We have decided to sell our beloved 1985 300D Mercedes Turbo Diesel that will run all day and all night on diesel or bio-diesel and/or waste vegetable and get 25 to 30 mpg. These cars are known to get over a million miles and this beauty has just 175,000 miles. She has been serviced regularly and is a safe and reliable daily driver. This specific car has been the subject of discussion on many radio shows as well as been featured in News paper articles. Essentially this 300D has been used in the Real Estate Industry. My wife who is the primary driver is an Evergreen award winner meaning, she is a Nationally recognized GREEN realtor. We have owned this vehicle for about 7 years and we purchased it as a promotional tool specifically to run on Diesel and/or Waste vegetable oil that I myself would process from my home. In order for us to use this Mercedes along side a brand new Mercedes we needed to first find the very best 1985 Mercedes 300D available. Obviously we could not drive a well used 25 year old Mercedes Diesel in South Orange County. This vehicle had to be showroom condition and it was.....and still is today! After a very long search we found what we believe to be one of the very best in the country at the time and we found it right here in California. We purchased the Mercedes from a Mercedes Engineer and was carefully covered in dry storage for many years. The rest is history About the car... This 300D is in, close to like new condition, excellent inside and out as well as mechanically. It was repainted 6 years ago, there are no scratches or dings and the paint shines. The roof was showing a flat spot so it was just painted last week by the same shop that we have used for years. There are a couple of tiny blemishes in the paint but I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. Interior is also 9.5+ out of 10, no tears in seats, no splits in the dash, wood trim is exceptional 2 sets of OEM Carpets are included in Black and tan, exceptional. Naturally, The Black set is more practical so the tan set we removed and kept stored. Mechanical New brakes and slotted rotors front and back were just installed about 100 miles ago. Radiator was replaced at 150,000 miles Complete new OEM Mercedes Compressor dryer and AC system installed at 150,0000 AC Blows cold. In addition to the regular Diesel tank, there is a 10 gallon tank in the trunk that takes, Diesel, Vegetable Oil or Bio diesel. The processing equipment comes with the vehicle however you can choose what you would like to run this car on....your choice!.....Recently we just went finished 300 gallons of vegetable oil so we have been filling both the rear tank and the regular gas tank with Diesel for huge fuel range. It is very difficult to describe this car because it is such a beautiful and exceptional example. It really needs to be seen and I can assure you this has to be one of the best 1985 Mercedes 300D on the market today. The price I am asking is very low and it includes all the WVO processing Equipment that I have about $2000 into. There is also over $1000 of work into the vehicle to enable it to run on the optional fuels. "The equipment was installed by a Diesel Engineer in Torrance" This is a car that you can drive and easily maintain for many years to come and still sell for as much or more than you paid for it. Its a no brainer of an investment. The bad!....Its a very short list. there is a loose wire in the harness that runs through the grommet in the drivers side rear passenger door. Therefor the driver and rear right side passenger window is not rolling down. This did happen about 6 years ago and cost $75 to fix. It seems to have come loose again. I have not had time to have it looked at because it was in the paint shop. The rear window tint is starting haze, I believe we were told this would happen eventually when they installed it due to the rear window defroster....I believe was what they told us at the time. The other windows are perfect its just the rear window. This Mercedes has been worked on in the past by Hi-line Mercedes out of Orange, CA and they have told us this is one of the very best they have ever seen. I believe this particular car was loaded with every available option at that time, Automatic Sunroof, Cruise control, etc. Feel free to contact me with questions or more specific photos that you may want taken.. Following is the information on the WVO Equipment.. WVO Waste Vegetable Oil cleaning processing equipment I have here my Custom designed WVO, Waste Vegetable Oil processing equipment. It was designed and built in around 2010 and there was a story on it in the Orange County Register. Here is the link: ocregister.com/articles/oldroyd-328327-car-oil.html There are 2 x insulated 55 gallon drums with drum heaters. The first drum on the right side allows you to pour really nasty vegetable oil and let it settle while the contaminants sink to the bottom where upon there is a waste discharge valve to pour waste from the lower level. If you choose to speed up the process the drum heater will heat the oil very quickly to where it is steaming hot and very fine and again the waste will sink to the bottom very quickly. When the 55 gallons are ready there is a transfer pump on the lower right that will pump the oil into the left side drum. There is a drum heater on the left side drum too. The process is a centrifuge system using centrifugal force similar to the centrifuge on a big rig that cleans the air brake fluids. The centrifuge is powered by a second pump which pulls from the bottom and cycles around and discharges at the top. The second pump can process about 55 gallons in about 25 minutes but in turn it can clean the oil down to just one or two Microns depending how many times you polish or cycle the oil. Typically I will cycle it 4 or 5 times. When the oil is ready we have a 3rd pump which is the middle pump, this pushes the oil through a water separator and then through a final 10 micron sock type filter in the blue canister, through the filter out of the gas pump trigger and hose. The system works beautifully and will polish oil very much finer than a cartridge or filter system. All in all I have around $2000 plus in parts. Everything works flawlessly. This system will process thousands of gallons of fuel with very little maintenance and pay for itself in no time. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE PURCHASED AND SOLD SEVERAL PERSONAL CARS AND MOTORCYCLES ON EBAY SO I AM COMFORTABLE ACCOMODATING A SHIPPER BEINT TO MY LOCATION TO PICK UP VEHICLE AND WVO EQUIPMENT. 2005 saw the final evolution of the classic XK8 (X100) that was launched to great accolades in 1997 and was soon deemed a more fitting successor to the venerable E-Type Jaguar than was it's predecessor, the controversial XJS...Throughout it's ten year production run the XK8 was continually enhanced and improved culminating with the 2005 model year version. The new exterior changes introduced for 2005 gave the car a bolder, more aggressive and more muscular look. These included re-sculpted front and rear bumpers, boxed rocker panels and elimination of the side rub strips. This appearance facelift was complimented by the larger 4.2 liter engine with redesigned metal timing chain tensioners, much stronger "Morse" multilink primary timing chains and mated to a new six speed automatic transmission, larger wheels and tires along with nearly 900 other under the skin mechanical tweaks that made their debut in 2003. The Quartz metallic paint over Dove leather and black top makes for a particularly handsome combination on this vehicle. To many the X308 series XJ8 (1998-2003) are the last of the true Jaguars, more powerful and fuel efficient than their predecessors, the X300 XJ6 (1995-1997) and sleeker, sportier and less complicated than the "Lincolnesque" X350 that replaced them in 2004. And they can also be a genuine value for money if you get the right one, one that has had the recommended upgrades done to it... The Vanden Plas (VDP) has always been Jaguar's top of the line model offering many cosmetic and luxury appointments not found or available on the standard XJ series. And the X308 was the first Jaguar sedan to utilize the all new AJV8 that made it's debut in the fabulous all new XK8. From the the very beginning this engine set new standards for its power to weight ratio and fuel efficiency. But as these engines gained mileage and age a few design shortcomings surfaced. In their effort to save weight Jaguar designers chose to use plastics in some components namely the timing tensioners and water pump impeller. When these components fail the result could be catastrophic engine failure.Any pre 2003 XJ still running with it's original timing chain tensioners is a veritable ticking time bomb. This subject has been well documented and there is loads of information on the internet, one last word on the subject, you have been warned...This Jaguar Vanden Plas has had the metal timing chain upgrade done as well the latest design water pump and thermostat.On the cosmetic side, the original headliners were prone to failure due to the foam backing disintegrating over time allowing the fabric to sag and droop especially the concave area over the rear seats. Unfortunately the material can not be simply re-glued, the whole backing board must be removed, scraped clean and new material applied. Most upholstery shops neglect to recover the overhead console and sunroof panel resulting in a mismatch. This car has had the headliner redone including the overhead console, sunroof panel and sun visors to ensure that they all match perfectly...I am a retired Jaguar sales professional beginning in 1977, I now enjoy seeking outnice low mile examples of these cars and then sorting them out for the next owner...
