Bel Air" branded floor mats between a billet throttle pedal and big kick speakers. In front of the driver, a tilting Ididit column spins a polished, half-wrapped and color-keyed wheel. And behind the passengers, a fully finished trunk hides a Custom Autosound CD changer and Optima gel cell battery beneath crisp Pioneer speakers. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESThe car's original cowl tagRestoration photosComponent paperwork for the car's Jim Meyer Racing Products suspensionMaintenance receiptsA pair of aftermarket wiper arms To borrow a quote from Ed Cole, former Chevrolet Chief Engineer: "We got a big kick out of designing this new Chevrolet, and you will get an even bigger one out of driving it." Fun was, and is, an inherent part of building or driving any tri-five Chevy. And, with its impressive engine, comfortable interior and relentless style, this slick '55 is sure to be a blast! If you're ready to own a classic that can truly do it all, fire up your phone, clear some garage space and claim this awesome resto-mod! In the world of electronic fuel injection and computer diagnostics, even late model dealerships look a little uncomfortable working on pre-OBD1 cars. There are many independent mechanics and shops that may be able to help, but putting your prized classic in the hands of a stranger is a leap of faith at best. This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center. Being proud members of SEMA, ARMO, HRIA and the North Carolina Motorsports Association, the RKM Performance Center is a nationally recognized shop; best known for high level OEM restorations and custom builds. Comprised of ASE certified mechanics, including several Master Technicians, you can feel confident that your car is in capable hands. Whether it's a factory-correct car or wild custom, those big tail fins, the bulging roof line, and long wheelbase are always good for catching eyes and turning heads. So it's no surprise that when the previous owner of this 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air spotted this amazing machine on a leg of the 2013 Hot Rod Power Tour in Texas, he knew he HAD to have it. So he tracked it down, contacted the owner and before he knew it he was signing the paperwork on an incredibly custom and well-built '59 Bel Air. Fortunately, you don't have to go through all that legwork. With a massive 572 cubic inch motor and compelling House of Kolor paint job, this Chevy is simply waiting for you to pick up the phone and lock in a deposit! BODYWORK/TRIM That eye-popping paint job is the first thing that stands out about this car; and rightfully so. Finished in a glossy coat of House of Kolor Sterling Gray Metallic over Sunset Orange, it's a two-tone color combination that has just enough flash to catch attention, but not so much that it's obnoxious. Sprayed over smooth sheetmetal, confirming absolutely no shortcuts were taken during body prep, those two hues are split by clean, stainless trim spanning the length of the car and trimming the tail fins. All of the chrome and remaining stainless have been body-matched in the same Sterling Gray Metallic paint, including the front and rear bumpers, front grille and headlight/taillight bezels. And custom door handles, a mirrored "572" badge and a custom steel hood provide aggressive attitude to match the car's big block power! ENGINE Under the custom steel hood is a GMPP ZZ572 cubic inch V8, cradled in a custom and well-sorted engine bay and detailed in more HoK Sunset Orange. Rated at 620 horsepower, Chevrolet claims this monster motor "the most powerful big block street engine". Fed by a custom induction system that pipes air from behind the grille, the Pro Systems carburetor feeds air and fuel into big-bore cylinders where an HEI distributor sends fire to ignite the mixture with 9.6:1 compression - allowing this big block safe to run on pump fuel. Mounted to a billet Vintage Air serpentine system is a polished A/C compressor, a polished alternator and a power steering pump. Polished pulleys spin the aluminum water pump and underdrive balancer. Keeping temps in check is a Griffin cross-flow radiator that's fitted with dual electric fans and a polished overflow tank. That big block breathes through Hooker competition headers to a 3'' H-pipe exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers and electronic exhaust cut-outs. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION During the frame-off build, a Sunset Orange painted Art Morrison chassis was fabricated to cradle a TH400 transmission built by Hughes Performance and is supported by a custom coilover suspension. That transmission utilizes a Gear Vendors under/overdrive and sends power to a Ford 9'', stuffed with a Strange Engineering locker differential and 3.73 gears. The adjustable coil over suspension is supplemented with a 4-link rear setup and a rear sway bar, with upper/lower tubular control arms up front. Four-wheel, Willwood disc brakes with 13'' cross-drilled/slotted rotors, 6 piston calipers up front and 4 piston calipers at the rear handle stopping duties. And power steering turns the 19'' Budnik Ice wheels up front, that are wrapped in 235/35R19 BF Goodrich tires, while the massive 20x14 wheels out back put the power to the ground through Mickey Thompson Sportsman 29x15's. INTERIOR Open the doors to a custom, one-of-a-kind interior, wrapped in elegant, dark gray leather. The front and rear bucket seats feature suede inserts and center a custom, cabin-length console. That console houses thoughtful cup holders, the automatic gear selector, power window switches, a switch for the electric cut-outs and the Alpine AM/FM/USB head unit with DVD/Navigation capabilities. Powered by two amplifiers, the stereo system features JL Audio component speakers at all four corners of the cabin and a custom, trunk-mounted JL Audio W3 subwoofer. Instrumentation comes from the Auto Meter American Muscle line that sits in a body-matched, "572" branded dash. Cabin temps are controlled with familiar switches for the Vintage Air climate control and the big block fires to life with a custom, Start/Stop push-button ignition. In short, this '59 Bel Air is an incredible machine that elicits compliments and stares wherever it goes. No expense was spared in this build and you certainly couldn't replicate this build for our asking price. Whether you're looking to take home trophies from shows, terrify stoplight contenders or just enjoy a back road cruise this, Bel Air does it all very well! It features a great-sounding V8, with all of the niceties you would want for a long enjoyable weekend cruise. With the price we have listed on this one, we don't expect it to last long either. This 1953 Chevy is ready for the road and with its custom touches throughout you'll be sure to turn heads no matter where you go. Vibrant red, although obviously not the original color, is sure to grab everyone's attention. With beautiful chrome accents this car is dazzling. True Chevrolet fans will notice that liberties have been taken when it comes to the bodywork, however in this case the overall presence is stunning. This is a true example of how less can definitely be more. The build was done some years ago, so there's evidence of age in the finish, but from a few feet away it appears near perfect, and for a car that runs this well, it's easy to overlook minor paint issues. At the back of the car many will notice the custom rear tailights, and a nice touch of custom black and gray pin striping around the antenna. The exterior might scream 1950's, however pop open the driver's door and you'll instantly see modern amenities that you would expect in any late model vehicle. The luxurious red leather interior uses buckets that appear from a late-model car, custom door panels, and a fabricated center console to really bring things up to date. Vibrant red carpets match the exterior and give it a bit of contrast to the black dash, and all the modern conveniences are here: a powerful AM/FM/CD system, power steering, and a tilt steering column. Equss gauges were neatly installed in a nice aluminum instrument panel, with auxiliary gauges to the right. Below the dash you'll find the shifter, and before you ask, yes it's equipped with a dice shift knob. There's a full back seat for taking some friends with you, as well as a nicely appointed trunk that's upholstered to match the interior. The old six is gone, replaced by a reliable 305 cubic inch V8 that was pulled from a 1978 Monza LG3. The 145hp engine is a refreshing change from the 350 conversions we've all seen at our local car show. Looking reasonably fresh, the small block makes power using a 4-barrel intake and 4-barrel carburetor. Simple touches, like painting the valve covers and air filter, have been taken to ensure that the engine bay ties into the exterior very nicely. Bolted to the unique small block is a 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a 10-bolt rear end. Stopping power comes courtesy of upgraded front disc brakes and rear drums. In front of those brakes, 15" wheels are the perfect '50s rolling stock and carry 205/65R15 blackwall tires for a low-key look. Not stock, but not radical, this is a sensibly updated vintage Chevy that looks good and can be driven anywhere with confidence. But not many of those vintage machines can claim to be both rare and highly desirable from the day they left the showroom. Modeled after a famous GM Motorama concept, and sold as a high-price, low-production 'halo car', the first generation Nomad is a true all-time all-star. So, how do you make a car that's already as hot as this shooting-brake Chevy even more desirable? You completely refinish its body, bolt up some fresh suspension components, throw in a smooth small block and line it with a nice combination of classic style and modern convenience. If you like your tri-five to be fun to show off AND fun to drive, this award-winning Nomad is your next cruiser! BODYWORK/TRIM Despite the exceptional sales of Chevrolet's youthful Bel Air, the brand's higher priced Nomad proved less popular and, thanks to attrition, has now become even scarcer. Fortunately, this slick resto-mod has always been a solid, complete car that benefitted from decades of owners who were smart enough to know what they had. And recently, when it fell into the hands of B-Mac's Auto of Raleigh, North Carolina, big money was spent on a thorough, frame-off restoration. Once the car's tired enamel was removed, skilled metalwork remedied rust issues in its floor and right door. When the rebuild was close to completion, that arrow-straight fuselage was primed, carefully block-sanded and covered in a classy combination of white and silver 2-stage. And today, buffed and wet-sanded to a fantastic shine, this cool Chevy is both handsome and exquisite. One thing about classic car guys is they're uncanny ability to methodically plot, plan and execute even the minutest details. And the guy who built this spectacular cruiser probably spent weeks doing just that. At the front of the car, a body-width bumper rides below a straight stainless grille, clear parking lamps and chrome-trimmed Delta headlights. At the top of that grille, a fresh Chevrolet crest is centered beneath a classic 'jetbird' hood ornament. At the back of that hood, fresh trim, simple mirrors and electric windshield wipers highlight new glass. At the base of that glass, white-trimmed fender spears perfectly complement traditional door handles and monochromatic Bel Air emblems. And at the back of the car, a second body-width bumper rides below vertical tailgate trim, a gold "Nomad" emblem and correct Bel Air taillights. ENGINE This sweet looking Chevy is powered by a well-detailed LS2 that provides plenty of solid, reliable motivation. Straight from the factory, the rowdy mill utilizes 364 cubic inches to twist buff 10.9 to 1 compression into an even 400 horsepower and 400 lb./ft. of Oak-shaking torque. And despite consistently delivering track-blistering, low-end performance, it can rev to 6,500 RPM and drives like a commuter car! At the front of the aluminum block, a Vintage Air FrontRunner system spins a fresh alternator and Sanden AC compressor at the sides of a polished air cleaner. Once air enters that cleaner, it flows through a factory throttle body to a factory intake that's bolted down over completely stock internals. High-octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced from a requisite Street & Performance harness to beefy Taylor plug wires. Spent gases swirl through slick, ceramic-coated shorties. And cooling comes courtesy of a big cross-flow radiator that's fitted with pliable hoses, SPAL puller fans and an aftermarket support. On the visual end of the spectrum, color-keyed, "Chevrolet" branded rail covers perfectly complement a snazzy CPP master cylinder. The glossy engine compartment seats Satin Black fenders in front of a body-matched firewall. And niceties such as stainless fluid lines, a fully finished hood and a trick dipstick add a flash of detail. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Throw the car on a lift and you'll find solid, undercoated floors that, along with a Satin Black frame, sport a restoration-fresh appearance. At the center of those floors, a proven 4L60E 4-speed spins torque to an 8.2-inch rear end that's fitted with moderate, 3.55 gears. At the ends of that drivetrain, a fully rebuilt suspension makes good use of two coil-over shocks, two QA-1 adjustable shocks, POSIES leaf springs and modern power steering. At the corners of that suspension, power-assisted disc and drum brakes turn stress-inducing traffic into a relaxing exercise in sightseeing. Between those discs, large-diameter exhaust pipes employ an X-shaped crossover and great-sounding Magnaflow mufflers. And all that mechanical goodness rolls on painted steelies, which spin two 215/70R15 BF Goodrich whitewalls and two 235/70R15 BF Goodrich whitewalls around charcoal wheel covers. Naturally, this impressive wagon's undercarriage is clean and fully sorted. However, as mentioned before, this Nomad was built to drive, and it'll be right at home inspiring stares on sunny weekend getaways. INTERIOR Climb inside this razor-sharp tri-five and you'll find a lightly modified interior that features dramatic style and enough great looking trim to payroll a small upholstery shop. Covered in '64 Impala Oyster vinyl, the car's bench seats, a Glide unit up front and factory fodder out back, are all-day comfortable. Beneath those seats, traditional carpet centers color-keyed floor mats under a metal accelerator pedal. Opposite that carpet, fancy chrome bows highlight a tight headliner. At the sides of the car, textured door panels look great hovering between chrome handles, sculpted armrests and body-matched window frames. In front of those panels, a bowtie-trimmed dash hangs Classic Instruments telemetry above controls for a Vintage Air climate system and a Custom Autosound head unit that's hidden in the car's factory glovebox. In front of the driver, a painted tilt steering column spins an ornate wheel. And behind the passengers, a carpeted cargo hold is primed for lawn chairs and picnic supplies. As one of Detroit's most universally adored creations, late '50s Chevys continue to be restoration magnets for builders and collectors alike. The only problem is: once you've joined the ranks of tri-five ownership, it becomes increasingly difficult to stand out. Well, with a classic like this striking Nomad, standing out is guaranteed to be a nonissue. The beneficiary of a comprehensive restoration, this wagon's time-tested look is backed by an impressive list of hardware that includes a spry Chevy small block, a tough 4L60E automatic and a thoroughly updated chassis that rolls on mirrored Coys wheels. Relatively rare, and increasingly exclusive, Nomads are always crowd favorites. And, with twice the swagger of its hardtop and convertible brethren, this versatile bowtie is one of the most enjoyable tri-fives on the planet! BODYWORK/TRIM A solid foundation for building a lights-out resto-mod, this slick Chevy's smooth, all-American body is covered in a rich coat of Charcoal Gray 2-stage. That glossy pigment, bearing striking similarity to Chevrolet's current Ashen Gray offering, creates a monochromatic profile that's been buffed, sanded and polished to near perfection. Panel gaps appear to be at better-than-factory tolerances, creating straight surfaces that are likely much cleaner than when they originally rolled out of the showroom. And today, this reborn classic sits as a stylish testament to storied Detroit excellence. As a collector car enthusiast, you really can't go wrong with any '50s Chevy. But for many folks, the division's '56 model essentially perfected the art. At the front of the car, a straight, stainless grille hangs clear parking lamps between chrome-trimmed headlights and a guarded bumper. At the top of that grille, a chrome-trimmed hood centers a polished 'jetbird' ornament over a vivid Sedan Delivery crest. Behind that hood, polished frames seal lightly tinted glass between capped wipers and mirrorless doors. At the base of those frames, a shaved profile chases traditional door handles with polished trim spears. And at the back of the car, a second guarded bumper frames a shaved valance that features traditional tail lamps, polished tailgate trim and a classy "Nomad" script. ENGINE In keeping with unspoken tradition, this Nomad proudly sports a spry Chevy small block. That said; it's probably not quite the small block you're expecting. Lift the domed hood and you'll see where tradition stops and convenience begins. Instead of sticking with factory-correct fodder, the previous owner decided that a 403 cubic inch stroker motor would be an excellent complement to the car's stellar looks, and we can't help but agree. Up top, a Charcoal Gray intake breathes through a billet throttle body and Texas Speed & Performance air cleaner. At the sides of that intake, AC Delco plug wires snake around factory-spec exhaust manifolds that are snugged to a cast iron block. Inside that block, a forged crank spins forged rods and Wiseco pistons at the sides of an LS7 cam. At the front of that cam, smooth serpentine components ride behind a billet radiator support, which hangs dual electric puller fans behind a big AutoRad tank. And, aesthetically, the modern mill looks fantastic, accented with niceties like braided lines, a billet oil cap and a glossy, Charcoal Gray frame. DRIVETRAIN Take a look under this classy courier and you'll find a thoroughly upgraded chassis that's clean, calculated and ready to hit the road. A glossy frame creates a nice contrast to solid, undercoated floors. Behind the big engine, a fresh 4L60E 4-speed spins a Driveline Express driveshaft, which twists a narrow Nova axle. That power team pushes the car on a Ridetech 4-link rear-half that's fitted with proven coil-over-shocks. Opposite that 4-link, an independent front clip makes good use of power rack-and-pinion steering and beefy tubular control arms. At the corners of that lucid suspension, quality Wilwood calipers bridge the gap between a familiar Wilwood master cylinder, a small Wilwood proportioning valve, and drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned manifolds to large cats, a large Magnaflow muffler and a deceptively simple tailpipe. And power meets the pavement through chrome Coys C5s, which spin 225/35ZR20 Nexen N7000s in front of 275/35ZR20 Nexen N7000s. INTERIOR Pop the doors and you'll find a substantially tweaked interior that splashes a little red on the car's all-business aesthetic. Front and center, factory-spec benches wrap bright stainless trim around tight leather hides. In front of those seats, a billet-trimmed dash hangs bright Auto Meter gauges and an Auto Meter Quartz clock over controls for the car's modern climate system. At the edges of that dash, custom side panels anchor chrome door and window cranks between thick armrests, Charcoal frames and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels, gray carpet floats color-keyed mats beneath billet foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, a chrome mirror leads a leather headliner that's propped on polished bows. In front of the driver, a half-wrapped Billet Specialties steering wheel laps a color-keyed, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a carpeted storage area features almost enough room for one season's plunder of trophies. With top-notch tri-fives riding comfortably in six-figure territory, this Nomad represents the opportunity to own an exclusive, attention-grabbing classic that shows, and drives, better than new. If you're ready to be the star of the show, clean out your garage, call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and claim this sweet Chevy! At least, that's how the saying goes in OUR octane-fueled world. Of course, that list is a little unfair to tri-fives because, unlike death and taxes, old school Chevys are a lot of fun. And this award-winning drop-top, with its smooth LS1, paint shop-fresh restoration and thoroughly modern mechanicals, blends an array of custom, driver-friendly attributes into a fully sorted resto-mod that virtually anyone can enjoy! BODYWORK/TRIM Sure, DuPont ChromaPremier wasn't on the Chevy color chart back in 1956, but a slick coat of Super Black certainly looks the part on this awesome Bel Air. Thanks to their killer curves, these cars really lend themselves to modern 2-stage. And this classic's remarkable pigment works well with a tight, power top to freshen clean and timeless aesthetics. The car's bodywork, completed over seven years by Roger's Body Shop of Pearisburg, Virginia, presents great, with straight panels and even gaps framing doors that snap closed with precision. Finished in early 2014, that precision shows in a way that'll put most traditional pavement pounders to shame. Nothing has been chopped, channeled or frenched, which is always a smart choice on these cars. And, by allowing the car's mostly original body to speak for itself, the builders created a solid, no-gimmick classic that dazzles via merit and execution. Despite a relatively updated appearance, this bowtie's finishing pieces look so natural they could be mistaken for factory-spec. At the front of the car, a guarded bumper protects modern headlights, a fiberglass apron, clear parking lamps and a stainless grille. At the top of that grille, a chrome-trimmed hood leads the eye to smoked glass that's founded in highly polished frames and capped Rain Gear wipers. At the base of that glass, monochromatic trim spears and shaved quarter emblems give way to a polished driver's mirror, chrome door handles and straight rocker guards. And at the back of the car, a custom, 1-piece bumper rides beneath traditional tail lamps and polished trunk trim that doubles as a small Center High Mount Stop Lamp. ENGINE If you think the exterior of this classic is impressive, you're going to LOVE what's under its hood! Cranking out ample horsepower, this Bel Air's lightweight, high performance LS1 is widely regarded as one of the best small blocks ever produced. Donated by a 1999 Camaro, it combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads, a Chevrolet Performance Hot Cam and aluminum flat top pistons to create razor-sharp throttle response and lightning quick acceleration. At the front of the mill, a Vintage Air Front Runner system spins a rebuilt alternator and fresh AC compressor at the sides of a polished, "LS1" branded air filter. Once air enters that filter, it flows through a factory throttle body in to a factory-spec intake, which is bolted down over mostly stock internals. High-octane fossils are provided by GM electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced from a Street & Performance wiring harness to high performance plug wires. Spent gases exit through coated Street & Performance headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator that rides between two large puller fans and a Vintage Cooling Systems support. Visually, not a detail was missed under this Chevy's Super Black bonnet. Niceties such as polished valve covers, a Wilwood master cylinder, trick dipsticks and a custom cowl provide just the right amount of flash to give the engine a clean, finished look. And the vicious small block fires right up, idles perfectly and accelerates like a modern sports car! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Structurally, the '56 Chevrolet is an extremely versatile platform that can accept a wide variety of enhancements. And one look under this Bel Air provides a glimpse of how a few modifications can make a big difference. The car's glossy Bel Air Classic chassis rides opposite a fully finished, 1-piece floorpan and custom mini tubs. Behind the hot small block, a Camaro-sourced 4L60E automatic easily torques a narrowed 12-bolt, which spins a posi-traction differential around 3.73 gears and fresh Moser axles. At the front of the car, stainless Heidts control arms and proven Ridetech air shocks frame power rack-and-pinion steering. At the back of the car, a stainless Heidts 4-bar leads two more Ridetech air shocks. Stops come courtesy of Wilwood 4 and 6-piston calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by polished, Mandrel-bent pipes, which utilize polished Kooks mufflers to create an awesome chorus of sound. Grip is provided by stylish Billet Specialties wheels, which spin 245/40ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 335/30ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As. And everything, from the car's Wilwood proportioning valve to its Rock Valley fuel tank, appears purpose-built to tackle the asphalt. INTERIOR There's no shortage of tri-fives with custom interiors. But this cockpit, high-dollar leather installed by Roanoke, Virginia's Horne's Upholstery, is certainly a stand out. With Vintage Air conditioning, power windows and a powerful Clarion CD player, all the modern conveniences are present and accounted for. One of the best additions to the cabin is a fresh quartet of bucket seats, all of which are based on modern bones. In front of those seats, a padded, billet-trimmed dash frames clean Dakota Digital VHX telemetry. At the sides of that dash, sculpted door panels hang chrome hardware over custom kick panels and big Nakamichi speakers. Beneath those speakers, tight California Carpet floats color-keyed floor mats around billet foot pedals, a small Hurst shifter and a lit, full-length console. In front of the driver, a painted, tilting column spins a painted, reduced-diameter wheel. And behind the passengers, a fully finished trunk provides a perfect place to display trophies. AWARDS Speaking of trophies, this Chevy is certainly privy to golden accolades. Here's a list of the major awards bestowed since the car's recent restoration.Top 25 at the 2014 Pigeon Forge Rod RunShow-Class Outstanding at the 2014 Bristol Super Chevy ShowBest Tri-Five at the 2014 Bristol Super Chevy Show To borrow a quote from Ed Cole, former Chevrolet Chief Engineer: "We got a big kick out of designing this new Chevrolet, and you will get an even bigger one out of driving it." Fun was, and is, an inherent part of building or driving any tri-five Chevy. And, with its impressive engine, comfortable interior and relentless style, this slick '56 is sure to be a blast! The fellow who built this car had in one corner of his garage a fairly straight, but tired, 1962 Chevy Bel Air coupe and in the other corner, a big block Chevy V8 without a home. Well, the answer was clear, and the result is this stunning black-on-red Bel Air with a thundering 454 under the hood. Add in conveniences like A/C, power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a brilliantly detailed chassis, and you get one of the most understated, yet potent cars we've ever featured. Classic black never goes out of style, and on these early '60s Chevys, it's just plain elegant. The bodies were beautifully styled, and the excesses of the 1950s were clearly behind them as the stylists brought out the all-new Chevrolets. The canted greenhouse works with the angled relief lines along the sides of the body to make the car look like it's moving forward, even on stock vehicles that don't have that classic hot rod rake like this one does. This one was taken down to bare metal and placed on a rotisserie for the rebuild, and it appears that it was a very solid, clean car to begin with. But since the intent was to paint it in its original code 900 Tuxedo Black, I'm sure the guys working on it realized that merely clean wasn't good enough. Body gaps had to be precise, the panels, including those massive rear quarters, have to be arrow-straight, and the car has to fit together better than it did when it was new. Bit by bit, it came together, and as each section of the car received its final coat of inky black paint, it was rubbed and buffed to a mirror-like shine. Upon final assembly, the entire car was double-checked for straightness, gaps were adjusted, and it was given a final once-over with the buffer. Look at the photos again-there's no orange peel or waviness in that paint, and the effect is jaw-dropping. This one stands out. Most cars like this get dressed up as SS clones, but the builder wisely decided to let this one stand on its own. That means simple Bel Air badges and trim without the SS flash, and it's limited to a simple strip of stainless running from end to end. The bumpers have been professionally refinished to show standards, and the grille is excellent. Since this isn't an Impala, there are only two tail lights per side instead of three, although the Chevrolet emblems front and rear are the same. Subtle 427 crossed flag emblems have been added on the front fenders, and you can't blame a guy for advertising-there are no numbers that resonate louder with car guys than 4-2-7. In reality, those emblems are kind of understating the situation here-what lives under the hood is actually a 454 cubic inch big block that makes more than 450 horsepower. Fully dressed for show-because there was no intent to disguise it as a stock piece-the engine bay is as brilliant as the body is subtle. Sporting a trio of two-barrel carburetors from Demon, it does an awfully good impersonation of a Corvette L72 427/435. The air cleaners are polished and finned bricks which add cool aftermarket flair. The block and heads are Chevy Orange, which stands out in the black engine bay, while the accessories have all been chrome plated or polished and spin on a billet serpentine belt drive system. A Tapp aluminum radiator lives up front and is cooled by a mechanical fan in a polished shroud. Power steering, which features a Borgeson 500 quick-ratio steering box, combines with electric vacuum pump-assisted brakes and Hot Rod air conditioning to integrate modern convenience. Wiring and plumbing has been neatly arranged to reduce clutter, while little details like the original bottle of washer fluid on the radiator cradle will make you smile. Massive headers by Sanderson handle the exhaust, and allow the big block to breathe easily. There aren't many transmissions that can stand up to the kind of power a big block cranks out, but the Muncie 4-speed in this car is one of them. The frame, in a brilliant move, has been painted silver, which really pops against the black underbody, and provides the perfect background for the highly detailed suspension. The suspension appears to be original style, but using dropped spindles and CPP upper control arms up front for that awesome stance, and disc brakes have been added at all four corners. The rear suspension uses coil springs, control arms, and a Panhard rod to locate the 3.70 posi rear axle, for a big improvement in ride and handling over the primitive components that were in use in 1962. The exhaust system looks like it follows the original specifications, although it now uses massive Flowmaster mufflers for a great sound that gives the 427 an authoritative voice-when you turn the key, watch the heads snap towards the sound. A new gas tank has been tucked up behind the axle, and all the lines feeding the engine are, of course, brand new. Rolling stock consists of perfectly proportioned Billet Specialties hoops wearing 235/50/17 front and 255/55/17 rear Goodyear Eagle RSA radials. Fortunately, this was also a code 872 red interior car, so there was really no decision to be made regarding what the insides should look like-nothing looks better than a black on red car. Beautifully restored to stock specifications, there was no reason to go wild with something custom because the factory nailed it right off the showroom floor. Even the original bench seat was retained, and it now sports reproduction Bel Air grade cloth and vinyl seat covers. The carpets are correct black and red loop with reproduction red floor mats, and the dash pad is new, along with the headliner and door panels. Nicely integrated auxiliary gauges from Classic Instruments have been installed below the original speedometer, and without looking at the brand name, you might be fooled into thinking they were original. The Moon tachometer on the steering column is a cool period accessory, easily visible between the spokes of the restored steering wheel. The shifter lives in its own little mini console, and is topped by a traditional white cue ball knob. The A/C system has been beautifully integrated in a low-profile housing under the dash, and blows ice cold. Secret Audio provided the entertainment system, which is operated via remote so the original dash could remain clean and uncluttered. And speaking of remotes, this car also has a keyless entry system that works in conjunction with the original handles. The trunk has been finished to stock specifications, with spatter finish paint and simple rubber mats, along with an original bias-ply whitewall spare on a steel wheel. You can buy this car with confidence, too. It's more than a pretty face, it comes with exceptional documentation that includes a big build book full of photos and receipts. Every phase of the build is documented in color, and the receipts will tell you exactly what components went into the construction of this amazing piece. There are also manuals for all the new components, so you'll be able to operate the car just as if you'd brought it home from the dealer in 1962. I flat-out love this car. Not only is it from one of my favorite eras in motoring, but it is exceptionally well built with a timeless color combination and a ton of horsepower. All the things that made these cars awesome in 1962 have been carefully preserved and highlighted, while the upgrades merely enhance the driving experience. Run that big engine through the gears and you'll be grinning like an escaped convict before you hit fourth gear, and you'll find yourself constantly turning to admire it after you park and start walking away. If every car were as nicely built as this one, our repair shop would be a very quiet place indeed. Please buy this Bel Air today before I have to sell a kidney to acquire it for myself. Call now! A model 210 Del Ray coupe like this has a lot of original style with some nice upgrades. 1955 was the first year of the now famous Tri-Five Chevys. The pronounced rounded fenders of its predecessors were traded for a streamlined appearance that became an icon of the 1950s. This one started life as a model 210 coupe, but during a recent restoration, it has been given the added chrome elements of the upmarket Bel Air (the 210 coupes are actually rarer than the Bel Airs). During the work on this car, it is evident that a lot of care went into to keeping the panels straight and the gaps uniform. The paint is an updated idea on the Glacier Blue/Skyline Blue two tone paint scheme originally offered by Chevrolet in 1955. The difference here is that the shine on the finish is nothing like Chevy painters could produce back in the day. In fact, if you want to know how much work has gone into this car, just check out the trunk. The spare wheel was left in original condition so you can understand what 60 years of untouched really looks like. Thankfully, the wheels that everyone will see you cruising with are a shiny set of 15-inch wire wheels. The 1011A on the cowl tag means this is a correct Del Ray model that comes with an upgraded color-coordinated interior package. Thus, part of the evidence of this detail-oriented restoration is that the unique square pattern blue in the seats, perfectly matching the shade on the dashboard and steering wheel. It looks especially cool when you open the door and everyone sees the kick panel inside matching the fenders. Aside from the color coordination, these Chevys have a great looking interior that includes the dual-hump style dash that resembles the Corvettes of the era. Also, during the restoration, the heater/defrost was kept in working order, and there were provisions for a modern stereo system. Part of what makes these cars a legend is that 1955 was the first production year for the small block V8. The only optional eight-cylinder in this inaugural year was the 265 cubic-inch motor, and so this keeps the original small block spirit, but it has been upgraded to a slightly more powerful 305 cubic inch unit, and bolted to a TH350 automatic transmission. The improved V8 was placed in the detailed engine bay that was built to be impressive and reliable. The Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers offer some nice chrome touches, but the other noticeable upgraded piece is a new radiator. Finally, the classic V8 sound is announced through a dual exhaust system, and to make sure you can keep the power on the road, it rides on modern Firestone tires. This sharp coupe has the style and looks to make you the envy of everyone on road. This classic wont last long under our showroom lights. Some of the nicest classics we feature are those built by folks who invest a large amount of time and money in to a project they simply love. And much to the surprise of casual onlookers, most gearheads' dream builds don't always involve Ridler finalists or a prestigious pile of name brand parts that serves as garage floor dcor. Instead, they're filled with impressive, well-done cruisers, which wrap modern power, everyday livability and top-notch road manners in about five times the curb appeal of a local showroom special. This stunning Chevy was painstakingly crafted into a first class piece of automotive art during a multi-year, high dollar restoration. And thanks to a modern small block and virtually indestructible transmission, it also sports a fully sorted drivetrain that creates the perfect platform for cross-country road trips. Looking for a hot tri-five that's every bit as cool and twice as classy as a ground-up street rod? Take a long look at this killer Bel Air! BODYWORK/TRIM Infusing classic Chevrolet lines with striking Slate and Pearl two-stage, this fantastic sedan is the recent beneficiary of a high quality, frame-off restoration. That custom metallic on blue-tint pigment is stretched over solid, all-GM sheetmetal. That old school iron aligns flat, show worthy reflections in tight fit and finish that would look right at home on much newer offerings. Smooth bumpers, smoked glass, dual mirrors, bowtie taillights and retrofitted "Fuel Injection" emblems add just the right amount of customization. And today, this Chevy rolls as the kind of awesome cruiser that we all stare at, many of us fondly remember, and few of us have the opportunity to actually own! ENGINE Motivation comes courtesy of a 6.2 liter Vortec V8, which is factory-rated at 403 horsepower in Cadillac's prestigious Escalade. Designed to move GM's largest offerings, the buff L92 utilizes lightweight aluminum construction and variable valve timing to create sharp throttle response and virtually endless torque. Caddy's familiar engine cover details monochromatic ornamentation with a super cool flame motif. A smooth serpentine system spins modern air conditioning beneath custom air and coolant tubes. A factory throttle body breathes through a conical air cleaner. There's a big aluminum radiator that, thanks to a polished support, rides between beefy electric puller fans and a polished overflow tank. And modern power steering combines with GM exhaust manifolds, a Hydratech brake booster and Bosch Ultra Premium plug wires to detail an otherwise purpose-built performer. Aesthetically, the smooth, body-matched engine compartment frames the L92's super clean casting in a technical appearance that oozes performance appeal. Niceties such as billet hood bracing, chrome hinges and braided fluid lines add just the right amount of flash. And the net result is a buttery, muscle-bound V8 that, through its distinctive rumble, foretells this Chevy's true hot rod nature. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Like its clean engine bay and classy exterior panels, the bottom of this road ready Bel Air continues the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology. The stout small block twists a proven 700R4 4-speed, which is hooked to what appears to be C4-sourced Dana 44. Turns come courtesy of a fourth generation Corvette suspension, which mixes quick reflexes with excellent road manners. Stops are provided by red, Corvette-branded calipers, which clamp vented rotors at all four corners. A custom, true-dual exhaust system swirls spent gases through an X-shaped crossover, throaty Magnaflow mufflers and polished stainless tips. A Paul Newman frame perfectly complements solid, Slate floors, which ensure the car's flipside matches its topside. All that reliable hardware rides on C6 ZR1-style wheels, which spin 225/55ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports in front of 255/45ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports. And fully sorted details like stainless brake lines, braided fuel hoses and a fresh fuel tank ensure years of carefree cruising. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION IS INCLUDED WITH OUR SALERestoration photosMiscellaneous restoration receipts INTERIOR Inside this sedan, traditional '50s style is augmented with custom Saddle and Gray leather. The car's power front and fixed rear seats are all-day comfortable, featuring tight hides that display no significant wrinkles. In front of those seats, a Slate dash frames modern Pioneer audio, bright digital gauges and familiar Vintage Air climate controls in polished billet trim. Below that dash, a custom, full-length console anchors convenient cupholders and big Jensen speakers on clean carpet that's protected by color-keyed mats. In front of the driver, a billet steering wheel spins faux carbon fiber accents around a polished, tilting column and billet foot pedals. At the sides of the passengers, custom door panels hang sculpted armrests and stylish chrome handles between modern seatbelts and chrome window frames. And behind the cockpit, a custom-upholstered trunk hides the car's relocated fuel filler. Cars like this awesome Bel Air are very special, and they represent incredible value to buyers. With a high quality restoration that's beyond reproach, and a custom color combination that creates a riot at shows, THIS is the kind of build you simply can't touch for our asking price. Just imagine heading out in this old school classic on a warm summer evening; the burble of the small block as your chorus, the smooth, open road as your canvas, and nothing between your mind and miles of happiness! This is exactly why we created the RKM Performance Center.
