This truck underwent a 2-year frame off Resto. It's a period correct resto with only the paint color being changed. Everything was either replaced or rebuilt and we have pictures that show the truck off the frame and the cab down to the metal. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and heartbeat of the Chevy, but first we would like to tell you a little about us. Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. When it was set off the frame they took it down to the bare metal and removed the doors and front end. What work was needed was done and everything was refit before paint. Everything is covered in the Lexus Pearl Red that is accented by the Classic Black Fenders and Running Boards. After paint the windows were reinstalled with new seals along with new weather stripping. All the Chrome was replaced with new down to the door handles. Inside the bed it's also all new and looks great. To keep with the 50's style it has the painted steel wheels with the dish hubcaps and a set of wide white tires. Next, we will look at the interior of the Pick Up. On the inside it's done with the correct bench seat that's covered in the Dark Gray with Red Stitching. The upper door panels are covered to match. The carpet and headliner is done in black. When you look at the dash it all looks correct with the metal part being done in body color. Also, the gauges and the column appear stock. Finally, we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood the inner fenders and firewall are all painted body color and the inner fenders are black. The engine is a period correct 255 L6 that's mated to the 3 Speed Trans and Stock Rear End. The engine is painted the factory Gray and is dressed with the black breather. The charging system was changed to a 12 Volt System. Under this pick up is all done stock with the correct drop axle up front and Four Wheel Drum Brakes. There's a great custom graphics package running down the sides and on the tailgate where it reminds everyone that this is from 1955. In fact, the model year is important because this was the first year for the now-legendary Task Force pickup design. It's the biggest steps forward in civilizing the utilitarian pickup. As a result, customs like this look especially smooth, thanks to their curve-hugging bumpers, crisp lines, and hooded fenders. Workmanship of the bespoke elements are quite good. You can see this especially in the truck bed where the wheel wells were tubbed and the wood has been replaced with matching steel, and there's even a third brake light for safety. Most of the chrome elements have been painted over to help the smooth appearance, but that doesn't mean you miss out on all the '50-style bright work. In fact, it now stands out better in places like the headlight surrounds and dog dish hubcaps. Things only get better inside, where the color scheme continues as a complement to a gray tweed. This looks and feels the best on the bench seat that has been sculpted to deliver individual-bucket style comfort. There's plenty of other nice features for you and your passenger that ranges from the AM/FM/cassette stereo that can be adapted for more modern tunes to vents for air conditioning. The driver gets an aggressive Grant GT steering wheel, and beyond that are a full set of VDO gauges. To the left of the steering column is also a large tach, which is a nice hint at what's under the hood. If you were missing any of the brightwork on the exterior, the engine bay more than makes up for it. The 350 cubic-inch V8 has been dressed with attention-grabbing shiny features like the big B&M snorkel air grabber, radiator shroud, and valve covers. But beneath the great-looking sea of coral and chrome is also some real substance. This V8 has been built with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, .030 bored over kit, amid camshaft, and you'll also see an R134 AC compressor. The motor exhales through long tube headers on its way through the glasspack exhaust. Don't just listen to the roaring thunder of these side exhaust pipes, but also investigate where they live under the truck. That's because you'll be surprised that the bottom even shares color of the rest of the pickup, and more importantly, you can also see the four-link coilover suspension. This Chevy has all the right elements to be both a barnburner as well as nice driver with features like power steering and a three-speed automatic transmission. The grille was painted to match and there's a simple bumper up front with a roll pan with LED taillights in back, and there's just the right amount of jewelry with chrome door handles and mirrors. The oak bed is refinished with stainless rub strips and a hidden fuel filler cap, and the contrast against the white paint is pretty sharp. Inside there's a pair of late-model bucket seats that are comfortable and supportive, and while it's important to realize that these vehicles were tools, the cloth and leather upholstery gives it an upscale look inside. The door panels are finished in a combination of painted steel that matches the body and tweed inserts that soften the interior somewhat. Gray carpets help with noise control and there's a full headliner overhead that makes it feel very finished. The steel dash is intact and full of big, round Auto Meter gauges that appear to have been specifically designed for this application. The rest of the dash has been smoothed for a clean look and a low-profile A/C system was tucked in underneath. The fat Grant steering wheel on a tilt column makes it easy to get comfortable at the wheel, so this truck is ideal for your next Power Tour. Power comes from a fresh 350 cubic inch Summit Racing crate motor, which is an easy fit in the 3100's engine bay. With the A/C system, there's a lot going on, but they still dressed it up with chrome valve covers and a matching air cleaner, and the work looks very OEM. There's a big aluminum radiator up front, a Holley carburetor on an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a serpentine belt drive system for the accessories. Long-tube headers feed a custom dual exhaust system that sounds just about right, and it's got both power steering and power disc brakes thanks to a Camaro subframe transplant. There's also a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, so it's a fantastic highway cruiser, and the 10-bolt rear end is happy to cooperate. The chassis hasn't been detailed for show, but it is solid with no issues rolls on painted steel wheels with staggered 205/70/15 front and 245/60/15 rear blackwalls that look right on a commercial vehicle. They've got a ton of personality, they're super popular at car shows, and they look like they're raring to go even when they're parked. This orange 1956 Chevy 3100 has all of the charm and style with a ton of power and some nice convenience items...sounds good to us! Orange certainly wasn't a factory color for 1956, but you have to admit it looks great here. The paint job was done a few years ago and it's holding up great with a ton of gloss and depth. You'll notice the face isn't quite right; it's the even more photogenic grille, hood and fenders from a '57. All of the chrome is new and shines beautifully. This is a deluxe cab, so it not only has the wraparound windshield but also the rear window, too. It's a great update from the "five window" cabs of the previous generation, and it's a TON of glass to see out of. Out back you'll find a smoothed tailgate with an oversized bow tie and a whimsical Huckleberry Hound logo, which is a tribute to this Chevy's nickname "Huck." The bed is oak and stainless, and it looks great. The lights and lenses are beautiful, and what trim there was from the factory has been shaved. This truck stands out! Inside you'll sit on a 90's cloth C/K bench seat that's exponentially more comfortable than the stock vinyl slab. The dash was properly painted to match the exterior, as were the doors and the rest of the interior. There's gray carpet on the floor and a gray upholstered headliner above. Aluminum inserts on the doors match the billet gauge cluster filled with Auto Meter gauges. A woodgrain Grant GT wheel is bolted to a newer tilt steering column for a far more modern feel than the stock tiller. A big tach is dead center on the dash while an AM/FM/cassette deck and the vents and controls for the A/C are on the front. It's a great place to be. Pop the hood and check out the 406 cubic inch small block inside. It's full of good stuff from top to bottom. Keith Black pistons swing from heavy duty 5.7 rods while iron heads fortified with 2.02/1.60 stainless valves sit atop. Roller tip rockers get their marching orders from the Edelbrock cam within as the fuel and air intake is left to a Holley Street Avenger carb and a Weiand dual plane intake. An Accel HEI ignition handles the spark while long tube Headman Hedders carry away spent gasses. You'll also find cool custom inner fender panels, billet valve covers and a matching air cleaner, and an aluminum radiator. You could get a small block motor in 1956, but it certainly didn't run or look this good. You'll also find power steering and power brakes with front discs, so you know it's going to drive a bunch better than new. The exhaust is 3 inches in diameter with a pair of Flowmaster mufflers and an H crossover. Power routes back through a rebuilt TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and on to a-12 bolt rear with 3.08 gears for cruising. Chevy 15-inch Rally wheels hold a set of 255/70/15 Grand Am Radial GT tires, and there's a matching spare held in the bed. Well, here's the answer to your question, a spectacular 1956 Chevy 3100 pickup with a burly 454 inside plus a cabin full of luxury options. Talk about having your cake and eating it too! Painted a vivid yet period-perfect Peacock blue, this Cameo pickup represents the first of the pickups that were actually styled by designers rather than merely engineered. As a result, they carry a lot of automotive-inspired design cues, so if you see a little bit of Shoebox Chevy in the design, the coincidence is purely intentional. Of course, the fact that it was finished to a very high standard certainly helps, and there's not a ripple, dent, pockmark, or dent anywhere on the beautiful surface of this truck. The paint is in excellent condition and could easily be taken up a notch with a professional buff, but even as it sits, this truck gets a ton of attention. Enhancing the upscale look is a beautifully finished cherry wood bed with polished stainless strips that tie in with the bright chrome bumpers and brilliantly restored grille. Nothing has chopped or cut, which should tell you something about how right the original design really was, and just a few pieces of trim were shaved to give it an ultra-clean look. They clearly focused on making it right and they've definitely succeeded in a very big way. This truck is very, very nice! Black is the dominant theme inside, with the original bench seat replaced with a late-model unit with a center arm rest and fresh black cloth upholstery. It retains a '50s sensibility, but the modern materials will definitely attract more than their fair share of appreciative nods at shows. Simple door panels were covered in matching black cloth and beautifully bound black carpets soften the interior considerably, and the power window switches were neatly hidden out of sight. The dash uses factory gauges in the original panel, and A/C vents have been discreetly tucked underneath with modern hardware under the hood to chill things down very nicely. A tilt column with a custom billet wheel adds to the 21st century feel, as well as the cool AM/FM stereo head unit that mimics the original AM unit and didn't require any cutting to fit. Nice, right? Underneath that beautiful blue sheetmetal you'll find a burly 454 cubic inch Chevy V8. The big block is a neat fit in the 3100's engine bay, almost as if it was designed that way, and it's got a few dress-up parts like the chrome air cleaner and finned Mickey Thompson valve covers. A big 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold help build reliable power and there's a big aluminum radiator up front. Power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes make this truck a pleasure to drive, and the front suspension uses tubular A-arms. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission clicks through the gears, feeding a GM 10-bolt rear hanging on a set of monoleaf springs that mean this truck handles better than you'd expect. A 2.5-inch dual exhaust system gives it just a little bit of rumble, but it doesn't intrude, making this truck an easy long-distance hauler. Staggered Coys wheels emulate vintage Torque Thrusts and wear 235/55/17 front and 235/55/18 rear Kumho rubber.
