The beautiful Light Gold metallic paint and contrasting white top is in great condition with no major imperfections to be found. Inside, the tan cloth and vinyl seats all look presentably original with normal wear visible including the door panels and dashboard that are matched to the exterior of the car and look fantastic. It also should be noted that this car came with a roll of NOS carpet (which is impossible to find), and has been installed to the high standards of the original. The Studebaker Golden Hawk is a two-door pillar less hardtop coupe type car produced by the Studebaker Corporation of South Bend between 1956 and 1958. The raised hood and grille were added to allow space for a 289 cid (4.7 L) V8 with the addition of a McCulloch Supercharger giving the car 275 hp. This improved the car’s top speed, making these the best-performing of the Hawks. This powerful engine in such a light car gave the Golden Hawk a phenomenal power to weight ratio (and performance) for the time. Of 1956 American production cars SPEED AGE magazine tested the Golden Hawk against the Chrysler 300 B, Ford Thunderbird, and Chevrolet Corvette finding that the Golden Hawk could out-perform the others comfortably in both 0-60 mph acceleration and quarter mile times. These well build cars also featured smooth automatic transmissions and “Twin Traction”, (Studebakers version of Posi-traction) rear differentials! From the factory, a fiberglass overlay on the hood was added, which covered a hole in the hood that was needed to clear the supercharger that is mounted high on the front of the engine. The tailfins, now made of metal, were concave and swept out from the sides of the car. The fins were outlined in chrome trim and normally were painted a contrasting color, white on this example. For 1958, the Golden Hawk switched to 14-inch wheels instead of 15-inch wheels, making the car ride a little lower. Other styling changes included a new round Hawk medallion mounted in the lower center of the grille, and the available contrasting-color paint was now applied to both the roof and tailfins. One unique feature was a vacuum gauge on the instrument panel. Padded dash boards were standard. Several minor engineering changes were made for ’58, including revisions to the suspension and driveshaft that finally allowed designers to create a three-passenger rear seat. Earlier models had seating for only two passengers in the rear because the high driveshaft “hump” which necessitated dividing the seat; a fixed arm rest (later made removable because of customer requests) was placed between the rear passengers in earlier models. This is your chance to own 1 of only 800 1958 Golden Hawks produced with far fewer existing today, your neighbors will envy you as well as everyone that lays their eyes on this masterpiece. This is a fine example of the “First American family-size sports car”, ideal for any car lover or a rare addition for any collection.. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!… Current mileage on the odometer shows 60,352 it is sold as is and is mileage exempt. The car is being sold on a clean & clear title. Built and engineered by a life long Studebaker enthusiast, this killer custom is ready to win shows, or to be a stand out on cruise nights.  The body of this awesome car is finished in two stage base/clear PPG paint. The hood, trunk, and doors have all been shaved and filled and the car now sports a modified grill that adds to the custom look. The only chrome left on the car is the  wheels, creating an incredibly sleek look.  The interior of the Starlight coupe is equipped with the dash out of a Silver Hawk that has been outfitted with modern Digital Dakota gauges. The car features very comfortable 6 way power seats and a console that have been sourced from a 1990 Thunderbird. The center console houses a custom stereo head unit and the Billet Specialties Steering wheel is mounted on a Ididit column. The Studebaker is equipped with 3-point seatbelts for the driver and lap belts for the rear passengers.  The frame for the Starlight Coupe is a modified 1962 Hawk frame with custom fabricated front clip. The front suspension is a Mustang II style clip done by Heidts, and the rear end is leaf sprung. The car has an Air Ride Technologies system underneath, Pro Shocks and Chassis engineering sway bars, and sits on 18" Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dog Chrome wheels. The tires are 215/40-18's on the front and 235/50-18's on the rear.  Powering this amazing custom down the road is a 1962 Corvette 327 Corvette engine that was bored .30 over. It runs an 201/256 Iskedarian cam with springs and rockers by Comp Cams. The heads are Chevy 350 iron heads with GM Performance rods and pistons. To keep things in line with killer looking engine compartment, Billet Specialties valve covers were installed to match the looks of the custom fabricated fuel injection manifold. The headers are iron ram horns and have been smoothed out and coated. The engine is mounted to a TCI 700R4 transmission with a 2100 RPM stall converter and the rear end is a 9" Currie 3.25:1 unit.  If you are looking to win some shows and do it with something nobody else is going to have, this Studebaker is as over the top as it is unique.  VIN: G926459 Year: 1953 Make: Studebaker Model: Starlight Coupe Engine: 327.00 CI V8 Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic Color: Black over Gray Odometer Reading: 1000 Financing and warranty options are available.  Please call us directly to acquire shipping bids, to answer any questions about this automobile, or to secure this special car for yourself.
