This car was owned since 1972 and parked in an old garage for many years. The guy I bought it from said he drove it a little more than 15 years ago. I put in a new fuel pump, flushed out the tank and rebuilt the carburator but it only runs when pouring gas down the carb. The brakes need to be addressed, there is another master cylinder [not sure it's good] and new wheel cylinders for all 4 wheels. When he painted the car long ago, he patched the front floor boards and used filler to patch the rocker panels. Trunk is solid and has the spare tire. Also, the air cleaner is not in the engine picture but I have it.The outside sheet metal is mostly solid except some blistering behind the rear wheel wells. The drivers cozy wing is cracked but the other glass looks good. The seats were covered and it looks like the orginal gold but worn out factory seat covers are intact. It has a clean Ohio title. The bumpers and bright work are in decent shape for being 58 years old. The tires are about 15 years old but hold air for rolling the car around. The engine is the 289cn. supercharged V8 that was very quick in 1957. This car is mostly complete, no hard parts to find and would be an easy restoration for the Studebaker enthusiast out there. There were only 4356 golden hawks made in 1957 and this is # 429. They just don't make them like this anymore and "you can work on it too"!

This Golden Hawk has been owned and garaged since the 1970's. The car has it's original power train with the McCulloch supercharger. [The bad] The front drivers and passengers floor pan had been poorly patched some time ago. The rocker panels have been patched as well with filler. There is some blistering in both rear quarter panels, before the wheel wells. [The good] The fenders, doors, trunk lid, trunk pan, hood are all solid. Everything is there for a easy restore. No major dings or dents. Looks to be all original sheet metal. The stainless trim looks good and the chrome is driver quality. The seats had been covered in the past but the gold original trim is still beneath for the new owner to match and replace. The engine was running 10 years ago and after a carburetor rebuild, oil change, plug wires and battery it runs once again from a gas can. The gas tank will have to be drained and cleaned. No brakes at present but have an extra master cylinder and wheel cylinders for all four wheels. The car is not drive-able now but could be easily put back on the road. I do have the air cleaner and small gold trim missing on rear quarter that's not pictured.
