I am selling my 914/6 with a heavy heart. It has been 4+ years since I bought it in Oregon where it had spent its entire life. I am not sure what it was prior to about 1980 but after the early years it was a race car and kept in a garage for at least its last 30+ years. I bought it and converted it to street use where it has been for 4+ years. It is a numbers matching car, engine number matches COA from Porsche. It has been used occasionally over the last 4+ years but I have since bought another car and something has to go - my wife says so! Not a full restoration but a complete refreshing of the interior, engine, transmission, exhaust, brakes undercarriage, front and rear trunks. I realize that is hard to believe it is rust free but the car is an Oregon car whose last home was in the collection of Monte Shelton of Portland, OR. Car was set up and maintained by Rothsport racing in Oregon and hell hole was repaired in the early 2000s. I spoke with Jeff Gamroth (of Rothsport) at the last Rennsport Reunion and although he wasn’t sure, he thought he might have owned the car at one point. Body - Car is painted signal orange as per the COA. It has been repainted and is really nice at 3 feet but up close one sees some cracking on the right front and the left rear fender. Great driver condition but needs repaint for perfection. A new windshield was installed and rear window was removed and resealed. Targa vinyl was removed and replaced with vinyl from 914Rubber. The underside of car had been covered with a black undercoating which I removed by hand using Eastwood’s “Undergone” product and Xylene which worked quite well. I left the factory undercoating on the car so as to not appear to hide its condition. I have applied new undercoating to a few spots where the original had been scraped off. Front trunk – When I bought the car it had a front oil cooler which I removed and had the pan replaced with a Restoration Design replacement piece. The portion of front panel used for oil cooler air inlet was replaced with a portion of an original panel purchased on 914World. All metal work was done by Ron’s Rods in Kingsville, MD. Everything in the front trunk was removed including the gas tank, trunk lid, air box and all air flow pieces. All air flow hoses were replaced with new ones, everything was cleaned and refurbished. The gas tank was cleaned and refurbished with Eastwood’s gas tank products and new pipe exit parts including stainless steel fuel lines from Tangerine Racing were installed. All wiring was cleaned and/or replaced. The original orange paint in both trunks had been sprayed over with an undercoating/black paint-like material which I was able to remove with lots of elbow grease and Xylene. As there was no rust, the paint was sanded, primed and then seam sealed. Rear trunk – The same black undercoating material and the old paint was removed with paint remover, checked for rust, new seam sealer as appropriate was applied and then repainted. European taillights added as were all the other removable items (tower covers, light and targa roof holders. Interior – The entire interior was removed, an Engmann chassis stiffening kit for longs and across firewall was installed, and the original floor sound deadening material was removed to check for rust of which there was none. Floor was primed and painted and Eastwood’s equivalent of Dynamat was put on the floor, longs, and interior side of firewall. The car has the original black interior seats, back panel, door panel, knee bar, seat belts and dash. The entire interior seats and backing material was replaced with a used set bought at Hershey. Dash has 2 minor cracks that have been repaired and the entire dash was redyed. All instruments have been refurbished by North Hollywood Speedometers, Inc. Carpet replaced with 914Rubber carpeting. Car has a Momo Corsa steering wheel but an excellent leather wrapped 914/6 wheel is included. The correct Blauplunkt blue dot radio fills out the dash. Dash vinyl replaced with new 914Rubber vinyl. Engine – Original numbers matching case. Engine was built by Rothsport Racing in OR in mid 2000s and maintained there as well. Time-certs, oil squirters, oil bypass mods were done at that time. Engine was refreshed with new biral cylinders, JE Pistons, ’74 heads refurbished by Anchor Atlantic, case sent to Ollie’s in AZ for align boring, case halves surfacing, strengthening case at #3, cleaning and check out. When Rothsport built the engine they chose Solex cams to provide performance as well as exceptional drive ability. Weber carbs were rebuilt, new clutch/pressure plate, all new bearings and bolts and sealed with sealants provided by Henry Schmidt. John Behe at At Speed Motorsports, Hanover, MD dyno tuned engine yielding 130+ wheel hp at 6000 rpm or approximately 170 crank hp. Currently fitted with carb hats but original air cleaner is included. A new fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator has been installed. Ignition is MSD and Pertronic. Currently a green 911E fan housing cover is in place but the original black one is included in the sale. Transmission- Transmission was converted to side shifter and was rebuilt at a Dr. Evil clinic in VA. The airport gear set’s 4th and 5th gears were replaced with stock gears to make the car friendlier for around town and long drives. Transmission has a Porsche 930 LSD which Rothsport Racing added when they built the transmission. It was in good condition so I did not do anything else to it. It shifts great. The transmission shifts much smoother than my 915 transmission in my backdated RSR. Wheels – currently mounted with 15x7 Fuchs and new 195/65 Continental tires. Fuchs have been refinished with an RSR frosted finish. A set of 14” Fuchs with tires is also included. Three of the 4 have the correct date codes. Exhaust – Car has an original set of heat exchangers. There are a few holes in the heat exchanger but otherwise in good shape and perfectly functional. No holes in the exhaust pipes. Muffler is a new Dansk 2 in 2. Very impressive sound! Rubber and Vinyl – All vinyl and much of the rubber has been replaced with material from 914Rubber. Suspension/Brakes – Shocks are Bilstein front and rear with the rears being adjustable. New 140 lb. rear springs have been installed. Front has an adjustable sway bar. Front brakes are ‘80s Carrera and rears are stock 914/6 rebuilt by PMB. New hoses and new emergency brake cables were installed. The original air cleaner, padded steering wheel and the black fiberglass engine cover are included. The car is a kick to drive around and it has plenty of power when wanted. I hate to give it up but something has to go. Good luck with the raffle.

Bought car at estate sale, car fires right up runs good . transmission works, shifts are a little cumbersome, brakes work (need to be bled)car sat flat spots on tires.car has original paint from Chalon conversion (have original paint cans)paint tired but not bad.body overall in good shape, slight bubble behind driver side front wheel, small crack in windshield, only surface rust in trunk and frame. interor complete.lights and gauges pop up light up and work (all but fuel gauge) a little TLC and this will be a real nice car,I would, but to many projects to finish.I'll entertain trades worth what I'm asking for mine...
