jerryandhelen Store Description  1927 Studebaker Big Six Vicky  - for sale by private party -   Available for sale is this incredible 1927 Studebaker street rod. The engineering and finish work on this car is simply amazing. The owner/builder has dozens of high-end builds to his credit, and this car shows the quality touches that are achieved through many years of experience.    The project began with a very solid body and chassis.  The stock frame was boxed and powder coated.  A Heidt's Super Ride setup was installed in the front, and Nissan independent rear suspension was installed in the rear.  With four wheel independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and front and rear sway bars, the car handles very nicely. The car sits on 18 and 20 inch Budnik wheels wrapped in Goodyear RSA tires.     A Dodge SRT-10 V10 (8.3 litre/505 CID) engine perfectly fills the engine compartment.  Rated at 500 HP and 525 lb-ft of torque, this beast provides ample power.  Fuel injection assures easy starts and reliability. Exhaust flows through a 3 inch exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers.  Cooling is provided by a custom built copper/brass radiator from Performance Radiator backed by a Cooling Components fan. The transmission is a column-shifted 48RE four-speed overdrive automatic that was original equipment behind the V10 engine.  Ron Francis wiring keeps everything lit up.     Inside, the car is a two-seater, with tastefully upholstered bucket seats.  Creature comforts include power steering, power brakes, Specialty Power 2-speed wipers, Vintage Air A/C and heat, power windows, and Rostra cruise control.  A four-speaker Retro Sound stereo system (with USB)  provides the tunes. Classic Instruments gauges complement the overall design of the car.  The steering wheel incorporates the original center with a custom highly figured maple rim that matches the luggage rack.         The top has been chopped four inches.  All chrome has been replated by American Plating, and all of the glass is new.  Paint work was done by Classy Chassis, one of the premier custom paint shops in the northwest.  All PPG paint products were used.   The car has slightly over 4K miles on a fresh build, with 38K on the engine and transmission.   Selling for a friend who is the owner/builder. You can call Ron directly at 360-943-0792 if you have questions.  Please call between 9 am and 8 pm Pacific time.   Sorry, not interested in trades.  The next project is under construction.   Buyer is responsible for shipping from Olympia, WA 98506.  Vehicle is sold as-is and where-is.  Please have the vehicle inspected prior to making a commitment to purchase.   Vehicle will be held until purchase funds clear.  Payment by cash, certified cashier's check or electronic funds transfer. The American Austin Bantam (pictured) will be listed in a separate auction in the next week.

1921 Studebaker Big Six Seven Passenger Touring. This 1921 Studebaker big six touring is in original un-restored cosmetic condition. The car belonged to Earl Shelton, a Chicago based gangster in the 1920's. It was purchased in 1951 by a collector at his Estate Auction. It was placed up on jackstands and covered until 2008. The story was written up in Old Cars Weekly. It was discovered and purchased from the collector's widow and put back on the road. The Big Six engine has been re-babbited and re-built. It is not detailed and still wears whatever is left of it's original grey paint. The car runs strong. It has been stored for about 1 year now. Since the photos were taken new BF Goodrich 34x5 tires were installed on the rear. Lucas 33x4.5 tires (Old Dunlop Tread) were installed on the 2 spares and on the front. The top material is (aged) The leather upholstery is nice. The paint appears to be original. Running well, very fast car for the time, loads of pick-up, more so than any other car I've owned of this period, it's uncanny. Last driven May 10th 2015. Comes with notebook containing the history of the car and shop manual. 354 in³ (5.8-liter) Straight-6 engine that produces 65 bhp at 2000 rpm. Original sale price $2,150. In the 1920s, twelve of the fourteen Arizona counties issued Studebakers to their sheriffs, because of their reputation for power, reliability, and ability to withstand hard use and bad roads. In 1925, the company published a pamphlet about the Arizona sheriffs' Studebakers, and named their Big Six Sport Phaeton model the Sheriff. At the 1924 New York Auto Show, Studebaker featured a 1918 Big Six that had a verified odometer reading of over 500,000 miles (800,000 km), as a testament to the longevity and durability of Studebaker vehicles.
