In 1964, Shelby American introduced the FIA version of the small block Cobra that dominated its class in many forms of racing throughout the 60s against marques like Corvette, Jaguar, and Aston Martin To celebrate this 50th anniversary Shelby American will offer only 50 limited edition continuation (CSX7000) Shelby 289 FIA Cobras. Each, will be painted Viking Blue, with FIA stripes and roundels, premium black interior, special billet anniversary badges, original style powder-coated wheels and a variety of additional options. The 289 FIA Cobras were among the most important cars in American racing history and were driven by some of the most revered drivers like Bondurant, Miles, Gurney, and Hill. These Cobras were designed, with racing in mind. Modifications included a new dash, widened front and rear fenders, cut back doors, racing, wheels featuring a pin drive hub and oil cooler scoops. This Shelby Cobra is in perfect condition, no flaws whatsoever. It is powered by a 427 Windsor motor which was custom built by Performance Engineering with a power output of over 500 HP and 500 ft. lbs. of torque (*See more here http://peracingengines.com/). The smooth running 427 is backed by a high performance Tremec TKO manual transmission. The side pipes of this 427 Cobra add a nice touch due to their ceramic coated black finish. The rolling chassis alone cannot be purchased for less than $70k plus! Superformance is the ONLY licensed manufacture of Cobras by Shelby Motor Corp. An additional note is that this vehicle has been SB100 certified, meaning in California it is smog exempt for the life of the car (This is an expensive and time consuming process). This is the last all aluminum body to be hand built on the original bucks by AC in Britain. Carroll Shelby signed a 3 year contract with AC in 2004 to build 50 a year for a total of 150 cars, These cars were to be exact replicas of the 60’s cars, except for gauges and the things needed to be federally compliant in the USA. The first 13 cars all have the AC Cobra badge on hood. None after that authentically carry the AC badge, only a Cobra badge as AC was out of the picture from car 14-22. AC was unable to meet production times with Carroll Shelby and the deal ended during car 14. Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue stripes/Black. Beautifully proportioned Contemporary Classic body. Titled as a 1967 Shelby. Authentically and professionally built about 20 years ago and has traveled less than 8K miles since. Built at a cost of over $80K in 1994 dollars! 427cid Side Oiler motor mated to a Top Loader 4-speed transmission. Jaguar rear end. The body was assembled and painted by Steve Frisbee at Steve's Auto Restorations at great cost. All receipts from the build are available (about $82K total). Genuine Halibrand wheels. Chock full of parts from Shelby Enterprises. Roll bar. Quick-lift jack bumpers are currently fitted, but the car also comes with nerf-bar bumpers. Painted in America's racing colors.
