1999 Porsche 911 Convertible / 996 RUF body kit /$18K worth of upgrades! Allow me to present to you my dad’s retirement car. He always wanted a 911 his whole life and was finally able to afford one. Being the good son, I talked him into buying this beautiful car and enjoying some of the fruits of his many years of hard work. After 6 years of enjoyment and pampering, he is ready for his next adventure. I can’t wait to help him find the next one… This gorgeous 911 was given the full RUF body treatment, interior & exterior carbon fiber accents, and wheels. To say it is unique and sexy is an understatement. In fact, I had to tackle my wife and pry the keys out of her hand one day. Brand new, it topped nearly $100K and can be had today for a fraction of that cost. And yes, it still looks every bit of a $100K Porsche! You will be noticed driving this car. Not for anyone in the witness protection program. Car will be shown to serious buyers only. No joy rides. Car will not leave my possession until all funds are verified. Neither my dad nor I are in any hurry to sell this car and this is not a distressed sale, so please save your low-ball offers for another car. The highlights and specs: 1999 Porsche 911 / 996 Convertible 97,450 miles at time of writing 6-speed manual transmission (the only way to order a Porsche) Matching hard top with glass window included with sale (stand and cover included) Southern car history - never driven in snow / salt No accidents or body work (other than the custom work) Garaged, pampered and loved by fanatical Porsche owners its whole life Litronic Headlights - these are amazing if you’ve never experienced them Hardwired built in radar detector CD player / + 6-disk changer / Sirius Radio Massive 315 tires in rear with professionally rolled fenders for clearance Clear markers lights, carbon fiber wing, one-of-a-kind Porsche Maintenance History: Full records from day one including Car Fax and dealer receipts Key Service Notes: 53,944 miles / 2006 - Rear main seal replaced, as well as full engine out service 66,643 miles - Front pads, rotors, sensors 67,130 miles - Rear shocks, plugs, belt 2011 - New temp. sensor, new convertible soft top, new convertible hydraulic pump, lines, and actuators, rear brake pads & rotors, new fuel sender 86,816 miles / 2012 - New Front tires and dealer alignment 89,761 miles / 2013 - New water pump, pulleys, tensioners, belt, plugs, coil, alternator (while the engine is dropped…) 8/11/2015 - Passed SMOG test 9/22/2015 - Oil + filter change, new battery In Summary: I consider the 911 a timeless masterpiece of Porsche. They will always look good. It is a car to aspire and dream about. I consider it an attainable halo car. Keep in mind that this is not a brand new 911 convertible for $175K in the dealer showroom. If you are expecting a new car, head to the dealer. This is an extremely well cared for Porsche that is 16 years old and 97,450 miles on the clock. There will be a nick here, and an imperfection there. The car needs nothing mechanically or visually in my opinion. I am extremely “picky” by nature and have addressed any issues deemed necessary. I will aid in any inspections or shipping for serious buyers at YOUR expense. It is being stored in my “bomb shelter” of a garage and will be driven occasionally in nice weather until sold. Clean title signed and ready for your name. Car is for sale locally and can be pulled from eBay at any time. This ad cost me $50 for the week and I will not be renewing every week ($$$) unless it can be done for free. Besides, I get to drive a Porsche for FREE until it is sold :) So, if you are interested don't hesitate! 706-463-0494 call or text Bob. I do NOT need help selling this car or wish to advertise on your site or publication. Serious buyers only please. IMS Bearing School 101: I few questions have been asked about the dreaded "Porsche IMS Bearing." I performed A LOT of research on the intermediate shaft bearing issues before this car was purchased. It did not affect the '99's. It is for the 2002-2004 model year. The number of actual failures was only 4-10% and affected cars mostly of extreme low mileage. In other words, cars that sat around. I am heavily involved in aviation and "corrosion" is the main culprit of engine failures in airplanes that sit and are not flown. The oil will absorb moisture and if not driven frequently and heated up to burn off the moisture it starts wreaking havoc on internal parts. Unfortunately for Porsche, the metal on the 2002-2004 models for the bearing was sub-standard and could not tolerate moisture/corrosion. What did affect this model year is the REAR MAIN SEAL - A gasket. They all eventually seem to fail. This would cause your Porsche to start marking its territory on your garage floor a drop at a time. The engine would have to be pulled and separated from the transmission to gain access. A procedure that I imagine would cost a few dollars. This WAS done on this car at 53,944 miles on 10/31/2006. A whole lot of other parts including the timing chain was performed at the same time. I hope this helps in your understanding of the two main issues that come to question these outstanding cars. A short Porsche story.... I take this car for a spin a couple of times a month to stretch its legs. Last Saturday, I had an hour to kill while my son was at Tae Kwon Do. It was 68 degrees, sunny, the top was down, and I had the heat on low. Life was good, and about to get better. After some state roads and taking in the scenery, I hit the interstate. There is a favorite stretch of mine that is several miles long, no access, and unlimited visibility. I dropped down into 4th gear at 80 and opened her up. For a car nut, you haven't lived until you hear a Porsche flat 6 at wide open throttle with the top down. The mechanical symphony behind me was relentless as this beauty came into its element. Wow! I powered through 4th gear and shifted at redline at a buck-twenty-five. The satisfaction of grabbing 5th and executing a perfect shift with such an angry force of Porsche power begging me for more. At that moment, accelerating, this machine was occupying 100% of my brain. There was no mind wandering, no worries, no stress - just steadfast focus of man and machine. The same rush I get when I line up on the runway in my plane and push the throttle forward. You are intent on listening and feeling every glorious sensation. My friends, life is short. Live it, experience it, and most importantly, love it! I buy toys, play with them, and then sell to buy another. You can literally buy this car, drive for a few years, and then resell all while taking less depreciation than your neighbor driving the average new car off the dealer lot. Thanks for looking and reading :)
