They've got a ton of personality, they're super popular at car shows, and they look like they're raring to go even when they're parked. This orange 1956 Chevy 3100 has all of the charm and style with a ton of power and some nice convenience items...sounds good to us! Orange certainly wasn't a factory color for 1956, but you have to admit it looks great here. The paint job was done a few years ago and it's holding up great with a ton of gloss and depth. You'll notice the face isn't quite right; it's the even more photogenic grille, hood and fenders from a '57. All of the chrome is new and shines beautifully. This is a deluxe cab, so it not only has the wraparound windshield but also the rear window, too. It's a great update from the "five window" cabs of the previous generation, and it's a TON of glass to see out of. Out back you'll find a smoothed tailgate with an oversized bow tie and a whimsical Huckleberry Hound logo, which is a tribute to this Chevy's nickname "Huck." The bed is oak and stainless, and it looks great. The lights and lenses are beautiful, and what trim there was from the factory has been shaved. This truck stands out! Inside you'll sit on a 90's cloth C/K bench seat that's exponentially more comfortable than the stock vinyl slab. The dash was properly painted to match the exterior, as were the doors and the rest of the interior. There's gray carpet on the floor and a gray upholstered headliner above. Aluminum inserts on the doors match the billet gauge cluster filled with Auto Meter gauges. A woodgrain Grant GT wheel is bolted to a newer tilt steering column for a far more modern feel than the stock tiller. A big tach is dead center on the dash while an AM/FM/cassette deck and the vents and controls for the A/C are on the front. It's a great place to be. Pop the hood and check out the 406 cubic inch small block inside. It's full of good stuff from top to bottom. Keith Black pistons swing from heavy duty 5.7 rods while iron heads fortified with 2.02/1.60 stainless valves sit atop. Roller tip rockers get their marching orders from the Edelbrock cam within as the fuel and air intake is left to a Holley Street Avenger carb and a Weiand dual plane intake. An Accel HEI ignition handles the spark while long tube Headman Hedders carry away spent gasses. You'll also find cool custom inner fender panels, billet valve covers and a matching air cleaner, and an aluminum radiator. You could get a small block motor in 1956, but it certainly didn't run or look this good. You'll also find power steering and power brakes with front discs, so you know it's going to drive a bunch better than new. The exhaust is 3 inches in diameter with a pair of Flowmaster mufflers and an H crossover. Power routes back through a rebuilt TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and on to a-12 bolt rear with 3.08 gears for cruising. Chevy 15-inch Rally wheels hold a set of 255/70/15 Grand Am Radial GT tires, and there's a matching spare held in the bed. If you're looking for a truck that can't be missed, pick up the phone and give us a call today! 1956 Chevrolet 3100 for Sale 1956 Chevrolet 3100 for Sale Stock # 1387-DFW Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] Tampa Showroom 4610 Pet Lane Lutz, FL 33559 Local/International: (813) 501-1630 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Well, here's the answer to your question, a spectacular 1956 Chevy 3100 pickup with a burly 454 inside plus a cabin full of luxury options. Talk about having your cake and eating it too! Painted a vivid yet period-perfect Peacock blue, this Cameo pickup represents the first of the pickups that were actually styled by designers rather than merely engineered. As a result, they carry a lot of automotive-inspired design cues, so if you see a little bit of Shoebox Chevy in the design, the coincidence is purely intentional. Of course, the fact that it was finished to a very high standard certainly helps, and there's not a ripple, dent, pockmark, or dent anywhere on the beautiful surface of this truck. The paint is in excellent condition and could easily be taken up a notch with a professional buff, but even as it sits, this truck gets a ton of attention. Enhancing the upscale look is a beautifully finished cherry wood bed with polished stainless strips that tie in with the bright chrome bumpers and brilliantly restored grille. Nothing has chopped or cut, which should tell you something about how right the original design really was, and just a few pieces of trim were shaved to give it an ultra-clean look. They clearly focused on making it right and they've definitely succeeded in a very big way. This truck is very, very nice! Black is the dominant theme inside, with the original bench seat replaced with a late-model unit with a center arm rest and fresh black cloth upholstery. It retains a '50s sensibility, but the modern materials will definitely attract more than their fair share of appreciative nods at shows. Simple door panels were covered in matching black cloth and beautifully bound black carpets soften the interior considerably, and the power window switches were neatly hidden out of sight. The dash uses factory gauges in the original panel, and A/C vents have been discreetly tucked underneath with modern hardware under the hood to chill things down very nicely. A tilt column with a custom billet wheel adds to the 21st century feel, as well as the cool AM/FM stereo head unit that mimics the original AM unit and didn't require any cutting to fit. Nice, right? Underneath that beautiful blue sheetmetal you'll find a burly 454 cubic inch Chevy V8. The big block is a neat fit in the 3100's engine bay, almost as if it was designed that way, and it's got a few dress-up parts like the chrome air cleaner and finned Mickey Thompson valve covers. A big 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold help build reliable power and there's a big aluminum radiator up front. Power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes make this truck a pleasure to drive, and the front suspension uses tubular A-arms. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission clicks through the gears, feeding a GM 10-bolt rear hanging on a set of monoleaf springs that mean this truck handles better than you'd expect. A 2.5-inch dual exhaust system gives it just a little bit of rumble, but it doesn't intrude, making this truck an easy long-distance hauler. Staggered Coys wheels emulate vintage Torque Thrusts and wear 235/55/17 front and 235/55/18 rear Kumho rubber. This is a no-compromises truck built to very high standards, and you'll be proud to call it your own. All the usual tricks work here, and with a strong-running 350 under the hood, what you get when you're done is a fast, fun, and surprisingly practical hauler that will attract a ton of attention wherever it goes. First of all, the bright red paint is an eyeball magnet that grabs your attention and really emphasizes the all-new look of the '55 Chevys. You can forget being subtle and staying under the radar with this one, and once you stop expect to be the center of attention, because it looks like a million bucks. The bodywork, which was already dramatic right out of the box, looks even better when it's been smoothed, shaved, and buffed like this truck's skin has. The paint is fairly recent, so it has an awesome gloss and few signs of use, and really makes the truck look spectacular. Some of the original trim is gone, but the stuff that remains provides a great contrast and has been beautifully re-chromed, including the grille, door handles, and those gorgeous bumpers that are directly descended from the passenger car lineup to give the '55 Chevy trucks a much more finished look. The bed is working class, with a simple plywood floor, but that means it's ready to work as much as play. The interior has been given a full makeover from stock as well, and the working-class accommodations have been replaced by a pair of bucket seats that give it a sporting attitude. Bucket seats are a natural fit in the 3100's cab and they wear custom seat covers that are durable and low-maintenance. Gray carpet fills the floor and keep it from being too dark, and the color-matched door panels and dashboard have been as nicely finished as the bodywork. The original gauge panel is still in place, although a trio of Sunpro gauges under the dash monitors the engine's vitals. Finishing it off is a wood-rimmed steering wheel atop a tilt column, so it's easy to get comfortable. A built 350 cubic inch V8 has been nestled into the engine bay and runs superbly. It isn't necessarily detailed for show, but the small block is a neat fit and the added cubes over the original 1955 powerplant make this truck feel downright quick around town. It's got the usual 4-barrel carburetor and long-tube headers, but it's docile enough to drive every day and never gets grumpy. The blue engine enamel is likely designed to emulate the period Chevy engines and it's a different look under the hood compared to the usual bright orange. Underneath, there's a trick Flowmaster exhaust system with dumps just ahead of the rear wheels and sounds fantastic, while a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission spins a 10-bolt rear end. Power steering makes it easy to handle around town but doesn't detract from the authentic old truck feel going down the road. Shiny chrome wheels wear fat 235/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear blackwall radials that fill the big fenders just right. A neat truck with a lot of potential and a great look, this one is ready to enjoy or could be the foundation of something truly spectacular. Either way, at this price, it won't last long. It is the responsibility of the buyer to either inspect the vehicle personally or via a 3rd party, to ensure satisfaction to the condition and value, prior to purchase. Streetside Classics strives to perform extensive visual inspections on all vehicles we represent but we do not disassemble vehicles or components for inspection purposes and therefore it is always possible that there is hidden damage that is not readily apparent. All vehicles are sold AS-IS with no warranties expressed or implied. Aside from the chrome wheels, it looks pretty much like your uncle's farm truck, but underneath it's a later chassis with a big block and a bunch of modern amenities. Bright red is always the right choice on a vintage pickup, but this one isn't faded and dusty like those you remember from your childhood. Instead, it's been given the once-over to bring it up to modern standards, and the results are certainly eye-catching. The bodywork is straight and clean with good gaps all around and a pleasing forward-looking design that gives the truck a sense of motion. The red paint is a few years old now and may be showing its age, but even from ten feet away it shines up beautifully and looks very appealing. A lot of the chrome trim was shaved, modern mirrors were affixed to the doors, while the original grille was painted to match the body just to clean things up a bit. Chrome bumpers fore and aft add a little contrast, as does the nicely finished oak bed which looks very fresh and has probably never been used for any actual work. It's inside that you start to see the blending of old and new. There's still a wide bench seat that gives three-abreast seating and the 1959 dashboard sweeps from end to end. It's highlighted by the original instrument panel, which is now filled with a modern gauge cluster that's been cleverly designed to fit in the original chevron-shaped housing. Pretty cool! On the other hand, the steering column and wheel are clearly late-model pieces and this truck has also been fitted with an A/C system that uses simple eyeball vents in the dash to keep a low profile. The radio's original slot has been commandeered by the A/C controls and a center vent, but you can easily add your own entertainment if you're creative, but I suspect that you'll discover that this truck is plenty of fun without the need for music, too. The black vinyl seat cover is in good shape and it wears heavy-duty rubber mats to protect the floors. The hardware underneath is what makes this truck special. The frame is from a 1972 Chevy C10, and it brings with it two decades of R&D, so it rides, stops, and handles better than any 1950s pickup you've ever driven. The engine is a 402 cubic inch big block that makes effortless torque and flings the vintage pickup around like a muscle car. It's got a classic Chevy look with bright corporate orange paint and those wide valve covers. Detailing is quite good, with the engine standing out against an all-black engine bay that intentionally stays in the background. Power steering and power disc brakes, as well as a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission make this truck as easy to drive as your modern hauler. Dual exhaust has a burly big block sound and the heavy-duty rear end doesn't seem to mind all the power churning through it. Flashy chrome wheels make it stand out and ride inside 235/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. An ideal combination of old and new, this is a great-driving old truck that simply works the way you'd want it to and remains eminently easy to service.
