In fact it’s probably one of the nicest examples of a modern S550 available in the country today. It is obvious that it was and continues to be garage kept. The car starts right up, and runs and drives perfectly. The transmission shifts as it should. The brakes stop well. And it runs down the road straight and true. It is in unbelievable condition compared to most of the cars of similar year I see come through my shop. We are a wholesaler and make our living buying and selling cars through the dealer auctions. We only retail the best, cleanest units we get to the public, however this car is coming out of my personal collection. It is finished in a beautiful and classy palladium silver paint that still maintains its shine. This is a Florida Car. We had it transported up from Florida in late December. It has never seen bad weather nor been driven in winter conditions. While in my possession it has never even seen rain. These S550s are extremely rare and sought after. They are the flagship of the Mercedes Benz line and are the choice of executives and world leaders. They turn heads wherever they go, and they offer the unbeatable combination of the upmost in luxury combined with phenomenal performance from the 4.7 biturbo v8 engine. This particular example is absolutely loaded. For sale is my 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 Single Cab with metal roof rack. Used it all summer for landscaping work and ran good until transmission issues. Truck starts to slip out of gear once you get past 45 mph. Engine is good and runs but fuel gage and 02 sensor are bad. I have a new O2 sensor for it. Mileage is 252,690. 4.3 Liter. Auto Transmission. Audio system doesn't really work and truck is a little dirty, it went from work horse to sitting. Good inspection. The links below are for YouTube videos that will tell you everything I miss here... I've owned this car since Sept of 2013 and driven it a ton for all sorts of travel. I commuted to NC from NJ at least five or six times in that period, most recently about five weeks ago. I used it as regular local transport all during that time. I've driven it to NY and SC and PA and MA and other places I don't remember. I've put two new tires on eight months ago (now on the rear) the fronts are about 65% good remaining. I've replaced the alternator, valve cover gasket, ignition wires and tuned it in the last 12 months. The end of the wiring harness attaching to the alternator has been redone. The car has done more sitting than driving over the last seven months (hence why the tires on the rear still look close to new) but I've kept it up and it runs well up to 90 mph. (You are NOT allowed to ask how I know that...) Look at the pictures and the video links for complete knowledge on condition and considerations. Looks good, drives great for the age, VERY easy to maintain and that's why I own these often. (this would be my fourth) If you're looking for a Volvo 240 to restore or just kick until it gives up the ghost, there's plenty to consider in this one. I've been servicing and rebuilding diesel Mercedes of the early '80's, VW's from the 70's and Volvo's from the '90's for three decades now and I use those three platforms because they a) last forever b) are exceptional cars to restore or just drive cheaply and c) they can be deeply enjoyed at almost any level of 'running well' The mileage on this one is completely unknown to me because the odometer wasn't working when I bought it! That didn't bother me because this became one of a stable of seven cars we own for college kids and myself to 'tool around the USA' in. I can tell you that I wouldn't hesitate to drive this thing across the USA today, it runs that well. There is NO unusual oil loss or smoke from the tailpipe. (1/2qt of oil low every TEN tankfuls...MAYBE??? Really sound oil consumer.) There's AC but I've never used it. Expect a new condenser is needed but I didn't care to do. It does come on but the belts squeal too much for me to use without actually paying maintenance attention to. If I can't fix something completely I usually don't use that feature until I can. MANUAL sunroof (which I love more than anything else on this car!) but the crank needs a little 'playing with it' to work perfectly...it ALWAYS works in both directions, just needs fiddling with the crank (OR you can replace the crank mechanism...again, it didn't bother me this way.) During a 'tightening' of the speaker mount in the passenger door, the switch wiring for the front passenger window must have been jostled because it isn't working by any switch at the moment. That motor is fine, it DID work before the speaker was remounted it's just going to take removal of the door liner to find where the connection is grounding/undone. All other motors, windows that I can think of here work to my recollection. There are heated seats but a kid left those ON one day last winter and it drained the battery to zero on a sub-20 degree day. I removed the fuse for that circuit once, replaced it to find that they were left on once in the summer and have since removed it on a permanent basis. Those should come right back when the fuse is replaced but...and this probably should go as a 'caveat emptor' statement for the entire car...you are buying a Volvo that is 25 years old. If you know these cars, you know the quality of this example just from the photos and videos. If you are expecting new or "nothing needed to make it as good as new" please do us both a favor and skip this auction altogether. This car was listed a few months ago and the high bidder 'disappeared' so I just kept it and made it run even better for a few more months. See the pictures, see the video. Ask questions if there's more you need to know. I will take PAYPAL if you need to make the "holding deposit" (50% of total cost) in the first 48 hours without picking up in person. I bought it with 51,951 miles during 2011. Currently has approximately 100,100 miles. This is young for a Civic and the car Still runs great! Silver exterior paint, gray cloth interior. fold down back seat. Comes standard with 4 wheel ABS. Dual front and side air bags. Front disc brakes, rear drums. Steel wheels with Hub caps. Power windows, power door locks, and power mirrors. Has working cruise control. Air conditioning and heat work well, no issues. Rear window defroster works well, no issues. Tilt steering wheel. Standard Rear Spoiler. After market stereo installed with CD, Aux., AM/FM, USB adapter, and remote. Stereo face is detachable. Also comes with a fully functional Thule roof rack, including large 59" bars, two bike trays, and stand up kayak/canoe racks. The Thule rack is 12 years old, however, and it does show its age with some rust and corrosion of parts. MAINTENANCE: Had transmission bearings replaced last year (have record). New battery this year. Radiator flush and fill earlier 2015 (have record). Tires approximately 1.5 to 2 years old, with regular tire rotations. Transmission fluid flushed and replaced during 2011. Regular oil changes. Has timing chain so not necessary to change it as part of regular maintenance, like a timing belt. No issues with timing chain. Alignment is straight. Comes with donut spare tire and jack kit. Have original owners manual, etc. Have some records but not all. Note, that much of the maintenance, such as oil changes, replacing brakes, tire rotations, etc. were completed by me, which is why I don't have the records. Overall, the car is in quite good condition. Runs well and is mechanically sound. Transmission feels solid -- tranny and clutch work smoothly. Maintained well but not garage kept. There are some minor cosmetic flaws, as would be expected of a 9+ year old car. Notably, the paint is flaking on the front bumper, predominantly on the right side. The hub caps are showing wear, including worn/flaking paint. The rear bumper has some scratches. And there are three scratches on the upper right side of the dash board. We have personally driven it over 300 miles and it hasn’t skipped a beat. It’s loaded with great features. This is a 2002 model, which is very important when it comes to 4.0 Jaguar Engines. Earlier 4.0 motors featured plastic timing chain guides that are known to break and snap as the cars age. If a chain guide snaps and the engine jumps time, it will destroy the engine as valves and pistons will make contact. Jaguar released an updated metal timing chain guide but it did not become standard until the 2002 model year. Earlier model year 4.0 engines NEED to have this retrofitted (at a cost of about 1800 dollars for the work). Otherwise the engine is a time bomb and could catastrophically fail on you with pretty much NO advance notice of a problem. Please do not buy a 2001 or earlier model year Jaguar with the 4.0 engine unless you have confirmed that the timing chain guides have been replaced. This car has a super low for the year 68k highway miles. It is finished in a beautiful and elegant silver with the classic black leather interior with grey piping on the seats. This car is in extremely good mechanical condition. It starts right up as soon as you turn the key. Everything works and there are no check engine lights / stories / mechanical problems or fluid leaks. Alignment is good and it tracks straight and true, and has no vibrations or issues up to 90mph. It rides very smoothly. The car rides on a matched set of Pirelli all season tires that have near new tread. The windows have been slightly tinted to protect the interior adding to overall presence of this Jaguar. Now every used car has some cosmetic flaws however minimal. This particular jaguar has a very slight ding / scratch on the front passenger side fender on the side almost parallel to the headlight. It’s BARELY noticeable but its there. The rear bumper has a few scratches, but other than that the body is exceptional. There are no rips or tears in the leather, no burn holes or any other evidence of smoking in the car. The factory owner’s manuals are in place in the trunk. If you are a PA resident the car has valid PA inspection and emission stickers until Aug 2016. In fact it’s probably one of the nicest examples of an older SL500 available in the country today. It is obvious that it was and continues to be garage kept. The car starts right up, and runs and drives perfectly. The transmission shifts as it should. The brakes stop well. And it runs down the road straight and true. It is in unbelievable condition compared to most of the cars of similar year I see come through my shop. We are a wholesaler and make our living buying and selling cars through the dealer auctions. We only retail the best, cleanest units we get to the public, however this car is coming out of my personal collection. It is finished in a beautiful and classy silver paint that still maintains its shine. The beautiful grey leather interior looks to be well kept tidy and clean the ONLY sign of wear is a tiny bit of wear in the leather on the driver’s outer seat bolster. This particular SL 500 has only traveled 58k miles in its pampered life. That’s right only 5200 miles a year. It has never seen bad weather nor been driven in winter conditions. While in my possession it has never even seen rain. If the forecast called for the possibility of rain it sat at home in the garage while I drove one of my other vehicles. These SL 500’s are extremely rare and sought after. They are probably one of the best grand touring roadsters ever produced. They turn heads wherever they go, and they offer the practicality of a retractable hard top as opposed to a fabric convertible top. This particular example is absolutely loaded. Bixenon Headlamps, Power windows, locks, mirrors, power seats, heated seats, anti lock brakes, cruise control, and dual climate control with Ice cold air. The car rides on an almost new set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires ($250+ each) mounted to a beautiful set of brand new (less than 1000 miles) Lorinser SLR style wheels ($1700) These wheels give the car a sleek and more modern appearance similar to its SLR big brother. This vehicle rides smooth and tracks straight at 80 mph +. I have the original wheels as well, however the paint had started to fade on them and they detracted a bit from the otherwise brand new appearance of this roadster. The new buyer is welcome to the wheels if they prefer to return the car to stock, although they should really be refinished. There are no check engine lights, strange noises or issues. The engine is quiet, smooth and powerful. The transmission shifts as it should, and the car feels very planted and sure footed on the road. The retractable hardtop works as designed and operates smoothly and quietly with no strange noises. The factory windscreen is also in place. With the windscreen and windows up this car was quieter than my bmw 3 series convertible with the top up. It can transform from providing a serene open air experience to classic wind in your hair open top motoring with just a few adjustments. The adjustable sports suspension has the ability to transform the car from a smooth and comfortable grand tourer into a near road race car with the push of a button. The in cabin entertainment system was completely revamped in 2014. The navigation system was dated and CD based. No new map updates were available, and its was cumbersome to use and often inaccurate. I decided to remove the entire system and start again to upgrade the in car entertainment and multimedia to what one would expect in a six figure car in 2015. The old command head unit was swapped for a double din Eclipse 7” Widescreen unit with touch screen controls. This offers CD, MP3, DVD video, as well as USB and ipod control. It also allows you to pair your mobile phone and have hands free Bluetooth conversations OR stream Bluetooth audio. This deck alone was over $1200. After that all of the speakers were upgraded to a combination of JL Audio and Focal. Including the factory subwoofer. The entire system is powered by an 850 watt JL Audio amplifier mounted in the trunk. The system sound phenomenal top up or top down and offers amenities that rival or exceed what Mercedes Benz currently offers in their 2015 SL’s. Finally the front Grille was replaced with the one from the 2009-14 SL500’s. I have the original Grille as well if the owner prefers. The carpets have been protected since day one and I have both the original carpet mats, as well as the OEM Mercedes all weather mats pictured in the car. Both sets come with the vehicle. Both keys are included and all of the original owners manuals are in place. I am the third owner. The first owner leased the car for 3 years and it traveled 20,662 miles in his hands until the end of the lease. They consistently win car of the year and best sports sedan awards. They have an awesome open top driving experience, yet the driving characteristics of a sports car. This particular example is absolutely loaded. The owner ordered the sports package with the upgraded suspension and 17” wheels and the more aggressive front fascia and the sports seats with adjustable bolsters and thigh support, the premium package, which adds HID headlights and front parking sensors, and the cold weather package, which adds heated seats and mirrors. The full list of features includes, Power convertible top, Power windows, locks, mirrors, power seats, heated seats anti lock brakes, cruise control, front parking sensors, Harman Kardon stereo with optional aux input, and climate control with Ice cold air. The power top is in great shape and it goes up and down as it should. Another great feature of these BMW convertibles is that they have a glass rear window, which includes a rear defroster they do not suffer from the aging that convertibles with a plastic rear window inevitably experience. We ran the car through our shop, which does a thorough 100+ point mechanical and safety inspection. We do this with all the cars that we retail. The shop gave the car a clean bill of health, and we had them do the following repair / maintenance stuff before listing the car for sale: When we got the car the tires were marginal so we had a set of brand new tires installed for the next owner! I have personally driven this vehicle and it rides smooth and tracks straight at 80 mph +. The car had an intermittent check engine light for the secondary air injection system. We replaced the secondary air injection valve and vacuum line to address this. This is a very common BMW 3 series issue but we have already taken care of it for you. The air conditioning was not blowing as cold as it should so we had the system evacuated and charged and now it can freeze you out of the car. You may notice in the pictures that the center armrest is missing. Like all BMW 3 series cars the leather tends to wear prematurely on the armrest, so we sent it out to our upholstery shop to have it recovered in the matching leather, significantly detracting from the otherwise wonderful appearance of the interior. It will be back in the next day or two and be reinstalled in the car. There are no check engine lights, strange noises or fluid leaks. The engine is quiet, smooth and powerful. The transmission shifts as it should, and the car feels very planted and sure footed on the road. This particular car will make a great family car, commuter car, summer cruiser, or a safe and reliable first car for your new driver. Now every used car has its flaws – otherwise it wouldn’t be used! Here is what our inspection has revealed: The lower sideskirt on the driver’s side is starting to come a bit loose on the edge behind the front wheel. It may need a clip or to be reglued to the body. It’s barely noticeable but going over the car with a fine-toothed comb like we do it’s there. The driver’s seat is starting to show the typical BMW wear on the left bolster due to getting in and out of the car. Due to the low mileage of this particular example the wear is minimal. It’s not torn up like most 3 series cars with sports seats are. The rear driver’s side seat bottom has a small stain / possible burn a bit smaller than the size of a dime. The wheels have some scratches / curb marks. They are still straight and not bent like many BMW wheels, and our tire shop had no issue road force balancing the new tires. I have tried to photograph all the flaws as best I can so there are no surprises. Overall it’s a VERY nice car especially for the year. I would rate it an 8.5 /10 overall and I’m VERY picky with cars.
