This 1980 Mercury Capri was originally titled to William Clay Ford Jr., the great-grandson of Henry Ford, and now Executive Chairman on the Board of Directors of Ford Motor Company. He had it modified in January of 1980 by Andy Hotton Associates as follows: Converted to convertible with Mercedes type back end, installed Roush race car engine, special paint and trim, wire wheels and much more. It is believed to be the first prototype of the ASC McLaren that started production in 1984. William Clay Ford Jr. graduated from college in 1979 and joined the Ford Motor Company. One if the things he worked on was new product. Muscle cars were a big thing, so they wanted to look at making a production muscle car that the average person could buy. He bought the 1980 Mercury Capri (copy of invoice available) and contracted Andy Hotton Associated to modify it as follows: make into convertible, install a Mercedes type back end, new paint, Star Wire Wheels, Roush 302 pace car engine with 351 heads, new interior and more. WCF, Jr. passed the car to a young lady friend who in turn sold it to my niece about 1986. She drove it a little then stored it in a garage in Michigan. It has less than 17,500 miles total. When she bought the car there was a young man with the lady who said he was a son of Any Hotton. He told my niece that this car was used as the model for the prototypes of the ASC McLaren in 1984. If you compare appearance of this car with an ASC McLaren you will find they look alike. I transported the car from Michigan to my warehouse near Orlando. Shortly after, I noticed it was leaking oil on my warehouse floor. The problem was the motor mounts had deteriorated and allowed the oversize oil pan to rub on a frame brace wearing a hole in the pan. The motor was removed, oil pan repaired, new motor mounts, fuel pump, new clutch, new electrical, the motor was cleaned and painted and a few other things. (Invoice available) I have had knowledgeable car people estimate the value from $18,000.00 to $80,000.00. I have about $22,500.00 in the car, not counting the years of storage. I own a minivan and love it. If it were a small airplane or a motor home I would know what I ma doing. At 77 years I am trying to empty my warehouse and simplify my life. Features Include: Power Locks A/C Cruise Control Custom Wheels Custom Paint Custom Engine Non Smoker, Garage Kept Please contact us at 877-392-2891 and mention Listing ID #114697 or visit ClassyAuto.com for similar vehicles from private sellers.

Radical Custom 1951 Mercury 2 door CoupeDesigned by Rick Erickson owner of Extreme KustomsThis frame off custom build started off with a hard to find supersolid Ca desert car. To start the build this car was totallydisassembled and every stock body panel or part used in this build wasmedia blasted, inspected and repaired if required and then sealed in anself etching zinc epoxy. Ricks goal was to build a knock your socks offShow Stopped yet truly be able to drive it comfortably like a modernsports coupe. We had no budget to hold us back but from many decades ofreal hands on experience we decided to rework the stock mercury frame even thoughmercury had done a great job with their stock factory frame. We installed an upgraded 1980 Trans Am frontsuspension clip and added bigger Willwood disc brakes, A big 1.375sway bar and big 7 air bags for a superior ride. In the rear weinstalled a 1968 Camaro 12 bolt posi with Willwood disc brakes, ChrisAustin parallel 4 link with a pan hard bar so we would not have torework the rear seat floor, U notched the frame and installed 6 airbags. We mocked the suspension up with 20 wheels %26 tires to make sureit would lay frame with these bigger wheels some are starting to like. For a motor we installed a rebuilt Ford DOCH V8 coupled to an Aodautomatic transmission. Now the frame was the easy part but not sofor the all thecustom body mods. There is over 1,800 hr of just custom metal fab done to the body. Most noticeable is Ricks supper SleekFast Back Chop with the B pillar removed and the 1951 rear windowreplaced with a 1950 merc, The hood has been extended %26 peaked with Sscoops plus made into a full wrap around, The rear fenders have beenextended and slightly sectioned with custom made tail lights,Removable lower fenders / skirts, Custom made rear bumper apron andsplit bumpers, Custom made teardrop headlights, Custom made frontbumper apron and spilt bumpers, Custom made grill opening and splitVett grill and theres more . For the interior it has a customwraparound dash in to the door caps all the way to the rear packagetray and back up front into a center console back into the dash, Powerwindow regulators %26 new style door latches installed, Power trunklatch, Tilt steering column. Power brake unit with modern under dashpedals installed. Custom made stainless steel engine compartmentpanels. This Mercury when finished will surely raise the bar in the radicalkustom Mercury world. We at Extreme Kustoms are Only interested in selling it to the rightperson who has the means to pay for it plus the desire to have usfinish it in the near future !!!!$110k FIRM AS ISSeriously interested contact Rick Erickson / Extreme Kustoms 951678-3520Email#####@####.### Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

Up for sale in the Houston showroom is one of the most iconic cars in history, the 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am \"Bandit\". The Pontiac Firebird was a car designed by the Pontiac division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002. The Firebird was introduced the same year as the Chevrolet Camaro and coincidentally shared the same chassis. This move by GM coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, which shared its chassis with another iconic car, the Ford Mustang. Firebirds were used in the Trans-Am racing series in the 1960s and 1970s. When the Firebird Trans Am was released, there was a lot of noise over the model\'s inability to compete in the Trans-Am because the smallest available engine was too large for use in SCCA presented series. The name also caused controversy because it was used without permission from the SCCA, who threatened to file suit against GM. GM ended up settling the dispute by paying $5 to the SCCA for every car sold. And also let\'s not forget Smokey and the Bandit was a smash hit at the box office. Bankrolled with an original budget of $5.3 million which was cut to $4.3 million two days before initial production and the film still grossed $126,737,428 in North America making it the 4th highest grossing movie of 1977. The worldwide gross is estimated at over $300 million. In the final year of the Second Generation Firebirds (1981), the Trans Am for sale still used the same engines as it had in the previous model year, with the only change being the addition of a new electronic carburetion system atop the 301 cubic inch Pontiac. 1980 and 1981 saw the biggest engine changes for the Trans Am since 1972. The 301, offered in 1979 as a credit option, was now the engine to have. Backed by the 3 speed automatic transmission and a 10 bolt Pontiac rear end, I guess you could say this car was made to fly. Signed by the Bandit himself, this is a car show magnet. Original BANONE license plate is with the car along with Burt Reynolds signed autography with letter of authenticity. Options on this gorgeous 1981 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am include: A/C, am/fm/cd radio, power door locks, power windows, power brakes, power steering, tilt wheels, t-tops, numbers matching and aluminum alloy wheels on performance radial tires. California Sidewinder This is are clasic in all original condition. the transom is weak. Seacast will fix it. This is powered by the authentic Tower of Power Mercury 1500. Trailer included. read below the history. we have two of these boats. The other is boat only with no power. Brokered Boat 10.28.11 The Sidewinder trademark (for boats) was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 6, 1969, under the name of Los Altos Marine Incorporated, located at 4898 El Camino Real, Los Altos, California. In their 1969 model full colour brochure, Sidewinder Boats claimed to be the world's largest designer/producer of V-bottom ski boats, with manufacturing facilities in California and Canada. Built for speed, Sidewinders were designed for the ultimate in racing, skiing, and personal pleasure. World record holder, Ken Baker, had designed two high performance hulls - the famous V bottom and the new tunnel. These hulls were multi-laminated and assembled by hand. Variety and choice were the order of the day with standard and deluxe versions, thirty-two colour combinations, and power plants from outboard through inboard-outboard and jet available. Appointed with choices of metalflake trim, racing stripes, tuck and roll wrap around vinyl seating, and colour keyed all weather carpeting, these stylish, powerful, and manoeuvrable boats turned heads at many a beach. (In fact they still do!) Models available in 1969 were the V- bottom, low profile (Lo Pro) designs in 16 and 18 ft. lengths. Both could be had in the Deluxe version (16 ft. at 750 lb. and 18 ft. at 900 lb.) or the "stripped down" (100 lb. lighter) Standard versions. They could be had in outboard (135 hp max for the16 and 150 hp max for the 18), inboard/outboard (140 hp max for the 16 and 225 hp max for the 18) or jet drive (350 hp max for the 16 and 500 hp max for the 18 - although text in the brochure claims up to 600 horsepower was available!) Engines up to 455 cu. in. could be had. The tunnel model version, used predominately for racing, was available in either a 15 ft. or 17 ft. length, and could be custom built for single, double and triple outboard engine classes. The revolutionary Super Sidewinder 16/18 ft. design was filed for a patent (by Ken Baker and Ronald Plescia) in the US on October 17, 1969 and granted patent on November 3, 1970 (Patent Number 219,118). Subsequent patent designs were filed and granted for the 14 ft. Super, XL deep-vee, and XL Tri-hull. In 1970, Sidewinder relocated from Los Altos, up the road to 3545 El Camino Real, Palo Alto. In 1970 and '71 boats were also manufactured in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Meanwhile Sidewinders were being manufactured under the Cobra name, by California Fiberglass Limited in British Columbia, Canada. In 1971, Ken Baker, president of Sidewinder Marine, Inc. in Palo Alto, California was in litigation over a lawsuit filed by Sidewinder Marine against twenty manufacturers, who had copied the revolutionary Super Sidewinder design, first produced in 1970. Imitators included Marlin, Tahiti, Wriedt, and Taylor. In 1971/72 production moved from Palo Alto to Anderson, CA. and by July 1972, at least four manufacturers had admitted infringement on the Sidewinder design patents. About 1971 Canadian Sidewinder production moved to Ontario, where, by 1972, they were manufactured as Sidewinders - not Cobras, by California Glass Marine. In 1974 the Thompson Boat Company purchased manufacturing rights for Sidewinder boats and continued to manufacture them under the Sidewinder banner at Peshtigo, Wisconsin. Later Sidewinders (by this time only the 16 and 18 ft. Super models) were built by Thompson in St. Charles, Michigan and finally in Swan Creek, Michigan. In Canada the last Sidewinders were made in the late 1980's and California Glass Marine folded in the early '90's. The last US Sidewinder (the 18SS) appeared in the 1990 Thompson Boat Company brochure. Thompson met its demise in September 2002, when the assets were sold in a liquidation auction. 1969 Information
