1979 Special Edition Trans Am 400 4 speed car! With only 1107 built. From the 100,000 Trans Am models built for the 1979 year. That means less than 2 percent were Bandit 4 speed cars. Even fewer had the deluxe Hobnail interior and even less were the desired all black. This car also has all of the best options: WS6, A/C, PW, PS, P 4 Wheel Disc Brakes/ Posi-Trac, Map light group. Also included with the car is the PHS packet that proves the pedigree of this rare car! The body is very rust free being a West Coast car. Solid rockers, frame rails, wheel arches, floor boards, etc.) The car seems to have had a basic repaint years ago. The engine in the car is not correct and doesn't run, as it is a 455 YF motor if I remember right. So I sourced the exact W72 4 speed A/C 400 engine from a 1979 Trans Am a complete PWH motor. This comes with the car and is on a pallet at my home. These motors are extremely hard to find as they stockpiled only 8000 motors for the 1979 model year. The good thing is any PWH 1979 motor is date, and vehicle correct. The only non-match would be the motor VIN the rest is absolute 100 percent correct. This engine even has all of the correct parts even the special numbers matching carburetor used for the W72. Engine will need to be refurbished etc. 4 Speed transmission is the original and numbers matching. Overall the car is an easy restoration even the dash is decent. 1979 10th anniversary 400, 4 speed Trans Am, numbers matching motor and trans. Vin number 2X87Z9L152161 . Only 1817 were 4 speed 400 10th anniversary cars. WS6, A/C, PW,PS,P 4 Wheel Disc Brakes/ Posi Trac, This car is a 80k documented car. The title shows being purchased in 1990 with 79,860 miles. The car registration last registered was 1992. The miles on the car are 80,405. The body is a west coast car so it is fairly solid for a 36 year old car. There is some rust issues from years of sitting . 7 dime size holes in the trunk. Some trunk lid lip rust. Floor pans are mostly solid needing a fist size patch in the pass rear pan and a small hole or two. The worst area is the front cowl vent area, but luckily they sell the panel new for 200 bucks and it is easy to get to for the repair. Not running since 1992, oiled the cylinders and rotated the engine by hand each year but have not attempted starting it. This Trans Am needs total restoration. All original first year survivor 1987 Pontiac GTA Trans Am with 79k original miles since new. Completely original cosmetically including the original white paint. California blue plate clean title GTA. No rust at all not even a bubble, panels line up perfectly and the body is all original. No rust on the floors or frame either. It has the original TPI 5.0 V8 and automatic transmission. Loaded with all the options, including T-Tops. Starts right up and runs great. Stays cool and it does not seem to have any leaks. The steering is tight and the transmission shifts properly. The brakes work but it has been a few years since they were looked over. It has been stored here in southern California and driven very little as the odometer shows.The gauges work well. The power windows work but they are slow and should be serviced. Headlights work but the doors do not open on their own although they do make noise. It needs some TLC but it is an original first year GTA that you can drive as it sits. Clean title in hand.
