1970 TOYOTA FJ 40 LAND CRUISER Toyota Land Cruiser prices have been appreciating quickly over the last few years. So much so that full restoration examples are bringing $30,000-$40,000. Don't think this FJ isn't worth the investment because it is and is probably one of the more solid examples available for sale. Just add a coat of paint and you'd be right in that realm. We were able to procure this example from California and are able to offer it at an extremely reasonable price. This 1970 FJ is extremely solid and honest example of an FJ with a little added horses under the hood. This FJ 40 is a California barn find Hot Rod powered by a Ford FE 390 motor adapted to the FJ original 3 speed manual transmission. It is some what of a sleeper due to its exterior stock appearance. The FJ runs and drives very well and does not over heat even in 100 degree weather or in bumper to bumper traffic. It is completely roadworthy as she sits right now down to the brand new BFG's on her. We have had her out all around town and not only is she a head turner she is a blast to drive. She is ready to conquer any terrain and has plenty of torque to master any trail or hill in her way. This would make a great trail or huning vehicle just the way it sits. I can not stress enough how reliable and drivable this FJ 40 is. Although not a freshly restored FJ, she does have quite a few fresher items and what really makes her stand out from the crowd are her nice body panels. This FJ 40 has a straight body and very nice hard top, rust free doors, and solid floors. I am impressed with the overall condition of this FJ and how well the doors and rear barn doors operate and fit. You will notice on the passenger door where the paint chipped off it looks like rust but its only surface and the door is solid just like the driver's side. The padded dash does have some cracks in it but overall the interior is really a gem. Take a look at the photographs and let us know if you have any questions. 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ 40 Diesel. Off white / Black. A very late European car delivered new in Portugal. Portuguese cars are very very unique. They have some of the improvements of the later cars, and some of the classic looks, vent windows, of the earlier cars. This particular car was working as a managers car at a quarry outside Lisbon, and then as a support vehicle for one of the biggest construction companies in Portugal. The paint is original, the interior, what is left, is original too. It is a four speed with drum brakes, heater, free wheeling hubs, and a roll cage.The split rims still have the original paint, and the 6x16 off road tires are in good shape. The engine starts inmediately, and runs and drives well. The frame is in excellent condition, Lisbon is the European capital with the mildest weather in the European continent with very little rain and no snow, but the body has some rust holes. This holes, see photos, are mainly located at the bottom of the windshield, and at the bottom of the doors. Reproduction windshields are readily available. This car has had some rust repairs in the front right floor, see photo of the bottom of the car, and in the rear cargo area. This repairs seem more to prevent the car from rusting, than rust repairs. Looks worse than actually is, lots of surface rust in the hood. Has lots of patina, comes with an extra hood, and is a good oportunity to acquire a unique European version.
