I have up for sale a nice 1991 BMW E30 325ic. It is a pretty original car, and is a rarer plastic bumper convertible with leather interior.Clean titlePasses smog in CA, new tags and ready for transfer202,4xx miles on a working odometerNo rust Good Points:- Alpine White II on Indigo Blue leather- Late model plastic bumpers- Matching VINs on all panels except the driver side fender, which is a BMW replacement DOT-R stamped fender.- Top recently replaced, in excellent shape and has been converted to a manual top.- Interior in very good condition for its age. No cracks or tears in the front seats. One puncture on the rear seat bench, and one tear in the stitching up top on the rear seats- Clean uncracked dash- All windows working - New cat and exhaust- Just performed engine tune up consisting of a new Continental timing belt and pulley, along with a coolant system flush, new water pump belt, spark plugs, oil change, valve cover breather hose, and intake boot.- Paint is good around the car, except for the trunk lid, which the previous owner has painted in white primer. Not very noticeable until you get close, or someone points it out. It also has an "is" spoiler installed, and a new "i" lip.Weak Points:- Automatic transmission. Some people like an automatic, and cruising with an auto does suite a convertible very well, but the transmission itself is starting to lose reverse. It will not reverse up an incline. Flat surface it will reverse fine, but the clutches will slip if it needs to push the car up an incline. A fairly common problem with these transmissions. Other than reverse, the transmission operates perfectly fine. I have a known perfectly good automatic transmission pulled from a running car that is included with the sale. - A/C not working. The compressor comes on, makes no strange noises, but the system has no freon in it. Might only need a charge, might need a leak fixed - not sure. I'm pricing the car VERY fairly in light of the transmission swap needed. I've recently seen late model convertibles in mint condition with asking prices between $11-14k. This era of BMW's are going up in value, and lower production late model convertibles are going to be some of the more valuable E30's to own. I'm a BMW enthusiast, have too many E30's, and I'm downsizing. This BMW is being sold AS-IS, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warrant of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Fit and finish are excellent and thanks to proper care over the years (and just 1500 miles per year) it still shines up beautifully. Things like the black bumpers, fog lamps, and even the rubber components all remain in excellent condition with few signs of age, a perfect throwback to 1980s fashion and performance. Remember the simplicity of German luxury? Not over-loaded with tech, but clean, concise, and straight to the point, the BMW was definitely built for the driver and the road. Handsome well-bolstered tan leather buckets show a few age-related wrinkles but nothing major and even in a convertible, the hides remain remarkably supple. Darker carpets give the interior a well-finished look and this car was built before airbags were mandatory, so the steering wheel is a beautiful 3-spoke unit that's just awesome. Big, clear gauges offer up all the information you'll need and there's a period AM/FM/cassette stereo in the dash. Of course, not everything was simple in 1988, because the HVAC controls are still tough to decipher and there's a trip computer with an array of tiny buttons, but no car is perfect. And yes, that's a built-in car phone, the perfect accessory for your 1980s convertible. A snug-fitting German canvas convertible top fits better than most and still has a clear rear window, while the trunk is well-shaped and useful, top up or top down. BMW's 2.5 liter inline-six was legendary for its turbine-like smoothness, flat torque curve, and brilliant exhaust note, all of which are proudly on display in this ragtop. It turns out that these engines are brutally reliable, easy to service, and still a joy to drive in today's era of 600 horsepower supercars. It purrs to life effortlessly and thanks to a relatively light curb weight, 189 horsepower turns out to be plenty of fun. Linked to a 4-speed automatic transmission, it's easy to drive and doesn't mind the daily grind as well as hustling down your favorite twisty road. Initial considerations The car was bought last year with the intention to be my daily driver given the overall mileage and condition of the vehicle, but I soon realized that car is not really well suited for winter times, so basically it has just been stored for the last 6 months. Now I need the parking space because the family is growing and a bigger car is needed and therefore unfortunately I ll have to let this one go without actually having enjoyed it the way i envisioned. Having said that, depending on where you live, Get ready to enjoy the summer days and I m also positive this car is mechanically sound enough to be your daily driver and will give a lot of satisfaction. I quite like the colour combination; I wouldn’t call the dark metallic blue a rare colour (Royal Blue metallic), but it definitely sets the car apart from the usual red, white, black, gray and bronze found on E30’s and it goes really well with the blue top; I know opinions of that matter are entirely subjective, so have a look at the pictures and take your own conclusion! It has a clean carfax and it s completely stock with the classic chrome bumpers and bottlecap wheels. Engine The engine has only 58k miles, starts right up and there s no such thing as rough idling. There are no leaks, brakes (including ABS) work as they should, automatic transmission is smooth with absolute no surprises. The previous owner said he didn’t have a long service history and unfortunately all he had was lost by me when i was doing a major clean up in my apartment (lost the service history of another bmw of mine too =[ ). Having said that, the timing belt was changed 6k miles ago and the drivetrain and oil change have always been serviced properly. Although the service history got lost, part of the history can still be confirmed on the carfax report and as i mentioned before, i can try to send you that if requested. I am including on the sale a brand new timing belt and water pump in case the new owner prefers to do some preemptive service. Interior I consider the interior of the vehicle to be in really good shape, it s not a garage queen, but you can tell whoever owned the vehicle took good care of it. the dashboard is crack free, sport seats have no rips or tears, AC, all electric windows, power mirrors and on board computer work as they should Body The soft top is in very decent condition and it s the BMW OEM one, not some aftermarket replacement. Having said that, 2-3 weeks after buying the car i was doing some work on the interior and ended up damaging the rear window. It was a small hole, but it had to be replaced and in this case i did use it an aftermarket rear window. The body is straight and the car is accident free. The original paint shows some age, but still shines really well and the only part where it s fading is on the fuel lid/cap. I cant find any rust in the body, absolutely 0 rust. When I bought the car the soft top lid was not working properly, so I had the shocks replaced and the cables adjusted, the side windows rubber channels that prevents water from coming in while help holding the windows in place were too dried and starting to crack, so I also had them replaced by brand new ones. Wheels are clean and tires are new. Flaws There are a few scratches and some dings on the car, nothing crazy for a car of that age As stated above, car service history was lostFront bumper got hit by something that left a "scar" on it, it doesnt bother me, but i can help soucing a replacement bumper if the new owner wants to replace it , think it costs 50-75 dollars to find another one.Radio doesnt seem to be workingBrake light on the check control unit is always on even though all the lights do work properly, searching online i found out that s something many convertibles e30's suffer from DisclaimerThe car is sold as is, without any warranty. This is a 1987 BMW E30 325i convertible with 180000 miles. the car includes BBS rims, Mustang 5.0 injectors, adjustable coil over shocks, BMW performance chip, BMW stock chip, and new exhaust from the headers back. The interior includes aftermarket seat warmers, a Kenwood radio, and the a/c has been converted to r134A. The paint is in great condition, the convertible top is waterproof and in great condition. It does have small patches as you can see in the pictures. The previous owners closed the top improperly, and it was later professionally repaired. The top has only one very small leak were the top connects with the windshield on the driver side. The only problem is the pressure plate will need to be replaced. It does have its flaws but every car of this age will. This is overall a great car to a collector or just the everyday driver, I need it gone due to my new project. It does have a clear title, so don't let this deal pass you,it is a great car for an excellent price.
