This is beautiful classy elegant automobile. The Bentley Turbo R was a high-performance model produced by Bentley Motors Limited. The "R" stood for "roadholding", to set it apart from its predecessor. It initially inherited the turbocharged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a retuned suspension and wider tires on alloy wheels, a first for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year (20,000 series chassis numbers), however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was retuned with fuel injection for added torque. Motor Trend called the Turbo R "the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name" in their review of the car on its introduction to the United States in 1989. This car has been well maintained for its 25 years. It runs great ! It still has its original classy appearance. It's black on black with red trim exterior and interior. Well taken care of 1989 Bentley Turbo R (Red Label). Bought from a vintage/collecting car dealership in Southern California in October 2009. Mileage when bought was 155718. Drove from Southern California to Northern California with no problem; it was one smooth ride. Recently replaced radiator, break modulator and brake caliber (front). Run great. Sunday car, drive around +/- 20 miles per week, generated some good conversations. People asked me to take picture with the car when I took the car to Safeway Super Market. Replaced weather beaten upholstery by the windshield. Freeway cracked windshield was replaced with a new windshield. Custom made dashboard cover. Current mileage: 162345. Clear Title (Check Carfax). 1990 Bentley Turbo R Introduced at Geneva in 1985, the Turbo R continued the modern 'Blower Bentley' theme, but with the added refinement of suspension better suited to the car's increased performance. Outwardly the R differed from the preceding Mulsanne Turbo by virtue of its cast-alloy wheels shod with low-profile Pirelli tires, while inside there was a revised fascia with rev-counter included amongst the comprehensive instrumentation. In a break with Rolls-Royce tradition, power figures were made public, revealing that the engine produced a 320bhp and a staggering 475lb/ft of torque. Few cars were - or are - better suited to fast long-distance touring. Finished in Black with black leather interior, piped red, this highly optioned, 2-owner California native presents beautifully and is a delight to drive. Both owners drove the car as a weekend or dinner car, using it sparingly with a Carfax certified 63,000 miles from new, but maintained and stored it meticulously, as can be seen in the condition. Paint is excellent throughout with no scratches or dings; there is no evidence of accident damage or repair, as seen in the Carfax report. The brightwork is excellent, wheels are scuff-free and shod with good tires with plenty of tread left. The interior is also in excellent condition with next to no wear to the seat and carpet surfaces. All electrical systems work perfectly, including cold AC. The car is accompanied with all books, service records, and a clean, clear title. This is truly one of the best Turbo Rs I have ever driven. It needs nothing and is ready to drive anyhere and enjoy in true British sporting style.
