1972 Ford Mustang Grande!! Restored with a little something extra under the hood!!!I was finally able to get a video together.Complete walk around of this awesome car!https://youtu.be/Br5Kgfndr70Beautiful 1972 Ford Mustang!!!Update:The new distributor is in and she\'s running awesome!! Took it on a good cruise last night and it ran awesome!!I\'ll list things I forgot in italic.UPDATE 9/1/15:I decided to go ahead and finish off the ignition system, so I\'m having a Summit racing street/strip distributor installed and timing set at one of the best shops here in Vegas!!! As good as this baby was, it\'ll be scary good now!!! He\'s also going to recharge the AC. I\'ll update to let you know how we came out! I also hope to have more picts. and a video up Thursday!!This 1972 Ford Mustang Grande has received an awesome makeover with some Mach 1 touches, and it comes with a little something extra under the hood!!!Any issues that needed to be addressed have been addressed. It is ready to roll!!The car came equipped with a 351c (Q code) out of the factory which has been replaced with the 429 CJ. It has an automatic C6 tranny. It has front disc brakes and rear drums. It has factory AC which has been converted to R134a. The compressor engages, but I haven\'t tried to charge it yet. I\'ll update when I do.Where to begin with this beautiful true American Muscle Car??!!! A brief history I suppose, as I often find the history of these classics to be a fun part of the story. About eight years ago a grandfather here in Vegas bought this car as a restoration project to do with his teen age grandson. His first decision, which was a great one, was to replace the tired stock 351C with this 429 CJ (Block stamped D1VE 6015 AA) and a set of D0VE-C heads! A great power plant to get started. The 429 was rebuilt by a local machine shop and placed in the car. I talked to the machine shop but due to the length of time they didn\'t have any paperwork on it, but going off of everything I\'ve seen, this is a very low mileage rebuild. After the powertrain was finished and a few other things restored, the car was good to go. Now, what happened next would seem pretty predictable to many. 16 year old gets fast car. 16 year old and fast car get into fast trouble. As the story goes, the 429 didn\'t hit 1000 miles before the local law shut the young man and his Pony down in there prime. So, into the garage it went. Grandpa decided it would be best to finish restoring the car and sell it. He stripped it down and took it for paint. When it was finished it was put back in the garage and as happens many times, it just sat. He would go out every so often and start it, maybe take it on a short cruise, but that was it. For eight years the car sat until some fortunate guy stumbled upon it. Enter me.When I first saw the car and the engine set up, I knew it had the potential to be something special. I wasn\'t disappointed and you won\'t be either!! I am a petroleum/ pipeline mechanic by trade and had recently ran into some medical problems that has forced me to take some time away. I missed working with my hands, so this seemed like a great opportunity to be able to work on something at my own limited pace. I also had a lot of help from a great mechanic (thanks Matt) and a great detailer (thanks Arron) and their wives that allowed me to steal them for hours. I had one simple goal in mind when I got this car: Put one hell of a fun classic American Muscle car back on the road where it belongs!! The goal was not to build a trailer queen, but rather a quintessential weekend/ road trip cruiser. I had hoped that by the time I got it complete, my health would have improved to the point that I could afford keep it. You\'re reading this, so obviously that part didn\'t work out. But that\'s ok, I\'ve had a lot of fun and this Pony has provided me with a lot of therapy (some aches and pains too!). This car is road ready. Mission complete!!!Now that I\'ve bored you with a little history, let\'s get to the fun stuff. I\'ll go section by section.I: Interior: The interior is really nice. The carpet is good and the seats are good. The dash pad is in great shape and the dash face is nice and complete. All gauges are there and working. The speedo does bounce a bit. I may take a look at it if I get a chance. All molding and trim is there and in great shape. The a-frame pillar on the drivers side has had a repair, but it looks good. Here are the new parts on the interior:1: New Headliner with accoustishield sound deadener.2: New deluxe door panels.3: New window felts.4: New CD/DVD player. I still have the original unmolested bezel that will come with the car.5: New rear speakers.6: New Package tray, covered with matching carpet.7: New Forever Sharp steering wheel (really nice).8: New printed circuit board.9: New instrument voltage regulator.II: Suspension: Funny thing happens to weight bearing bushings that don\'t get used for eight years; they fall apart. This was a major emphasis on this cars restoration and the results are great!! Here\'s the list:1: New Grab a Track rear leaf springs. We went with a stock ride height and it handles and rides excellent.2: New Grab a track rear sway bar end links.3: New rear shocks.4: New upper ball joints.5: New Lower control arms.6: New outer tie rod ends.7: New inner tie rod end bushings.8: New Idler arm bushings.9: New power steering pump.10 New power steering hoses.11: New Grab a track sway bar end links and bushings.12: New Cooper Cobra GT\'s. We went with 275/60/15\'s on the rear and 235/60/15\'s on the front. On these mag wheels they look awesome and perform flawlessly. Alignment was done after install.III: Electrical: The electrical system on this car was good; not all hacked up like you find in a lot of these. All lights; taillights, turn signals, brake lights, head lights, fog lamps and sport lamps work. The only ones that don\'t are the back up lights and the fasten seat belt warning light. I\'ll see if I can take a look at them. Here\'s the list of new parts.1: New alternator.2: New starter cable and battery cables.3: New voltage regulator.4: New voltage regulator harness.5: New solenoid. 6: New headlights.I: Body/ paint: The body is completely straight on this car. It was essentially rust free (that\'s the great part about finding one in the desert climate). The only repairs that were necessary was a little rust under the passenger side taillight area on the trunk floor. The worse part was about the size of a half dollar and the lower taillight to taillight panel bracket was a little corroded. We fabricated a new bracket and installed a new bumper reinforcement brace on the trunk floor just below the taillight. About a 3\"X3\" piece of sheet metal was welded in. I applied POR 15 and hit the trunk with spatter paint. Good to go and looks nice. The panel itself is perfectly fine, but maybe a bit thin with age. The only other repair was the battery tray area. We all know how battery acid and metal get along. It was all confined to the tray area though, and the battery tray has been replaced with new.The rest of the body was completely solid. Doors are good, floor boards, quarters, fenders, cowl, roof and hood are all solid. The paint is good. A solid 20 footer. It does have some flaws in it. There are some chips here and there, but the shine is great. It was probably a $2k paint job, not a $5k+ so look close at the pictures. Under the hood is very nice. It was not an engine out restoration on my part, so the engine compartment was just cleaned up and lightly sprayed around the sides etc. It is very tidy in appearance, but not smooth like glass.There\'s a small crack in the paint on the hood. Not really noticeable, but in the interest of full disclosure I wanted to mention. Here are the new body parts/ upgrades.1: Added new Mach 1 grille complete with sport lamps.2: Added Honeycomb panel to rear taillight panel.3: New Fuel cap.4: New front spoiler. Looks awesome!5: New rear valance.6: It had a short belly stripe on it which I didn\'t like, so we added a plasti-dip stripe that brought the belly stripe up to the lower body line. We finished it with a chrome pin stripe. I really like it, but if you don\'t, just take it off and shoot your own stripe or whatever you like. That\'s the great thing about plastic-dip; it\'s durable, easy to touch up but still easy to remove!7: Installed factory correct racing mirrors. Drivers side is remote.8: New door weather strip, new window weather strip, new window felts, new cowl molding, new rear window weather strip and new trunk weather strip.9: New rear window chrome molding.10: New wipers.11: New headlight rings. I\'ll add more when I think of it.V: Mechanical: Here we go! We started with a fantastic power plant, so my only goal was to enhance what was there and make sure everything worked as it should. It didn\'t disappoint!! The 429 is strong and doesn\'t skip a beat and the C6 is solid and tight! Here\'s the list:1a: New Summit street/strip distributor just added!1: New fuel tank and sending unit.2: New fuel lines all the way to the carb.3: New Edelbrock 1406 600 CFM carburetor w/ electric choke.4: New MSD Blaster 2 coil. Epoxy filled for horizontal installation.5: New MSD plug wires.6: New MSD plugs.7: New power steering pump and hoses.8: New heater core with new gaskets and seals in heater box.9: New radiator hoses (upper and lower).10: New heater hoses.11: New thermostat.12: New heavy duty transmission pan.13: New transmission fluid and filter.14: New rear brake shoes.15: New rear brake line.16: All new air, breather and oil filters.17: All fluids fresh.18: New Edelbrock 1726 Performer Series 110 GPH fuel pump.Summary:This is a beautiful classic American Muscle car. It\'s not a museum car; that was never the intention. What we wanted was a nice, fast, fun, reliable great handling cruiser. We got that and more. The car isn\'t perfect, but it\'s pretty damn awesome. There are always little things to tinker with and upgrade, but that\'s the fun part; sometimes a weekend project is just what the doctor ordered! The heavy lifting is done on this classic. This is a car you will love cruising on a Saturday night or take it on a roadie. It\'s a great handling cruiser with plenty under the hood to scare the hell outta your significant other!!Please email with any questions. I\'ll continue to update as I think of things. I\'ll try to get a link to a video of it running! I think the price I\'m starting it at is very fair. NADA classics puts this car with this engine (which wasn\'t offered in \'72) in mint condition at around $30k, so I think half that as a starting point is a great place to start. I literally have thousands in this (have receipts) and countless hours of work with my helpers. This is the best deal around for a car in this condition with this power plant. It\'s ready for you; it\'s ready for someone to get in her and DRIVE!!!! $16,000 OBO. Please serious only! No trades, no low ballers, no tire kickers. I know what this car is worth, and the price is more than fair.Of course this is an as is no warranty car.Buyer must pick up locally or arrange any shipping. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>
