The twin fine lines to the waist-rails are hand-painted in matching tan. This Bentley is very well known to us having been fully maintained by us by an owner who would request everything and anything be done without sparing expense. Every service is completley up to date. The car has travelled only 56,000 miles. We make no apology for this Turbo R being higher priced than many, but we can assure you this will be amongst the finer example Turbo Rs you will find. She needs nothing. The economy in price will be proven by low maintenance in ownership. The Bentley Turbo R is powered by a 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce designed V8 engine with the Bosch fuel injecton system and Garret Turbo-charger. Exuding in excess of 300 horsepower it pumped out over 500 foot pounds of torque. So she is quite spritely indeed and, quoting Modern Car's review upon its release; "such is the power of this 2.5 ton behemoth, when you power down streets in Sussex, she blows leaves off trees in Kent!". It has the look and a true behemoth it is! With the black and completely colour-coded bumpers, this is indeed a handsome beast. This Bentley is what is known as the "20,000 series" car, which is a desirable model having had incorporated many engineering and design upgrades. Most notably, the introduction of Bosch electrics, eliminating the troublesome Lucas issues. Having been meticulously maintained by Park-Ward, this Bentley Turbo needs absoltely nothing. Some $20,000 was spent at its last major services to include mechnaical, electrical and some cosmetic items. Nothing was over-looked, ignored or deferred. A copy of the last services is available upon request. I reiterate, mechanically and operationally, this car needs nothing - guaranteed. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. The car sports factory specification original Turbo R alloy wheels. The body of the car is straight and the paint deep in lustre and consistency. It does have a few minor little chips and marks here and there but these are few and only show if one looks hard. Otherwise it is very shiny without any fading, dents or dings. Rubbers, mouldings, badges and external fittings are all in excellent condition. The interior of this car is stunning. The Connolly leather shows beautifully and is completely original. It has never been re-dyed or messed with and yet remains very soft and supple without any signs of typical wear. The wood throughout is excellent and can comfortably be described as near perfect showing almost no lacquer cracks, chips or marks. Carpets, seats, dash, front top-roll, rear parcel shelf and fixtures are truly excellent and I best encourage you to look at all the photos to fully appreciate how nicely the interior presents. The car also had an up-market current technology Blaupunkt stereo CD system recently fitted by Park-Ward. As part of Park-Ward's maintenance program, all electricals and features & functions have been inspected so everything is operating as it should; windows, seats, mirrors, A/C, heater, lights, wipers, etc. Right down to every light bulb in the dash. This is a true, "take the keys and drive" example with no additional budget needed to attend to any nuances or gremlins. Being a well-maintained example. It is tight to drive, brakes strong and rides as a Bentley should. As an example of the meticulous attention to her maintenance, new tyres were recently fitted on rims that were sand-blasted and powder-coated to factory finish. When describing a car for sale, one should be very careful to use terms like "perfect" and "flawless" because nothing but a brand new car can be described this way. That said, this Bentley is very close to, is of a very high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating. Built under the ownership of Rolls-Royce, the Turbo R is one of the few modern Bentleys to emulate the sporting heritage that W.O. Bentley built his company on. Historically, Bentley has a well-established motorsport heritage, with five wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1924 to 1930. Despite the racing heritage, modern Bentleys are known for their luxury and build quality, not for being a gentleman’s racecar. In 1985 Bentley wanted to change the public perception of the brand; enter the Turbo R. Motor Trend concluded that this is “the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name” after their initial review. With "R" standing for Roadholding , it definitely lives up to its name and handles amazing well for a car of its size and weight. This car was $200,000 new and the big gorgeous chrome Bentley wheels you see in the pictures were a $10,000 option. The color combo of black/black with red pinstripe and chrome wheels makes for a very dramatic look. This car has serious presence. I bought this car on a whim from a gentleman in Texas. I remember seeing the first Turbo R as a teenager at the Autoshow and couldnt resist finally owning one. I've enjoyed owning the car and now its time to free up some cash and space for my next toy. The original owner stored this car in his hanger next to his private jet. The jet's engines needed a major overhauling and the price tag with parts and labor came close to the value of the Bentley. A deal was struck, the jet engines got overhauled, and the jet engine mechanic/parts dealer drove home in a beautiful, almost new, Bentley. The Bentley stayed in his family most of its life but was later driven/owned by other close family members. The owner before me owned it for about a year and I have owned it 1.5 years.Overall, the paint looks good and shows well. All I did was put it through a regular car wash before taking the pictures. It does have a number of scratches and one minor area of bubbling (above the rear wheel well) in the paint. A lot of the paint issues can be fixed with touch-up paint or one of those scratch filler products. There is some oxidation on the hood that didnt show up well in the pictures. In general, I'm sure a detailing/buffing would do wonders for this car. The interior is in excellent condition. I had the car wash wipe down the seats with some spray and vacuum the carpeting, the interior was not detailed. It has beautiful, rich black Connolly leather and a burled walnut dash. The executive-type bucket seats are big, wide, and comfortable yet hold you firmly in place when throwing the car into a turn. They are heated 10-way power seats with lumbar support and memory. It comes equipped with a driver-side airbag and ABS brakes. When I got the car, it was running a little rough. The previous owner told me he thought it just needed a tune-up. The tune-up didn't help and it started running even rougher. I ended up having three different mechanics. . .a Bentley specialist and two European car specialists. . .go through the car completely. All the big and little items were repaired with new and/or rebuilt parts. All the parts were ordered directly from a top Bentley parts supplier in England. $3,000 later, the car is running absolutely beautifully. The Transmission shifts perfectly as well. Here's what I know to still be wrong with the car. These are issues that I didn't fix either because I didn't care enough to or because they arose after I had already decided to sell the car: • The climate control system was working perfectly..hot heat and ice cold air. . .and then one day, about a week ago, it just stopped working. I had the mechanic test the blower and its working fine. The issue is in the climate system control panel that sits in the center console and houses the switches and dials. It might just be a loose wire or the whole unit might need to be replaced. I have found new/reconditioned ones online for $300 so that would be the worst case scenario. • The passenger-side seat power controls do not work. This might be a wire or fuse issue but I'm really not sure. • When I bought the car, the odometer/speedometer wasn't working. The previous owner told me to assume an additional 5,000 miles since it stopped working. I've put another 2,500 miles on it since I've owned it. I ordered the cable that goes from the transmission to the speedometer from the same parts supplier in England. I had it installed but it's still not working. I think it just might not have been installed correctly. However, if it's the part, the company in England has agreed to replace it free of charge. I'm happy to facilitate that free replacement for the buyer. • The driver-side rear window does not work. • There is a bad buzzing sound coming from the passenger-side rear speaker when you play the radio. It's probably just a simple grounding issue as there is no buzzing when you play a CD and it sounds great. • The ABS light is on. It was missing a sensor by one of the wheels.
