For those of you around during the early horsepower wars, cars like this 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne 2-door sedan are the stuff of dreams (or nightmares, depending on what you were driving). This is a genuine California V8 car, but it\'s been rebuilt and restored to emulate the nasty factory-type hardware that was prowling the streets in 1962, and with 458 horsepower on tap, even today\'s performance cars should be looking over their shoulders. Ermine White is about as low-profile as it gets, and it\'s easy to imagine walking into your local Chevy dealer and pickup up a stripper like this. Check the right boxes and you have a factory-built race car that takes no prisoners on the street, all wrapped in an unassuming wrapper that\'s perfect for catching the other guy asleep at the wheel. Following a complete restoration several years ago, it\'s been driven only about 1000 miles, and the thundering 409 (more on that in a moment) has less than 300, so it\'s really fresh. The bodywork is excellent, showing off its California heritage to great effect with super straight panels and even gaps that are critical on a white car. The chrome was refinished to look right, not too shiny and perfect, and other than those subtle crossed-flag emblems with a little \'409\' underneath, this is one heck of a sleeper. The blue plaid interior is correct for this particular car, and is pretty much what you\'d get after spending every extra penny on the hardware up front. It\'s nicely finished and has that kitschy look that makes the performance so entertaining. There\'s a proper Hurst for the 4-speed and an accessory tachometer strapped to the steering column, so the performance hardware is in place but not screaming about it, and with radio and heater delete, it\'s exactly the way it would have been delivered from the factory. The steering wheel is beautiful, the gauges look bright and crisp, and just about everything inside is as it should be and in great shape. Spatter-finish paint in the trunk, plus correct mats and even a bias-ply spare on a steel wheel complete the package. If you bought Chevy horsepower off the showroom floor, this is pretty much what it would have looked like inside. Now, about that engine. This isn\'t a real 409 car, but that doesn\'t matter. What does matter is that this period 409 has been punched out to 481 cubes and makes a dyno-verified 458 horsepower at 5500 RPM. The engine has less than 300 miles on the build, which features a lopey Isky cam, Ross forged aluminum pistons, and a pump-gas-friendly 9.6:1 compression ratio. Detailed for show, it hides in plain sight with a stock air cleaner and those wild valve covers, complete with \'409 horsepower\' right on their faces. Heck, this one still runs a generator and you know there\'s no power steering or brakes to hurt performance. A T10 4-speed feeds a beefy stock rear end, which has surprisingly mild 3.55 gears inside. The undercarriage is detailed like it was just built, although that exhaust system doesn\'t quite manage to damp the muscular engine\'s voice. Plain white wheels with poverty caps and 7.50R14 blackwalls complete the sleeper look. This car is simply amazing to look at, but it isn\'t until you drive it that you realize just what a beast it truly is. If you like the early industrial-strength hardware, not many can compete with this Biscayne. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom. Pickup trucks are red hot right now, and that means that examples like this 1962 Chevy C10 are only going to become more popular. It features simple, solid upgrades and a lot of workmanship to create a hauler that you\'ll be eager to show or use. Chevy was hitting on all eight cylinders in 1962, and this gorgeous pickup is a great example of why. Styling was rugged, but nicely detailed, with fluted sides and a simple front end that was a lot more modern than what was on offer just a few years earlier. Of course, the factory never had time to make them look this good, and as usual with a high-visibility color combination, you have to go big or go home. The bright red paint looks awesome on the amazing lines of this pickup, with a finish that still looks but not so good that you\'ll be afraid to use it like a truck was intended to. There\'s also a wooden bed with stainless rub strips and loads of patina, which contrasts brilliantly with the vivid two-tone paint and means that you can still use this truck as intended without worries. The interior has been lightly warmed-over, with a fresh gray fabric seat cover, deep pile carpets in place of the original rubber mat, and neatly contoured door panels that follow the contours of the dash. White paint on the dash and door panels keeps it bright and clean inside, and the twin pods that house the gauges and glove box are an echo to production car design and makes the truck feel less like a tool and more like real transportation. The gauges themselves are simple and kind of neat, stashed behind a single sheet of Plexiglas like they are and aftermarket turn signals were added since they were still optional on trucks in 1962. There\'s a B%26amp;M shifter on the floor that might seem a bit incongruous in this particular truck, with a TH400 3-speed automatic, it seemed like the logical choice. While a majority of these trucks came with an inline-six, this one now sports a proper 350 cubic inch V8. The engine compartment is simple and nicely done, but not so full of catalog shiny stuff that you\'re afraid to put it on the road. The orange engine block almost vanishes in the engine bay, leaving the interesting stuff highly visible, including the chrome valve covers. A chrome air cleaner sits on top of a Demon 4-barrel carburetor, but the manifolds are stock so it runs smoothly and quietly. Power brakes with a dual master cylinder have been added for safety and with an alternator upgrade and power steering, there\'s no reason not to drive this truck every day. A rumbling dual exhaust offers a great sound a dumps just under the rear of the cab, so the soundtrack is pure muscle, and you\'ll be impressed by how clean it is underneath. Classic chrome wheels with baby moon hubcaps round out the look and wear Coker wide whitewall radials for a classic custom look. Look for trucks to continue to be strong in the marketplace, and while you\'re doing that, enjoy this one from behind the wheel. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom. Looking bright and crisp in its dress whites, this 1962 Chevrolet C10 pickup is a wonderful reminder that you don\'t need a modern truck to get the job done. With its original 283 under the hood, that brilliant white paint job, and two-tone upholstery that\'s way more stylish than you\'d expect, this is a fun hauler with a lot of personality. It\'s quite likely there were a lot of these white pickups running around in 1962, but a vast majority of them were working hard and not expected to survive another five decades. Fortunately, this one had caretakers who appreciated its many charms and took good care of it through the years. Somewhere along the line it got a fresh coat of blindingly white Arctic White paint, which, combined with the red inserts on the side trim and the red steel wheels, gives it a very vintage look that seems appropriate for an old hauler. The wood bed was refinished, but not to perfection since this truck still wants to earn its keep, and the bumpers were restored. A lot of the trim remains original, but since it\'s stainless steel, it cleaned up nicely and looks right. The rest of the bed was finished with a spray-in bedliner material that looks good and will last virtually forever. If it\'s attention you crave, this truck knows how to get it. Even more dazzling than the exterior is the upholstery. The factory bench seat remains, but it\'s covered in funky alligator skin hides (white, of course) with red trim and piping just for effect. Experts will note the steering wheel is an Impala piece whose two-tone rim sets the right tone for the entire interior. Factory instruments live behind a single face, a cool effect that almost looks custom-made. The steering column is from a later vehicle, too, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit was neatly installed in the original steel dash. New black carpets keep it from being too red or too white inside and seat belts were added for safety. You can see how easy it would be to spend some time in here, and imagine the crowd that this truck will draw at the next cruise night. As far as we can tell, that\'s the original 283 cubic inch V8 living under the hood. It\'s clearly been freshened and detailed without losing its identity. That\'s the original air cleaner with \"HIGH TORQUE 283\" decal on its face, there\'s bright Chevy Orange paint that really brightens up the black engine bay, and even the original generator is still making the electricity. Underneath, there\'s a brand new single exhaust system with a Flowmaster muffler, so it has a nice V8 burble to go with its arresting good looks, and the chassis shows off a lifetime of easy living. A 2-speed Power Glide transmission feeds the original rear end, while the front end is an independent setup that actually rides and handles quite well for a pickup. And as I mentioned, those red wheels with flashy whitewall radials make keeping a low profile virtually impossible. A clean old truck with a lot of charm, and with a V8 under the hood, it remains fun to drive as well as practical. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom.
