You are looking at a nicely equipped 2003 VW Passat GLS 1.8L Turbocharged Black Exterior with Black Leather Interior. Same engine and platform as the popular Audi A4 B5! Options include sunroof, heated seats, leather seats, cruise control, and Monsoon sound system. Exterior: The exterior exhibits expected wear for a car of this age and mileage. It has dings, scratches and dents, the worst being a large dent on the rear driver side fender where the car was backed into something. There is a small rust spot on the trunk lid right under the "Passat" emblem. Some of the rims have scratches as expected, but nothing serious. The headlights are a little hazy, but not too bad. The car cleans up nice though, and most of its imperfections aren't even noticeable from a short distance away. I would give the exterior a 6/10 overall. Interior: The interior is in excellent condition for a car of this age and mileage. It exhibits normal wear and tear, but is very clean and has been well maintained. Things to mention: The heated seats work intermittently, there is a very small hole on the driver's side seat bolster, one of the center dash vents is missing a few of the horizontal air guides, the steering wheel has a small wear spot at the 12 o'clock position, the climate control knobs no longer illuminate, and the rear ashtray no longer locks in the closed position. Also, the ignition key no longer stays locked in the ignition. For example, you can start the car and then just pull the key out while the car is running. The car will continue run as normal. This is quite peculiar. Mechanical: The car runs and drives fine with no known major mechanical issues. It tracks straight and handles smoothly. The a/c blows cold. Regular oil changes were always performed under current ownership and the water pump along with the timing belt were replaced in 2012. It will need brakes soon, as the "check brakes" light has been coming on intermittently lately. The tires were changed recently and have plenty of tread left. The car vibrates a little bit when it's in gear and completely stopped. The car has been doing this for years with no problems, but I wanted to mention it. I think the idle just needs to be adjusted because this only happens when the car is stopped and under a slight load from being in gear. If the car is in park or neutral it goes away. The check engine light is on, but I plan to take the car to the auto parts store this week to see what that's about. The car has Connecticut tags but is located in Port Orange, FL.
