1977 Porsche 924 Hatchback with Sun Roof Copper/Tan The paint is faded and buffed to within an inch of it's life. It will probably need a repaint. The driver side fender has damage behind the wheel opening that was repaired. The passenger side fender has a curb scuff down low at the rocker panel. There is some rust showing on the fender at the bottom. The body is solid with no other rust through. Interior is Tan vinyl in good condition. The carpets show fade. It has a dash cover over the original dash pad. The radio is a Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette Mileage; 66,551 documented mileage on a clear PA title Engine; 2.0 4 cylinder with a fresh oil service and filter. It has a 4 speed manual trans Current PA Safety Inspection good through May 2016. Options; Sun Roof, AM/FM/Cassette, Alloy wheels, 4 new Hankook Optima Tires, Rear Reflector Panel, Rear Wiper, Head light washers. The A/C is cold. It is all original and in overall good unrestored drivable conditrion. Most likely you will be the only one at the Sunday morning car show with this Porsche type! The car is rust free as you can tell by my photos and videos and has current California registration. Please view my video above and if you have further questions, please call me at 949 – 2 8 5 – 8 0 1 1 Exterior wise, as you can see the paint is in original shape. I believe this to be partly if not all original paint, survivor survivor style! The body is very straight otherwise and wouldn't take too much major prep to repaint it if you wanted to go that route. But as it is the car looks cool too. Has all original wheels in good shape with near new tread depth (but older) Perelli P77 tires all around. There is no rust on the exterior of the body. All the lenses and body molding are in good shape. Pop up headlights open and close with no problem shown in my video above. The interior is original as well. Carpeting is definitely original and was brown to begin with, now it is faded with a greenish tint. Incredibly it has no holes and is actually in really good shape save the fading. Original set of Porsche floor mats are in excellent shape. Dash looks to have a cap on it. Glove box works good, all switches and buttons are in very good condition as this car appears to have been kept up over the years not destroyed and driven into the ground. Driver seats has some splits in the bottom cushion and passnger side has one split in seam. Both seat function 100% as far as reline and seat tracks. Has orignal Blaupunct stereo with all original manuals, this original unit works well but needs a good cleaning internally at stereo shop. Rear seating looks new as well as rear door panel area. Rear trunk area as removable sunroof cover and spare tire with tools! Mechanically, the car starts up first try after sitting for a week! Runs smooth and doesn't miss. Has new hoses and newer fuel lines. Has brand new muffler and exhaust pipe back to the Catalytic converter. Four speed transmission shifts excellent, no grinding or popping out. Brakes feel good and she steers very well. Older set of Perelli P77 tires have barely any miles but are older. Looks to have factory installed Air Conditioning which does not work. The blowers blow and the controls work good. So here is a orignal 924 with sunroof in decent running and driving condition. original Porsche 924 in good running and driving condition! It is all original and in overall good unrestored drivable conditrion. Most likely you will be the only one at the Sunday morning car show with this Porsche type! The car is rust free as you can tell by my photos and videos and has current California registration. I believe this to be partly if not all original paint, survivor survivor style! The body is very straight otherwise and wouldn't take too much major prep to repaint it if you wanted to go that route. But as it is the car looks cool too. Has all original wheels in good shape with near new tread depth (but older) Perelli P77 tires all around. There is no rust on the exterior of the body. All the lenses and body molding are in good shape. Pop up headlights open and close with no problem shown in my video above. The interior is original as well. Carpeting is definitely original and was brown to begin with, now it is faded with a greenish tint. Incredibly it has no holes and is actually in really good shape save the fading. Original set of Porsche floor mats are in excellent shape. Dash looks to have a cap on it. Glove box works good, all switches and buttons are in very good condition as this car appears to have been kept up over the years not destroyed and driven into the ground. Driver seats has some splits in the bottom cushion and passnger side has one split in seam. Both seat function 100% as far as reline and seat tracks. Has orignal Blaupunct stereo with all original manuals, this original unit works well but needs a good cleaning internally at stereo shop. Rear seating looks new as well as rear door panel area. Rear trunk area as removable sunroof cover and spare tire with tools! Mechanically, the car starts up first try after sitting for a week! Runs smooth and doesn't miss. Has new hoses and newer fuel lines. Has brand new muffler and exhaust pipe back to the Catalytic converter. Four speed transmission shifts excellent, no grinding or popping out. Brakes feel good and she steers very well. Older set of Perelli P77 tires have barely any miles but are older. Looks to have factory installed Air Conditioning which does not work. Vehicle Starts, Runs and is driveable although a good tuneup is "STRONGLY" RECOMMENDED. It has been sitting in my garage covered up with it's car cover for the last two plus years. I installed a battery and fresh fuel and it fired right up but it is extremely "cold blooded" until it warms up. The car had been previously painted before I obtained possession of it and it does have the usual scrapes/scratches of a 38 year old vehicle but I can not see any evidence of any body work that was done on it. The windshield has a crack in it on the passenger side but it does not affect the driver's view. This is the Martini-Rossi Championship Edition. One of approximately 2000 that were manufactured between December 1976 and March 1977 which should make this 924 a rare specimen. The Porsche 924 is a luxury sports car which was produced by Porsche AG of Germany from 1976 to 1988. A two-door, 2+2 coupé, the 924 replaced the 914 as the company's entry-level model, and was the model that finally retired the 912. In production terms, the 924 was the first Porsche model powered by a water-cooled, front-mounted engine although the similarly configured 928 was designed first. The front-engine, rear wheel drive arrangement was normal for most other manufacturers, but it was unusual for Porsche having previously only used mid- or rear-mounted engines of a boxer configuration, all of which had been air-cooled. It was the first Porsche to be offered with a fully automatic transmission.The first official appearance of the 924 took place in November 1975 (as a press launch rather than a motorshow appearance) at the harbour at La Grande Motte, Camargue in the south of France. The model was a success with just over 150,000 produced (from 1977-1988), and it not only helped to take Porsche out of financial ruin, but created the revenue stream needed to continue building and developing the 911. The 924 was replaced by the 944 (also a successful model) in 1983 in the U.S. market, but continued to be produced until 1985 for other markets.For the 1986 to 1988 model years, the car acquired the powerplant from the 944 model and became the Porsche 924S. This listing is for a very nice 1977 Porsche 924. This is a beautiful car and is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. It starts right up and runs strong. The vehicle starts, idles, and runs nicely with grind-free gear shifts and responsive braking. It doesn't burn any oil and has no mixing of fluids. Neither issues of corrosive rust nor rot are evident on the body or frame with factory undercoating complete and intact. The windshield and all glass is clear with zero cracks. The flip up headlights function correctly and have fast smooth action. It was painted with the correct Porsche Color, Copper. The paint is in pristine condition. Some of the pictures show what appears to be spots on the paint but they are actually just dust in my camera lens. The tires have 75+% tread remaining and are Cooper Starfire Spectrum LXR P185/70R14. The original leather bag for the sun roof is included. All the gauges work perfectly and the electrical system is excellent. The dash, gauge cluster and the rest of the interior is in good condition and the original cargo cover is in good cosmetic condition. The heater works great. A Blaupunkt CD player was installed. All the leather is nice except for one spot on the passenger seat. Overall, simply a beautiful example of a 70’s era sports car with charm and period good looks which will bring the new owner years of proud ownership. This vehicle deserves to be driven more often then I get to enjoy it. I am the second owner and it was purchased brand new in Denver. There are 5 original Porsche alloy wheels included. The other subtle work completed would be quickly identified by those who know this model. The removed factory option headlight washers and rubber bumper guards are included. The factory muffler was replaced with a Magnaflow glasspack for a sportier exhaust note under load and and considerably cleaner look over stock. Dash gauges, warning lights and dials are functioning, with the exception of the voltmeter which recently gave it’s last reading; although the battery is strong and has never been an issue or given cause for concern. The head/tail/brake/turn and reverse lights function properly. A few wiring gremlins usually associated with these era cars are present, and as I am not adept at wiring, I never attempted to diagnose (intermittent rear wiper, two side markers, interior light, interior fan speed). I will ask for assistance during the duration of the auction to repair these few items, and will add to the listing if successful. After a drive, a small spot of oil is found on the floor weeping from the front of the oil pan gasket. A preventative/piece of mind maintenance tune-up was completed recently including the following Bosch items: Starter, cap/rotor, ignition wires, plugs, ignition coil, fuel filter, Mann air & oil filter, oil/coolant service, main oil seal, belt set and ignition switch.Overall, simply a beautiful and honest example of a 70’s era sports car with charm and period good looks which will bring the new owner years of proud ownership. 1977 PORSCHE 924 - A VERY UNIQUE FIND - ONE OWNER. This is a 1977 Porsche 924, one owner car. A 4 CYLINDER/4 SPEED, the car was bought brand new in Anchorage, Alaska. Never saw a snow flake. Driven occasionally in the summer and always garage stored. It has a front-engine and rear-wheel drive with a rear-mounted trans-axle connected to the engine by a rigid torque tube in lieu of a conventional drive shaft. Weight distribution is 48/52. 95 hp. The original owner, for medical reasons, could not drive it anymore. It was then shipped to his brother in Nevada. The car spent 16-18 years in a storage facility. It was fired up and driven once a year. I bought the car and brought it home. After I started the detailing on the car, I realized what a gem it is and what great condition it is in. I put a new battery in it, fresh gas and dialed the engine in. Then, took it for a drive. This car runs and drives like the day it was made. The odometer just turned on to 39,000 original miles while I was driving it. The car itself is in excellent condition for a 37 year old car. I am attempting to sell this 1977 Porsche 924 for restoration, it is not road worthy and will have to be towed. It has been parked for many years. I was told that it needed a fuel pump when it was parked but I do not know for sure. It has a large dent on the top, see pictures. Mileage is 91,340.
