Up for sale is a 1997 Ford Econoline 5.4 High top Conversion van. This is a strong running van. I installed a Pioneer DVD dash unit It will need a new batteryIt does have some minor rust on the body behind the rear wheels. The AC does not work due to the rear AC unit has a leak in the system. Overall I think the body is in decent shape.

Old and Used Vehicle. Engine Runs well and Vehicle drives. Handling a little difficult due to poor alignment. Some cracks in upper body caulked. Considerable rust damage to conversion supports under bus body. Passenger steps need to be replaced and the passenger side door is currently not operable, consequently. One of the passenger-door windows is secured with duct tape. Please notice that the last of the pictures is from time when the door did open - the door is currently as described. I merely included the picture because it is an otherwise accurate depiction of the right side of the bus. All 15 seats now have working seat-belts. Rear tires all new. Front tires also recent. Air Conditioning repairs made one year ago. AC not working as well as when fixed then. See pictures to assess rust damage under body. Lots of fun for children. Windows work and provide beautiful bright sunlight. I'm trying to disclose all the bad as I feel I was not fairly informed when I purchased this in summer of 2013. But there is something good here for someone who wants to put time and money into repairs. This is the reason why most pictures are of the terrible things you could see about the undercarriage that neither we, nor any of the mechanics who worked on the van, saw for the first year we owned it. If you do work yourself, or know someone you trust, this 4x4 Dually might make a great bus or RV. Make an offer. Rust damage must be repaired to pass PA inspection. Initial estimates ranged from 5,500 to 8,000 dollars to have work done professionally.

This is a very high dollar van, with an astoundingly rare and desirable 7.3 4x4 conversion package. It also has dual rear wheels, and looks VERY cool. This van is loaded with every option imaginable from the time. The paint is in fantastic shape for the age and mileage, and it was always garage kept and fleet maintained. It is extremely comfortable and has 6 huge captains seats. It has a manual transfercase for the 4x4, and everything works exactly as it should. Mechanically it runs and drives well down the road, but as one should expect from any 20 year old van, it does have some oil leakage, and for some reason cruise control wasn't working for us. Everything else seems to function as it should! It has upgraded sound system with added speakers, separate radio and headphones in the back, separate rear air controls, and tons of wood grain! You will not find another Van for sale like this, it is truly one of a kind, and if you know what your looking at, you know the value of these. You are bidding on a rare, government contract built, 1997 Ford E-350 XLT, extended body, 6.8 Triton V10, Quigley SuperTrak, factory 4x4, dually van. Yes, it’s a four wheel drive DUALLY, one ton, extended van. It’s the MOAV – Mother Of All Vans! Here are most of Ford the factory options I can think of on this Ford, E-350 XLT, extended cargo van: Power windows.Power locks (all doors).Power steering.Power brakes.Cruise control.Tilt steering column.Intermittent Wipers.Push button overdrive.AM/FM Radio.Clock.Factory tinted windows.Air conditioning (blows very cold). This van was originally built under contract with EMI Technologies by the U.S. Government as a communications and radio frequency monitoring / surveillance van. I purchased it from a commercial truck dealer licensed with the government to sell commercial government vehicles that were being rotated out of service from their fleet. I am the first and only owner since it left the government fleet. I was told by the dealer, the government reps they spoke with said these vans originally cost around $102,000 each to build. The dealer had that original cost detail posted in their sales data related to this van (see image of their auction verbiage). There were only ten of these surveillance / monitoring vans made in this particular EMI contract. I only found six others from this batch that sold on the internet and they were snapped up very quickly by hobbyists for various other uses. Most of these other Ford, 4x4 vans which sold from this batch had in excess of 50,000 miles on them when they sold, I think one had around 70k. I was told this particular van was the spare (backup unit) of the fleet which was only used when one of the other vans was out of service. As a result, this van only had 12,318 actual miles on it when I purchased it and the generator only had about 100 hours on it. This is a factory Quigley, four wheel drive – DUALLY - conversion with manual locking hubs. I have all the documentation, parts lists and specs on this specific four wheel drive conversion from Quigley. This Quigley four wheel drive dually conversion alone cost over $13,000 beyond the $50,000 cost of the E350 van itself. Here are the EMI installed options or modifications that I can recall or know about: It has 80 inches of interior headroom in the center walk-in section! The added walk-in sections was added by EMI and is made out of heavily reinforced aluminum, is extremely sturdy and can be walked on without any noticeable flexing or bowing. When used by the government, it had some sort of large, heavy, retractable satellite dish mounted to this roof. So it can hold a decent load. The usable work area in the back is a little over 4’ by 5’. Plenty of space for one person and workable for two if arranged correctly. Interior is in great shape (non-smoking) - looks and still smells new. They used custom Flexsteel brand seats for all three seats in the van (the best custom seats on the market). It still has all of the equipment racks, controls, power supplies and drawers it had when purchased. Equipped with a large AC unit in the rear that is typically used in mobile homes that will freeze you if you turn it down all the way! It was designed to keep the van cool even with all that rack mounted electronic equipment running inside it. For the winter and cold climates, it has an additional electric heater system in the rear that functions correctly as well. Internally mounted, vibration/noise/exhaust isolated, ONAN 6.5K generator that has only 105 hours on it! The generator starts and works as it should and powers the equipment, rack-mounted power supplies as well as the interior and exterior power outlets, lights etc. SMC NX14, 8 section, 44 foot telescopic mast, that has not been tested. These are apparently the same type of industrial grade masts the military uses. I was told it functioned correctly when I bought it, but have never checked or used it since it had two (air?) hoses disconnected when I bought it. The controller still powers up properly, I’m assuming it all still functions properly – but have not tried it out. We were eventually going to remove this mast – so it functioning was not important to us at the time. If I recall correctly, I was told by SMC these masts cost around $11,000 with the controller – either way, I know they are quite expensive. All of the other vans I watched sell from this EMI build only had 33’ masts. This mast shows the seals to have been last serviced on 09-08-2005. Two stationary antenna mounts on the back of the roof section which are still wired with cables. Garmin mushroom antenna mounted and wired through the roof. Two roof mounted yellow rotating lights that work and are quite bright. You’ll need to check the legality of these lights where you live. Dual battery setup that has a parallel function that can be switched on and off.Master power cutoff switch. Dual gas tanks and a fuel transfer pump to pump gasoline from one tank to the other.Adjustable interior lighting for the workspace.Smoke alarm.Exterior, covered 110V GFI outlet.Other mobile home type power outlet hookups.Center console (doghouse) was removed at EMI and a very sturdy, aluminum mount was installed to accommodate a laptop computer mount. The interior could be configured by the buyer in different ways. I have an additional (third), matching Flexsteel captain’s chair for a bolted floor mount and a work shelf that were originally in the van but were removed after I bought it. They are included in this sale and can both be reinstalled by the new very easily. There are no holes, tears or rips in any of the seating or headliner. This van has obviously been very lightly used its entire life, which consisted mostly of being stored in a government warehouse and sitting in our driveway. There are also high powered exterior floodlights on the front, sides and rear of the roof of the van which can be manually adjusted to point most any direction. Services I’ve had done since owning it: Replaced all six, E rated 10 ply tires - all have around 2000 miles on them. It has dual batteries, both of which are new. Both fuel pumps replaced new on both fuel tanks. Both front brake calipers (and pads) replaced as the old ones were just starting to stick. It just had a full coolant flush and oil change.New air filter. Two new Anco Contour wiper blades. Things of note: There are a number of miscellaneous cables that come out of the dash near the center console. I know one of them is for a GPS as it still has the mount on it. The rest of these cables will require someone with electronics/communications expertise to sort out what they are and what they go to in the van or used to go to. I have no idea what they are or do – or whether they even work still or not. The government obviously removed all of their (specific or restricted) electronic equipment from the van prior to sale. The equipment that you see is what you get – nothing else. All of the non-factory/modified wiring done by EMI or the government, cables and other things in the van are completely unchanged from when I purchased it. I was told by the dealer they were unchanged as they received it from the government. As stated above, I have no idea what most of that is or if it even still works. Since this van has a 44 foot tall mast installed by EMI, they also installed some sort of stabilizer footing mounts on the frame ends that extend past the bumpers to keep the vehicle stabile when the mast is up. All four of the mounting points are still there, but there were no footing attachments on the van when I purchased it. If that’s an important safety issue for you, that will need to be corrected by the buyer. It is missing the spare wheel/tire from its storage location under the rear of the van. There is a dent on the driver’s side at the bottom of the body behind the rear dual wheels. It appears someone backed over something and rolled the lip of the body up a few inches. It was like this when I bought it from the dealer. It did not break the bedliner type coating or paint there and does not affect the performance of the van – so I left it alone. Other than the dent behind the driver’s side, rear wheel noted above, the van body is in exceptional overall shape for an 18 year old van. While there is some very faint surface rust appearing on the outer vents (which usually washes off), other than that - there is no detectable body rust and certainly no through rust on this van. This vehicle has never been in an accident of any type since I’ve owned it. It showed to be clear of any accidents when I purchased it and there are no signs or indication it has ever been wrecked. There are a few screw holes in the dash front where it appears equipment mounts or microphone mounts were once located. They are small and hard to notice, but I wanted to note them. I had nothing to do with the original build or any modifications of this van. While there are some things I know about it or may have figured out, I’m sure there are several things I don’t know, have missed or don’t know about. I do not have the full builds specs from EMI on this van. While this van is in incredible overall condition and has very low mileage for a used vehicle its age, this is still an 18 year old van and is not perfect. THIS VEHICLE HAS NO WARRANTY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. IT IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS. We purchased this van in early 2010 with the intention of converting it into a Sportsmobile type camper van, but had a couple of wonderful kids instead! We kept it for the past five years thinking we might still have a chance to convert it over – but that’s no longer in the plans. I have only put roughly 2,000 miles on this van since we purchased it. Some of it was just driving it around town for 10-15 miles a month to keep things working properly. You can see from one of the photos what the commercial vehicle dealer's ASKING price ($35,995) and CASH price ($29,980) were in their auction listing back in 2010. This van would be a great van for: Adventure camper van.Motocross – dual sport support van.Remote news vehicle.Radio communications support van.Ham / shortwave radio vehicle.Storm chaser van. Mobile command post for local law enforcement.Camper van conversion (similar to a Sportsmobile)Or even the perfect bugout vehicle. $300.00 NON - REFUNDABLE deposit with the remainder to be paid within seventy-two (72) hours of auction end. I have a clear Missouri title for this vehicle. This vehicle is posted for sale locally in on other websites and subsequently this auction could end without notice. I am not interested in any trades and do not need any help selling this vehicle. Test drives available only to those who prove they have the funds to complete the purchase. Contact me 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, CST . CELL: 816 - eight one zero – 1818. NO TEXTS PLEASE, I will not answer them.

This is a '97 Ford E-250 4x4 Quigley with the 5.4 engine, 138,089 miles, and 8600lbs GVW. It has a nice Bluetooth Clarion headunit ,speakers, and MTX sub and amp, power windows/locks, cruise control, cold ac, abs, and a class V hitch with 7 prong plug. The rear is insulated with carpeted walls, new carpet, and a rear seat that lays flat or pops out with a release handle. Runs, drives, and looks like the well cared for vehicle it's been; no funny smells, check lights or any such like. Formerly disability equipped. The tires should be replaced before winter and there is a small dent on the left side above the wheel as pictured are the biggest detriments. It was replaced with a Baja Chinook is why it's for sale. Thanks for looking. Make offer. Tags: sportmobile, camper, adventure, off-road, rare, lift, lifted, crew, crewcab, custom, conversion
