I bought this truck in 2010 with only 45K miles on it. At 85K miles this is probably the LOWEST mileage 1997 Suburban you’ll find! This was a truck that was kept at a friend’s vacation house (celebrity chef Charlie Palmer) so it did not get much use. I’m the third owner of the vehicle, the second owner was my friend who started the build – I bought it from him and completed the build. I LOVE this truck, put $30K as you can see from the build sheet into it but am not using the truck since I travel a lot so here it is for sale. The truck is painted Boyd Codington flat black. We painted the exterior and all the door jams but not the inside of the engine compartment. Taillights were misted over. Overall mechanical condition of the truck is good. Starts every time and runs great with no known mechanical issues or oil leaks. Truck has NEVER, EVER been taken off road, mostly driven around town and to and from Denver. It was my daily driver for four years – very reliable and always properly maintained – oil changed every 3K miles. New transmission in 2011 as part of the build. I have the complete service records since I owned it and most of the receipts from the project. This is a nineteen year old truck so……condition comments that I’d note (see pictures): crease in driver’s side door, touched up hood rust spots, minor rust underneath vehicle, third row seat missing, significant wear on driver’s side seat, rear headliner sagging, and backup camera connection behind stereo keeps coming loose. Tires have about 40K in miles on them so probably 10-15K left. Not a perfect vehicle but looks really cool! No trades, cash only. Purchase requires a $500 PayPal deposit, balance in cash only. The oil has about 2200 miles on it so you can see engine condition Why am I selling it you want to know? I have moved to Arizona. My suburban is still in Michigan.. It's easiest for me to sell the suburban and rent 26ft a moving truck and take it all in one shot. Otherwise I will have to return for a second trip. If it doesn't sell it, i will be getting in this and driving it 2200 miles to arizona towing 6500lbs, returning 2200 miles back to get the rest of my stuff, and then another 2200 miles back towing about 4000lbs. New GM VIN number matched 5.7L 350 engine professionally installed in November 2015. 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty. Less than 500 miles on new engine. The 1997 Vortec 5.7 liter V8 was an increase of 50 horsepower from previous years. Other enhancements for 1997 included a beefed-up automatic 4 speed gearbox to handle the stronger engine and a new, electronically shifted transfer case that eliminated the floor-mounted mechanism. 1997 also brought a passenger side airbag. Electronic, variable-assist power steering provided more assist at lower speeds (such as when parking) and less assist at higher speeds (to allow for better road feel). Other steering enhancements included a smaller turning radius for 1500 models, making the four-wheel-drive Suburban easier to park and better able to handle tight spots when off-road. It's a 1997 and has the 350 Vortec and 4l60e trans. Over 165k miles but runs great. Just replaced the transfercase, 4wd works perfect. 6" Rough Country lift. 35" mud grapplers with 18" ballistic wheels. Soundwise I have a Clarion flip out head unit hooked up to two 12" MTX sub's with a Kenwood 1k watt amp. It's LOUD. Blue LED's in the gauge cluster and around doors etc. It does very good offroad. As you can see it has some dents and scratches and it's missing some shit on the inside. It's not meant to be a truck I would take to a show. It's for hauling shit and offroading.

Despite the off-road-ready looks, it appears that this one has spent most of its life protected and carefully driven and the shiny finish is a testament to the care it has received. These trucks are still handsome and functional-looking, one of the best designs if you're a fan of big SUVs, and with details such as the fender flares, chrome brush guard, and matching tubular step plates, it takes on a very serious look. We don't see any evidence of paint work or repairs and having lived in a warm climate all its life, obviously rust is not an issue you need to worry about. It sports the desirable dual "barn door" configuration instead of a conventional tailgate, which makes loading it up in close quarters a lot easier. Chrome bumpers, big driving lights up front, a roof rack, and a CB antenna only add to the highly capable look. The sumptuous tan leather interior was one of GM's best, rivaling anything from Cadillac and making the Suburban the most luxurious GM vehicle you could buy in 1997. The seats, even the driver's chair, are in excellent condition with minimal wear and no damage or discoloration. Heavy-duty mats have been protecting the carpets since Day One and the second and third rows are almost like new. Unquestionably someone loved this truck and treated it like something special. Just about everything was standard, including front and rear A/C, a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo with custom speakers and an amplifier hidden under the seat, cruise control, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, and the list goes on. The instrument panel has been dressed up with a walnut veneer and there are a myriad of storage cubbies, cup holders, and other useful touches. There's also massive storage in the rear area, even with the third seat in place, making this this ultimate road trip warrior. As I mentioned, the 2500 came with a 454, but the one in the truck today has been heavily fortified to make considerably more power than the stocker. There's a bigger cam inside, the ECM has been reprogrammed to ensure smooth running even with the upgrades, and a throaty dual exhaust system gives it a wonderful muscular soundtrack. It looks fairly stock under the hood with signs of careful maintenance and care over the years and as with most GM trucks of the period, parts are plentiful and service is easy. The 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago and the transfer case and axles are fully operational. The suspension wears a six-inch Skyjacker lift kit, which includes new control arms, new urethane bushings, and heavy-duty shocks that shrug off impacts on the road, and all the factory skid plates are still in place. Shiny Mickey Thompson "bullet hole" alloy wheels are part of the package and wear big BFG All-Terrain rubber. With lots of receipts for all the recent work, this immaculately kept Suburban is a rare find. So many of these trucks were abused and used up, it's remarkable to discover one that's been loved.
