The "Squareback" as it is commonly referred to received an engine overhaul at around 60K miles according the former owner, at which time he installed dual Weber carburetors in place of the factory fuel injection. The engine starts, runs an drives nicely, can be a bit cranky when cold due to the dual Weber carburators, however runs nicely after a few minutes, and its four speed fully synchromesh transmission shifts nicely with no issues. Handling is uncharacteristically superb with no over or understeer issues. Currently the odometer is intermittent, however the car was not operated over the last nine years, while being restored. The speedometer does functions normally, as do the other gauges. Not shown, the rear seat indeed does fold down flat to accommodate larger loads, a very convenient option. Great place for your dog.....or?? Its body is pretty much rust free with a previous small floor repair below the battery, (typical) and directly under the front seat, very nicely done. A small bubble is noticeable to the lower left fender at the intersection of the left door, approximately the size of a quarter. The paint overall is in very nice condition as the pictures illustrate. Upholstery, carpet and headliner, as previously mentioned are in excellent condition. Recent servicing included new NGK plugs, oil replacement (synthetic 10/40 Castrol), fuel filter, front wheel bearing replacements, coolant flush (just kidding), air filter cleaning (the Weber's use foam), new German brake rotors, wheel bearings, and pads, caliper overhaul, brake fluid flush, synthetic gear oil replacement, recent 4 new tires, and a complete detailing with Zymol Carnauba wax. Rare in their numbers, they are great cars to own, and many owners are now modifying them with lowered suspension, whitewalls, etc, giving them that "Retro" appearance.
