Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D TurboDiesel (W123) The Story: I love Mercedes-Benz. This is my 9th Mercedes, all from 1965 to 1992. After someone ‘stole’ my beautiful one-owner W123 1981 Wagon two years ago (not stolen: I sold it once I finished doing all I could do at home and a gentleman fell in love with it, making me “an offer I couldn’t refuse”), I decided that my passion for W123 needed another Turbo Diesel, so I purchased this 1985 sedan, in good shape for the age and mileage. I took care of some details on this nice sedan, but I purchased at the same time two other old Mercedes (not a good idea!). My job requires me to travel a lot more now, and I have not been working diligently enough on my old cars (4 now). I need to open space and focus on one car at a time. I purchased a lot of parts for this W123, but have not installed most of them, so it is time to let this one go to someone who will pay attention to this noble and unbeatable car. My listing: I have been an eBay member forever (15+ years) and never had negative or even neutral feedback, just 5 stars. I have sold 3 cars and purchased 4 on eBay with perfect feedback. I don’t promise you a perfect car, but I promise I will be as accurate as possible in all my descriptions, so you can choose if my car is what you are looking for. The car: a very good Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo Diesel ‘panzer tank’. As my 18 year-old son, who prefers his 328i BMWs (obvious at that age) said: ‘if I was forced to pick one car for the rest of my life, it would definitively be my dad’s tank… there is no way it will die… it goes forever!’. Looking at the CarFax, it is possible to see that it has been a Florida car, not living or purchased on a strong-winter state, with salt on the roads. The valuation: I attached Hagerty’s valuation report on the car. I honestly believe the car is a bit better than a 3, for its originality and operating condition, but I am sticking to the 3, so the market value is at least $5,700. I am including with this listing some parts for more than $800, and that’s why I am asking for $6,200 for the car. Can you find cheaper ones? Maybe, but I am providing you as much detailed information as I have, so you can make a sound decision, minimizing risk. The transaction: I am willing to help the new owner of this 300D, cooperating with shipping. I will not coordinate the details, but I will help you by coordinating with the driver so the car can be transported to other state or country. The details: · Exterior o (+) All original factory paint, untouched (DB 681 Manila Beige), except for the trunk lid’s paint. Beautiful lines, door gaps, etc. o (+) No visible rust, surface rust or any visible indication of rust under the paint (bubbles, etc.). o (+) Beautiful and near perfect tail lights & lenses. No signs of cracks, damage, etc. o (+) Very Good headlights. Headlight doors are original and with some little mini-cracks on the driver’s side that make them look old. Not critical, no urgent need to replace them as they are fully functional, but… o (+) Radiator grill is in great shape, as well as the star. o (+) Air intake rubber front attachment is like new. Very hard to find a car with rubber in this condition. o (+) Battery tray in like-new condition. No rust. o (+) Clean engine bay water drains. No signs of rust there. o (-) Rear left bumper was pushed by other car in a parking lot. Bumper itself is not bended or damaged, but the slow-speed collision system in this 300D absorbed the minor impact and is retracted about two inches (see pictures). No damages to the bodywork, paint, tail light, etc. o (-) Trunk lid had a dent. The dent is fixed, but the pain work is horrible and not professional. It is dull and I didn’t allow the shop to put even clear coat on such a bad job. It needs to be painted in DB681 Manila Beige. o (-) Small scratch in driver’s front fender, at the wheel arch. It is minor but noticeable o (-) Although the car has all original/factory paint (except for the trunk lid), it has a number of little chips on the paint. o (-) Windshield has to small chips, probably from small stones. Both chips are contained and very small. Please see the pictures. · Interior o (+) Complete original Palomino interior. Only a small tear on the driver’s side (back rest, left side). Nothing else. o (+) All new vacuum actuators in all doors and trunk. I didn’t change the actuator for the gas-tank door. o (+) All original floor mats with correct channeled insulation. Very good shape. All carpet interior could use a shampoo, but there are no damaged areas. o (+) All switches and controls work: sunroof, rear reading light, emergency/parking lights, defrost, etc. o (+) Combination switch works perfectly. Two step turn signals, wipers, high beam, etc. Strong and positive feedback. o (+) Original correct Becker radio-cassette with fully operational memories, LCD display, and four speakers. The antenna is not the original Hirschman o (+) A/C Control Unit working fine, for heat and cold. o (+) A/C blows cold, even for South Florida summer. Once I experienced an all-hot air issue, that seams to be the related to Monovalve’s diaphragm. This might need attention soon. o (-) Two cuts on the headliner: One over the passenger’s head, where the headliner meets the sunroof and another small cut over the rear passenger middle seat. o (-) Woodgrain in A/C control unit is not completely glued to the metal plate that supports it. I did clean-up both parts and put gentle pressure for 2 weeks, but the wood is a little concave at the edges and it does not sit perfectly on the metal plate. No a functional problem, but it is not perfect. o (-) Wood finish on the center console is damaged. The protective clear coat was removed, but the wood veneer under the protective coat was scratched. Professional help or a new-used one on ebay (aprox $50) will fix the problem. o (-) Missing seat net on the driver’s seat back rest. Available also on eBay, although a bit harder requiring more patience. o (-) The radio antenna is not original. It is a manual fixed antenna, not the original retractable Hirschman. o (-) Driver’s door weatherstrip has a small missing part, which generates wind-noise at 50+ MPH. Both front door rubber weatherstrips are included with the car. o (+) It has a new ignition switch, not done properly (with the matching original key), so you have one key to start the engine and another for the doors. No issues at all with locking mechanism or steering wheel lock. Ignition switch works perfect.o (-) There is a stain (looks like paint) in this 300D's trunk carpet. Please see the pictures. · Mechanics o (+) Very strong engine. I drove from Tallahassee to Ft. Lauderdale (470+ Miles) in one single drive without a problem or inconvenient at all, at highway speeds up to 75 MPH. o (+) Engine starts immediately, even when not used for weeks. Just let the glow plugs get ready and starts at first crank and fast. o (+) Never had an issue with the starter. Fully reliable and fast thus far. o (+) Engine stops immediately too once you turn the ignition switch counter clockwise. No hesitation. o (+) No noticeable differential noise or any noticeable indication of wear there. o (+) Automatic transmission shifts fine, with no significant delay (less than 1 second) between parking, reverse, neutral and drive. Fluid is quite clear and red-transparent as expected on a well-maintained car. o (-) I believe it has the original transmission so it might have all 220,000 miles on it. It feels a bit slow upshifting between 2nd and 3rd. I had no issues with slipping, long delays or anything like it so far. It has a small fluid leak and I had to add fluid twice (I check fluid levels every time I drive it). o (+) Brakes were overhauled by previous owner and work perfectly, including new rotors and pads. Not shaking or trembling when braking at all. o (+) Cooling: all hoses and radiator seam to have been changed recently. Both hoses as flexible and look like new rubber and I have not experienced leaks or even a minimum overheating while driving the car. o (+) Suspension: all shocks seam to work just fine. No bouncing or noises. o (-) Steering has a little play, like 1 ½ inches total. This model has steering play as a feature, but this is more than spec. I think it might be tie-rods, so I ordered all new and just didn’t have time to replace them (you get them with the car). No pulling or vibration at all. o (+) Tires: all new, identical tires. All correct and original alloy wheels, including the spare tire wheel, as expected. o (+) Original MB tool set in original cloth wrapping. MB tools inside. o (+) Stable engine on idle, but anyway I ordered MB engine mounts and transmission mount, and you will get them with the car. o (-) Oil leak from oil-cooler’s high pressure hose. It seams to be at the rubber part of the hose itself and not at the oil-cooler. o (-) Oil leak from the turbo area. Very common on this model. Although the turbo itself works great (it pulls strong and solid), I included a turbo overhaul kit from mercedessource.com, including instructions to fix the seals and replace impeller and compressor, bearings, etc. o (-) Engine bay: there is not hood-pad installed, but I purchased an original Meyle hoodpad. It is included with the car. o (-) Windshield washer reservoir: it has a leak. I ordered and installed a new rubber ring, and cleaned nicely the reservoir, but it still leaks. At this point I don’t know if there is an issue with the little pump or with my installation of the ring. · Parts included: o $30 - Radiator hoses (123 501 0082 & 123 501 1882) o $250 – Turbo overhaul kit, with impeller, shaft & compressor wheel o $60 – Hood pad o $150 – tie rod & drag link kit (2x 123 330 1803 & 123 460 1505) o $90 – Front door seals (2x 123 720 1678) o $120 – engine & transmission mounts (2x 123 241 3013 & 123 240 2518) o $80 - Drive shaft flex disk (126 410 0215) o $30 - Drive shaft center bearing mount & bearing (123 410 1081 & 6006.2RSR.C3)

This 300D has been my daily driver since 2008. I have done a complete work through of the entire car which is referenced in the picture of the excel spreadsheet maintenance tracker. Although the mileage is almost at 229k, any professional diesel mechanic would tell you that with all the preventative and preemptive work that I've done or had done, this car will outlast most brand new gas burning cars on showroom floors today! For a fraction of the cost of a new car, you get to cruise around in a classic Mercedes at 26-27 miles per gallon while feeling safe in this full, heavy gauge steel body that doesn't have any rust. Here are some highlights of maintenance items completed: -Compression test in 2009: all 5 cylinders greater than 300psi (excellent) -New Timing Chain and Tensioner -New Valve Stem Seals -New Front Crank Seal -All gaskets and O-rings in engine compartment -All fluids/filters replaced regularly -All new rubber components throughout entire drivetrain -All new joints/bearings for entire steering and suspension system -New Paint in 2009 (shows some light sun damage now that would probably buff out) -A/C converted to R-134 with new compressor in 2010 (needs a recharge and new drier but works) -Rear seat reupholstered and front seats re-stuffed in 2012 -New front windshield -New front and rear windshield seals and all 4 doors and trunk seals all new-Rebuilt front brake calipers, new master cylinder, new brakelines and fluid flush/bleed in September 2015 There is more but too much for me to keep typing. I can provide more info if you like but you really just need to come drive this to appreciate it. I have a whole binder of receipts that all reflect the work annotated in the excel tracker picture. I don't really want to get rid of it but I have two other Mercedes diesels that take too much of my time plus the military told me I have to move so I offer you this deal. Thanks and have a good one!

Selling Mercedes Benz 300 Turbo Diesel 2.5 W124. 143673 miles on odometer .This is very nice looking Benz , runs and drive good , it has 4 brand new Michelen tires, plus spare Michelen tire in like new condition ,original jack and key wrench included. Battery is brand new ,fuel filters. and belt recently replaced. A/C is working as it should , blowing cold , sun roof ,open /close properly, first aid (original) included. Interior is in good condition , carpet is like new , always protected with original Mercedes Benz rubber mats ,as well as power seats in good condition with no rips , dashboard with no cracks , original radio (Becker) and antenna working good. Interior lights , front and rear , all four door lights are working. Driver side and two rear windows operate , passenger window is not operating , front passenger side door panel have crack (see picture), owner manual and service record included , as well as two keys. Dashboard light working but rheostat (dimer $20) need to be cleaned or replaced to lit dashboard properly. Outside car looks very nice and presentable, paint is overall good condition , to be a perfect coat of wax it will bring hi gloss back. One dent on the rear ,passenger side ( see picture) . No reserve price. Car have NO warranty, I am private seller and you can buy and drive car anywhere in US with no problem.You can see car condition in person or judge by pictures. 1987 Mercedes 300D turbo diesel with automatic transmission. Converted to run on vegetable oil using a 2-tank Greasecar kit with additional modifications including fuel injector line heaters and adjustable fuel return line. The dual fuel system runs on regular diesel fuel or vegetable oil. The tires are like new - they hardly have any miles on them. It has a recent alternator, new battery and a new fuel pump. I recently had the fuel injectors out for service and upgraded some fuel system components. The engine starts instantly when you turn the key. The odometer stopped working soon after I bought it at around 165K miles and I estimate it has about 225K miles now. The paint on the top surfaces of the car is oxidized. The windshield has a crack on the passenger side. The A/C does not work.

This is a 100% totally RUST FREE ALWAYS IN ARIZONA 1982 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel which is documented three previous owners and has always been owned ONLY IN ARIZONA. The dove gray paint appears to original and not faded. There appear to have NEVER been any type of repair or repairable damage to this car in it's lifetime and since the finish is so good it must have been garage kept most of its life.It also has a wonderfully preserved original interior.The car starts cold immediately, runs, shifts, steers, and drives fine but like most of these MB diesels accelerates slowly.Features1. Check the photos of behind the rear wheel, the rocker panels, and inside the rear wheel well. This car is body perfect in every way.2. Four NEW TIRES3. Interior is exceptional. Seats, door panels, carpets, all are near perfect. This car always had sheepskin full front seat covers on and there were full carpet covers throughout the car. The rear seats may not have ever been sat in. The seats, carpets, door panels, and headliner have virtually no wear and NO RIPS of any kind.4. Power windows and sun roof operate well. This automobile has zero rust.Zero drips.Never damaged.Sunroof, windows, door locks all work, some slowly.All dash gauges, clocks, speedo, odometer, trips, all work.All lights, flashers, signals, wipers, work.New tires with less than 2,000 miles on them.It has some paint peel from the AZ sun on the top, hood, and trunk. I am NOT going to paint it. I am leaving it original for you to decide what you want to do. All of the following is documented with written receipts. (changed plate number) MILEAGE 59,500 (he may have sold the business, or retired, don't know. based upon next doc, I presume retired.)3. Service record from Mercedes Benz of Tucson 9/11/2000, AC vacuum servo replaced, recharged. New motor mounts. Same plate number (Mr. Young). MILEAGE 59,889 Only 389 miles put on in 2 years.4. Ownership transferred to another owner. Do not know date.5. Service at Discount Tire in Sierra Vista, 6/29/2010. New owner, new tires, 4 wheel alignment. MILEAGE 92,7516. The AZ registration on the car when I bought it this week ran out in 2011. So the car has been sitting for 4 years.7. Today. MILEAGE 93,355We are in the process of thoroughly cleaning interior and exterior of the car and replacing one panel on the driver side seat. In the pictures, the interior is still dusty. This is exactly as we purchased it. It will be fully detailed prior to shipment including engine bay and underside, although underside is completely clean as is.We will check the brakes and replace any cracked rubber flex lines that need it and if we replace any lines we will drain and flush the entire brake system.We will run the car for 30 to 50 miles in local traffic to make certain everything operates properly. Right now there is a SLIGHT injector stick on idle. Very slight. We will put diesel cleaner in the tank to try to eliminate this but it is negligible and will eventually fix itself as the car is run.We will recharge the AC system so that it is operating cold. You can buy it now in the condition described above.Once we spend more time on this car and have all power accessories operating like new the price will increase to reflect our added expense, if any. This is probably the best '84 300 D Turbo on Ebay. I have had the privilege to help a guy sell this car, he used to own a repair shop in Norman OK for years. He's retired now and not in the greatest of health. It was driven by his wife every day, and if it needed something he did it. He also won awards at Pebble beach and other shows for his cars. All I did to get this car ready to take pictures was wash the dust off of it, no high dollar detail job to hide flaws. The engine compartment was very clean for a diesel. The tires might have 100 miles on them and it was just serviced, fresh interstate battery. The Becker cassette radio even works. EVERYTHING works on this car. If you are looking for a classic that will run for another 250k miles come get this one.
