The split rear window beetles are rare and highly sought after, they have been for quite some time now. In recent years the values have been rising pretty fast and steady. Rarely do you see them become available for sale. The restoration of this Zwitter was performed some years ago, but as you see it looks beautiful. It was recently mechanically refreshed. The paint applied is Glasurit Azure Blue and shows incredibly well. There are no signs of rust anywhere. The vehicle does not show any signs of accidents. It drives flawlessly and correct as it should. All the lights, blinkers and electrical system function correctly. The chrome is in excellent condition for its age. The trims, handles, and most of the chrome on this beetle seem to be original to the car except for the bumpers which have been replaced. The bumpers we found the car with also go with the sale, which may be the originals? but presented some flaws and manual repair taking away from its beauty. The panel fitment on this Zwitter is very good, all the weather stripping on the car looks like new as we understand the car was always garaged. The gas tank is the original one with the small cap and indentation right on the tank. The interior is superb and shows as new, demonstrating a high level of quality workmanship. The clock on the glove box is quite rare to see. The steering wheel is unique and a nice touch, not sure if it is genuine as I am told one has to take it apart to find out. It also comes with a very nice Bekowa roof rack. Included with the sale there is also goes a correct but not matching numbers 1100cc motor. The 1300cc it presently has runs perfect. This beetle was owned by an avid collector that actually possessed two split windows when he parted. Both were imported by him many years ago from Europe. This is a Kilometers car and was his pride and joy. It is one of the last Zwitters ever produced from what we have researched via Vin records available. The oval windows came right after the production number of this great example. His wife says he had some friends with the same fever for these vehicles but never really went to any VW events or gatherings. It was just an individual passion. Therefore this is one that has been flying completely under the vintage VW worlds radar, until today. The vehicle comes with a clean Florida title and ready for its new home.
