1975 BMW 2002 tii – For Sale Yes, it is a 1975 tii ... and a very rare 1975 tii – not just for the year and legally imported, but it came from the factory with a sunroof AND … Factory Air Conditioning (not hooked up) – with the factory 5 speed! With a tight suspension and the even rarer factory 5 speed with a dog-leg 1st gear and 2 through 5 in the “H” pattern; in this configuration it’s a blast to drive the twisties or just as easy to tool around town. It's got a beefed up carb on a beefed up block turning 175 HP, going through a VERY RARE, dog-leg first gear in a five speed box and a grippy clutch. I bought the car a year and a half ago and have loved every day with it. It’s not a perfect car, but it is a perfect driver. My intent was to use it for a while, then put it into a better restoration this winter than the previous owner started. However, my left knee has gotten worse and I am no longer able to use the clutch without substantial pain. I really do not want to sell this sled, nor do I want to sell my old Porsche, but the pain and discomfort have reached a level where I can no longer feather a clutch for starting on steep inclines at lights or stop signs and each shift comes with two stabbing pains on each gear shift. I tracked down the original, (numbers matching) engine and all the available parts that came with it, all parts stored in sealed plastic storage bins. There are a few other goodies that go with it, including a set of 15 inch rims and tires. It’s not a perfect car – but it starts every day, drives extraordinarily well and gets honks, waves and thumbs up from nearly every auto enthusiast. It could use a replacement/or re-upholster the driver’s seat (they are mismatched Recaro’s) and the interior is a little tired. (I’ll share all the contacts for acquiring a new interior at the right price.) If you’re looking for a good condition 2002tii to either run around in, or restore, this is thee car to have, especially with the original, numbers matching, engine and tranny! You won’t find too many tii’s with Sunroof AND factory A/C AND the German 5 speed. Very good condition. I purchased this single cab 5 years ago from a seller in Southern California. This was his personal project that he realized he couldn't finish. He had a body shop replace any rusted metal and it was just out of the paint shop when I got it. I had to chase down all sorts of parts, I replaced the wiring harness, and I customized it for my lumber yard / hardware store. It was used as an attention getter / advertising and marketing tool. The plan was to use it for deliveries of Weber grills and small orders, but the drivers were too afraid they would scratch it so they would not drive it. It has been a lot of fun, and I enjoyed getting all the parts together, installing them and getting them all to work properly. It has been a dependable driver, but I've only put about 1,500 miles on it since I finally got it put together 4 years ago. True mileage unknown. It sits low (which I believe is due to dropped spindles) and I was told it has a 1970's trans axle so it can go 65 on the highway without needing any tailwind! These single cabs are just plain badass cool... The Chassis ID plate in the engine compartment says it is #396722. According to http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/chassisdating.php this was assembled in October 1958. The VIN stamped behind the passenger seat in the cab is #366357 which is June 1958. Are they supposed to be the same number, or was the June 1958 cab finally assembled in October 1958? I never found out. The engine is stamped AE 907 246 which is a 1971 1600CC 60HP transplant. Original engine long gone. I have been told that the trans axle is also 1971 vintage, but I not verified this. Front Logo (Craftwood Lumber & Hardware) will be removed - it is not included in the sale. I do not have a replacement VW logo / emblem. They are readily available for $75.00 or so. I will gladly take the vinyl letters off if you want - they come off easily and the paint underneath is the same color as the rest of the truck. (There is no fading of the paint.) I do have a variety of extra parts / pieces / fasteners that I will include with the sale. Inspection prior to bidding is encouraged. Please contact me to arrange time. I will answer all questions promptly and to the best of my ability. This is a 56 year old driver quality car so don't expect perfection. Vehicle is sold as is / where is. I am selling my classic 1951 MG TD. Cream-yellow exterior with black interior, black top. I purchased the car in 2007. This is car number TD/4743/EXLU. It was produced on Dec 18, 1950. It was fully restored back in 1983-8, so the paint shows some age with a few chips and cracks. The convertible top also shows its age. The tan side curtains are in very good shape. Original tools are included, plus a 14 piece set of Whitworth wrenches and sockets (metric or English do not fit this car). Detailed receipts of original restoration included. I did recorded a phone interview with the elderly gentleman who restored the vehicle back in the 80s. Very interesting stuff. Since I bought it I've had the entire engine rebuilt at Imports Unlimited in Highland Park, IL in 2012. The front and rear brakes have been totally rebuilt, also at Imports Unlimited in 2013. Over $25,000 invested. Detailed receipts included. When I bought it the odometer read 9,750 miles. I assume the odometer was replaced when the car was restored back in the 80s.
