Offered for sale is this very solid 1983 Porsche 944. New Jersey inspection sticker is good until the end of this year. VIN WP0AA0947DN457632. The car is a base model coupe with a 5-speed transmission, and the naturally-aspirated, 2.5L 143 HP inline 4 cylinder engine. I do not have paperwork to hand over to the new owner, but the previous owner mentioned that on the last compression test, cylinders 1 and 2 read 150, and cylinders 3 and 4 read 155. I started making notes of the changes I made to the car in a small notebook kept in the glove compartment. The title is clear and lists the mileage as 86,249. *This is not accurate due to the mechanical failure of the odometer.* The speedometer/odometer has since been replaced. The car does idle rough at cold start up. I've troubleshooted the issue to the air flow meter needing some TLC. Upon reaching temperature, the car runs very smoothly, driving and shifting well through all RPM. The lights have just started acting up. They turn on and off, but periodically fail to raise. I believe this is due to some faulty grounding. This 944 has a sunroof, power windows, and power brakes. The tag in the rear of the car lists the option codes for an anti-theft device, power steering, side moldings, wheel locks, the Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 radio, and a cassette & coin storage box. The previous owner added the aftermarket rear valance to the car. It is cracked, and since it is not original to the car, I intended to remove it. I purchased this car in April with the intent of restoring it. I have since changed jobs, am about to move, and cannot keep the car. In the few months that I have owned the car, I have: - changed the oil and oil filter : Castrol GTX oil, Mahle filter - given the car a full tune up : Bosch distributor cap & rotor, Bosch ignition coil, Bosch plugs, Clewett Engineering spark wires, Mahle air filter, Mahle fuel filter - flushed and bled the power steering system - repaired both defective radiator cooling fans - replaced a faulty engine block-mounted temperature sensor - installed new OEM under-hood sound deadening pads - repaired a non-working driver's side window regulator - replaced a defective speedometer/odometer with another factory VDO unit - replaced a defective oil pressure gauge with another factory VDO unit - replaced floppy sun visors and cracked mounting hardware - replaced the cracked center console - replaced the damaged cassette & coin storage box The car comes with a Haynes repair manual and a box full of some extra parts. The Pioneer CD/radio from the previous owner is included, as is an original Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.
