135k milesTiming belt done at 113kAll new (4) disc brakes rotors and padsYokohama Tires - 60%Nice interior, non-smokingclean title - clean carfaxCurrent registrationHaving a tough time with my 2001 Volvo v40 and I don't have the time, patience, or know-how to fix it.I took it into Ackerman's in Berkeley and here is their diagnosis (also feel free to call them to discuss):-The wiring harness that runs across the coils towards the cam is fried and melted-All of the fault codes on the car have lit up since this electrical issue started including headlights (even though they are functioning fine). Codes: general engine misfire, driver's airbag (1), cam sensor, headlight.-Car has a leak in the rear cam seal-The car is running rough because the electrical issue is telling the cams to adjust when they shouldn't, this is leading to misfiring.My next step would be to go to pick and pull and grab a new wiring harness to replace everything that is fried. After that it would be finding someone to do the cam seal for a reasonable price (which I think will be hard). This repair requires some special tools that I don't have and don't want to mess with. All of this is over my head.The only silver lining on this (I think) is that the cam seal has probably been an issue for some time during the 5,000 miles that I've owned the car and it has run fine. So in theory just replacing some plug and play wiring harnesses could deliver a perfectly fine running vehicle with a little oil leak that needs to be dealt with eventually.I give up.
