Howdy folks! I greatly appreciate you taking the time from your day to read about my Volvo. I will say right up front, if you are not a Volvo person then this vehicle is probably not going to do much for you. I have thought about how to best sell this vehicle, and how to reach the widest market and eBay is what I came up with. How can you describe a car, in words, and try to convince someone to buy it and not be able to experience, feel it, drive it, -- I have no idea....but I am going to do my best. Before I get into the car, I will offer some background on myself. I am a Volvo nerd. My first car was a 1964 1800S, and between my dad and I we have owned every model since the PV-444 to XC90's. I currently live in Savannah, GA and I really hope to connect with someone via this listing that can come SEE the vehicle. I grew up in Northern VA, and moved to Savannah about 15 years ago where I ended up managing service at Volvo of Savannah (fitting, right?!) for about 12 years until I opened my own dealership with my wife, eBay will not let me post an active link, so, you can Google Riehl Automotive to read more about our business, and to see our reviews and whatnot, and get more information about me.Ok, so.....this vehicle was a project for me, it is done and I had my fun, it is time to pass it along to her next owner....I bought it about 12 months ago -- I recognized the potential it had as a true survivor -- last year of the 850, low miles, and turbo. The body and paint are amazing, and overall it was a great vehicle. When I bought it, I knew it ran hot however I did know know why. After getting into I was saddened to find the head-gasket had a weak spot in it. This is where is gets fun.I had a friend that had 1997 850-R sedan that had been wrecked in the front real bad. So my wheels began to turn....so I bought it from him and got to work. So, I had the head pulled and we located the weak point in the head. The head was sent off and was checked and cleaned. She started going back together....we took the cams and the ECM from the R vehicle and installed them in this vehicle. Everything went perfect -- all new gaskets were used, new plugs were installed, new timing belt, water pump, roller, tensioner, the whole deal. While we were there we opened the waste gate on the turbo, 5 psi kick in 1500 RPM's faster on the power scale - this car is a sleeper and it is nasty.The interior was totally redone:headliner was replacedR seats were installed front and rearR steering wheel was installedR hand brake coverR door panel insertsR shift knob (it is worn) It does has aftermarket 17 inch wheels - front and rear tires are all the same size and are all at around 50% treadThe front two match and the rear two match (brand) The mileage IS ACCURATE. I have the CarFax but can not post it on here, please email me and I can send the file. Mechanically, I will outline what I have done, and what I know has been done: both front drive axles are new just had it aligned new turbo return line o-ring and dipstick tube o-ring battery is about 18 months old rear man seal is NOT LEAKING timing belt, water pump, and the tensioner are brand new front and rear brakes are brand new (they do squeak a little) there are no shimmies or pulls when you brake, drive, decelerate, or accelerate plugs, cap, rotor, and plugs were recently done oil change and coolant are fresh AC and heat work I have two keys All manuals are present all power options work (windows, locks, cruise, heated seats, gauges, seats, sunroof (does NOT leak), stereo)there are NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS ONthe turbo has no issuesheadliner was just replacedradiator is brand new Cosmetically this vehicle is as good as you will find for a 1997 the paint is NOT perfect, but it is CLOSE, I would say 9.5 out of 10the back seat looks like it may never has been sat inthe front seats are NOT cracked but have some minor wear the headliner IS NOT falling down A few things to mentionI have the radio codeThe dash pad is pulling up. I bought this nova in California about 4 years ago. I moved to Savannah, GA about 2 years ago and had it shipped here for about $1200 if I remember correctly.The car was originally dark brown with a tan top. And a bench style front seat. I had the car painted at Maaco here in Savannah and they did a very good job. Door panels, under hood trunk, etc.. I paid $1800.00 for that. This car ABSULUTELY has no rust and it never did. All metal and never been repaired or patched. All original body. In very good condition.The paint job looks very good still because I have kept it under a carport. But if you look very, very close, There are TEENY little spots of white overspray from when I painted my house and wind blew the paint on the car. You will not buff it off. No one notices it until I point it out and they look very closely.The carpet has a little square spot missing under hump where the transmission runs under the car down the middle. It had a floor shifter. I put it back on the column where it was factory.The lady I bought it from said the engine was rebuilt. I believe her, I have put over 5000 miles at least on this car and it runs and shifts perfect. It has a 350 C.I. four bolt main, with a TH 350 transmission (I had to replace the speedometer gear). The rear end is a Camaro oddly enough. The car is extremely fast top end. At 75 mph if you stomp the gas, it kicks in and pushes you back in the seat. But it is very quick off the line as well.I put a new edlebrock carburetor on it since the holley it had on it when I bought it did not have a choke.This car has NO AC. never did. It has vents by your knees where you pull out these knobs and A LOT OF AIR comes in. It is bearable in the summer because of this even here in Savannah.I updraded the big three power cables, ground, alternator, and ... I can't remember where the third wire goes. I did this because I had a 10,000 watt RMS stereo in it for a while. It has excellent speakers in door kick. deck and satellite tweeters. None are blown. I also has a 220 watt alternator installed on it.$400 plus for that I paid. And I will send a brand knew 125 watt all chrome alternator as well as the original 63 watt that came with it.One of the blinker/rear tail light sockets got a breech and was holding water so o replaced that. Also the lamp holders for the rear bulbs are new but they are brittle so I have re-inforcement Mastic tape in two little spots. Holding two bulbs stationary.I drove the car 100 miles Christmas day. The left blinker bulb is out, as well as the overhead light bulb. I am not fixing those.Other than that EVERYTHING on the car works, wipers, new trunk and door gaskets, defrost and heater work excellent, I left a decent stereo in it with a four channel JL audio amp. Trunk looks good. NEVER HAD RUST ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR.I have been a totally honest as I can be with this listing.The reason I am selling it is because I recently purchased a 2002 Land rover and spent Over $9000.00 between lift kit, bumper, wheels rack etc.. I go over board to fix anything up I buy. Silly really. I am OCD perfectionist. Bad combo.The VIN number on this car is 1X27D5W177781 (It came as a nova with a 260 C.I. originally)It has a title number I will give you THIS IS NOT A SALVAGE CAR. But I lost the paper title when I moved. You can get one sent to you by paying. Behold! The legendary Honda Civic. This is for a four-door, automatic 1994 Honda Civic. I had long intended to take this car to her grave, but alas, I am moving to a place with no parking and lots of subways, so she must go. Who wants, nay, needs this venerable beast? This Civic, though her body be scarred from a glorious and storied past, is essentially invincible to all manners of abuse, resistant to aging as if enchanted by warlock, intensely reliable, and requires minimal maintenance. WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?- A teen's first car. - A low gas milage go-mobile for frequent commuters- That glorious road trip you meant to take, but didn't want to put the miles on a car of greater value/lesser fortitude- Competing in the "LeMons" races https://www.24hoursoflemons.com- Sacrificing to Mythbusters-like science - Racing??- Anyone who needs an affordable, reliable car now! Down to brass tacks. WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT THIS CAR: - At it's age, you pretty much give it oil and change it's tires. And the tires are good right now. - Engine is a beast. It has never, ever had a fundamental engine problem. - Recently (past few years) replaced timing belt, water pump, radiator, radiator hoses. - Still fuel efficient for its age (estimated 33MPG highway, 25 city). - Heat works well. - Automatic windows work, including driver's side control panel for all windows. - Cruise control still works, which actually blows even MY mind. - Surprising ability to accelerate. Grandma's got gas. - A turning radius that would make a prancing drag queen jealous - In many states, this car will qualify for "classic" tags in 2019, which is absurd, and will really upset actual car enthusiasts when you take it to competitions. WHAT'S OBVIOUSLY WRONG ABOUT IT:I mean, it's got problems - it's important to be realistic about a long-term relationship, which is what you can still have with this 21-year-old car, because it's will to live is a force of nature: - AC is out. It's been out for eight years, but remember how great those windows work. - Power steering is going. It's a good core workout. I can still parallel park it and I am a 5'4" woman. Are you weaker than a 5' 4" woman? If not, then you will be excellent at driving this car. - Passenger side seatbelt doesn't work so you'll either want to fix it, or put anything you love and cherish in the back. - Passenger side interior door handle and window control look broken, but they work. They're just ugly. You'll find yourself getting over that quickly though, in favor of this car's unassailable work ethic, dependability, and pure heart. - There's not a stereo, but there's a place for one to go, so that you can get one that you really, really like. Or just turn up the speaker on your cellphone, because you are a gangsta. - Body damage. What you see in the photos is what you get. Each one has a story - a beautiful, touching tale which I am happy to share with you on request. You can also make the car even more your own by fabricating your own tales of how she obtained these scars. This is called "bonding". - No muffler. My husband had a similar '97 civic to which someone had added a high-end aftermarket muffler. Our cars made the exact same sounds, except his were expensive and mine are free. - Horn is out. This is seriously the worst part. However, I have become much better at hurling curses. WHAT IS THIS CAR'S HISTORY?You need only look at her sweet bod to see most of that. Her milage is around 215,000, or something. Does it matter after that point? Yes, because Civics can surpass 300,000 miles! Why, she's just hitting her stride. This car was excellently taken care of in her early life by her previous owner, my father's boss and friend of the family. Then she was sold to a twenty-year-old me eleven years ago. There was, we'll call it a dark period in her life. Then, around age twenty five, I realized that she deserved better. I apologized to her and started taking her in for regular maintenance again. As mentioned, several of her parts have been replaced recently as part of typical maintenance. From Coastal Georgia and SC, I have travelled to San Antonio thrice, San Diego and back once, and New York and back once. She has frequently made the trip - I mean on average once a month - from the coast up to Charlotte, NC for the past ten years. Not once - not once, friends - has she left me on the side of the road. I had even - and I am not proud of this dear readers - in my younger years, found her oil well utterly dry, in need of two quarts to even register, and not a peep from her. I would like to point out here that most cars seize without oil instantly. My army husband says that their Blackhawks are built to run for like thirty minutes without oil in case the helicopter is shot. Tis Civic has gone for days. She's not going to throw a rod, unless it's at the spectre of Death as she zooms on by, laughing in it's face. This Civic has not been shot, but I doubt that it would change anything if she was.
