This is a 1983 Pontiac that has been rebuilt with no expense spared! The engine has been upgraded with a cam, Demon carburetor, tunnel ram intake, Hedman headers, MSD Ignition, MSD wires, Griffen Radiator, dual electric fans, and AN fittings. The stock brackets have been replaced by aluminum brackets. The alternator and power steering pump have also been upgraded with aluminum units. A few of the other upgrades are that the hood has been replaced with a lightweight fiberglass cowl induction unit, the transmission has a shift kit installed and a B&M shifter with reverse lockout. The frame has been reinforced with drag bars. The rear end has been replaced with a ford 9" with LSD. The paint is a recent job but has some blemishes from idiots with no respect for bitchin' automobiles. All of the glass is in excellent shape. The T tops are in excellent shape as well but need new weatherstripping because they leak a tiny bit. The tires have 80% tread left and grip like the day is long. The wheels are 17" ZE Forged aluminum units and are in good shape. I do not recall what units the brakes are but they have been upgraded so the car needs to run the bigger wheels. The interior shows slight wear but there are no rips or tears. The car starts easily and idles nicely. All of the gauges work. Terms and Conditions Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. You don't need a Trans Am to have fun, either, as this beautiful 1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 so ably demonstrates. With a nice restoration, lots of options, and a big dose of horsepower, it remains the best-handling muscle car of the era. Cardinal Red is a traditional Pontiac color and few cars wear it as well as this Formula. Combined with the aggressive ram air hood, ducktail spoiler, and a distinct lack of graphics, you can see the single-minded performance approach that the Formula represents. Neatly restored a few years ago, it still looks great, which is purely the result of lots of time and lots of money being spent on the final product. The Endura nose cone with traditional Pontiac split grille makes this car easy to recognize at a glance and the addition of a white vinyl top gives it a sleek '70s look that plays very well today. A few bright trim pieces look great and dress the car up and it proudly wears 'Formula 350' emblems on its front fenders, the only identifiers on the entire car. The black and white interior is largely original and in great condition overall. The white front seat covers are surely new, since they're just too bright and perfect to be 45 years old, but the rest looks age-appropriate. The black carpets, dash, and console prevent it from being too sterile in there and it all remains in above-average condition. The original 3-spoke steering wheel is wrapped with black leather, so it's fatter and easier to grab than stock, and a center console puts the shifter right where you want it. Factory gauges show clear markings in a woodgrained panel (the engine-turned stuff was still reserved for the Trans Am) and there's a newer JVC AM/FM/CD stereo in the center. Other desirable options include factory A/C and power windows, a nice combination that makes this Formula easy to live with. Firebird-logo floor mats help keep it looking tidy and as you can see, the trunk is especially clean. Who needs a big block to have fun in a Pontiac? This Formula uses 350 cubic inches to make its horsepower, and fortified with an Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carburetor, and long-tube headers, it's a very strong runner. Chrome dress-up pieces, a recent alternator, and bright turquoise engine enamel make the engine bay look well-tended, and as you can see, the A/C system has had some recent work, including an R134a refrigerant upgrade. The transmission is a quick-shifting TH350 3-speed automatic feeding a sturdy 10-bolt rear end, which also looks to have been recently serviced. A recent dual exhaust system gives the Pontiac V8 a unique engine note that's distinct from its Chevy cousins, and obviously the floors are in excellent shape. Handsome Rally II wheels with trim rings and fat 225/60/15 BFGoodrich radials retain that cool Pontiac performance look. A very strong runner with great cosmetics and a few nice options make this Formula a winner. Even better is the insanely affordable price, making this a sure bet for Pontiac fans. Treated to a full Pro-Touring makeover that includes big block power, a 5-speed gearbox, 4-wheel disc brakes, upgraded suspension, and a spectacular interior, it's perhaps the most amazing vehicle we've ever had in our Dallas showroom (750 cars and counting). Perhaps this car's most striking feature is how it looks. Not that it's radical, but rather that something so radical can also be so subtle. The icy blue paint doesn't have stripes or graphics, but the finish quality is simply spectacular and worthy of a car at this level. However, it's only when you get close to it that you realize this is far, far more than just a Firebird with some flashy wheels. You'll note that the door handles have been shaved, which is a classic hot-rodding trick that works as well here as it does on a '34 Ford. The Ram Air hood has been skillfully modified to clear the towering big block engine underneath, a trick so seamless that you probably wouldn't have noticed without me telling you about it. The rest is simply beautifully finished to an extremely high level, with laser-straight bodywork, gaps that you can calibrate instruments by, and paint that's almost impossibly shiny. The real trick is how they managed to restrain themselves from making this a rolling billboard for high-performance and get it so right in every way. Take your time with the photos, it's worth it. The interior got a fairly comprehensive makeover as well, starting with a pair of white leather Cobra Racing buckets and 5-point harnesses. They'll hold you in place no matter what you're doing. The rest of the interior is pretty much stock Firebird, all beautifully restored and finished. The wood-rimmed wheel is a little fatter than stock but really warms things up and the stock instruments have been restored and calibrated to work with the new engine. A custom center console is both comfortable and practical, and you'll note that the Hurst cue ball shifter shows five forward gears instead of four, but we'll get to that in a moment. There's also a top-flight stereo system based on a JVC AM/FM/CD stereo head unit with HD radio, and it powers a quartet of 6x9 Polk Audio speakers and an 8-inch Blaupunkt subwoofer, so it sounds amazing. The trunk is finished with carpet and a remote-mounted Optima and a white convertible top seals everything up. Power comes from a GM ZZ502 crate engine which features four-bolt mains, a forged crank, a full roller camshaft, and polished aluminum heads to make 502 horsepower and 565 pounds of torque. A fully polished intake manifold, chrome valve covers, and clean routing of hoses and wires makes the engine bay show quality in every way, and thanks to the wonders of electronic fuel injection, it starts, runs, and idles like a production car. A Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission easily harnesses the horsepower without a whimper and feeds it to a stout 12-bolt full of 3.73 gears on an Auburn limited slip, so you know it isn't going to break. The suspension is augmented with Hotchkiss components, Bilstein shocks, and a Unisteer power rack-and-pinion steering setup, as well as oversized SSBC disc brakes at all four corners. A gorgeous custom exhaust system tucks the pipes and mufflers up high for great ground clearance despite the lowered ride height. Finally, a set of 18-inch Dale Earnhardt Jr. wheels were fitted with staggered 225/45/18 front and 275/40/18 rear performance radials to keep it stuck to the ground. Like I said, there's just not enough room to cover all the awesomeness that is this Firebird. If you're big enough to want to play with the best, give us a call for all the spectacular details. Loaded with options, powered by a freshly rebuilt turbocharged V8, and wearing a clean, sleek coat of paint instead of flashy decals, it might just be the best car Pontiac built in 1980. Wearing its original Montreux Maroon paint, this is one of the most sophisticated and elegant-looking F-bodies we've ever featured. Sure, the Trans Am with its big decals gets the attention, but if you want a clean, sporting car that lets the bodywork do the talking, then this is the right choice. Now don't get me wrong, this isn't exactly a subtle car, not with the gold pinstripes and two-tone lower bodywork, but it certainly looks clean and sleek compared to some of its siblings. For original paint, the shine is quite good and while it's 35 years old, someone has taken the time to keep it polished up and looking its best. The gold pinstripes are, of course, decals, and they look great against the burgundy paint, as does the "TURBO 4.9" lettering on the cool aero hood scoop. Pontiac made the most of their innovative turbo engine by advertising it everywhere they could, including on the rear spoiler, where it also says "TURBO FORMULA." And for those of you in the know, this is one rare car because of it. The Camel cloth interior gets all the same great features as its sibling, the Trans Am, including high-back bucket seats, a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in leather, and the engine-turned dashboard. The grippy cloth upholstery is perhaps preferable to the sticky vinyl in most Trans Ams and it certainly has a look that belies the era in which it was built. The options list is long, including power windows and locks, a freshly-rebuilt A/C system with R12 refrigerant inside, a tilt steering column, rear defroster, and T-tops, which make this car a joy to drive on sunny days. Remarkably, everything works, including the AM/FM stereo radio and even the turbo boost lights on the hood! The carpets, dash pad, and headliner are all in excellent condition and the back seat area looks barely used, indicative of a car that's led an easy life. The trunk is upholstered in black carpet and includes a space-saver spare with jack assembly. Pontiac was leading the charge on forced-induction, putting a turbocharger on their 4.9 liter V8 engine. This one was just rebuilt to original specifications, so it runs superbly and doesn't have any of the issues you'd expect from an early experiment in boosted engines. It starts easily and makes good power and impressive torque when the boost comes up and throttle response is crisp thanks to a rebuilt carburetor. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is the best choice with the turbocharged engine, keeping boost up between shifts, and with 3.08 gears on a Posi limited slip, it's a fine highway cruiser as well. The front suspension was rebuilt, there are new control arm bushings, and a fresh steering box, so it tracks straight and handles as well as these cars could when they were new. The exhaust system uses a pair of stainless Magnaflow mufflers for a unique sound and it appears that there are new shocks all around. Those shiny silver "snowflake" alloy wheels aren't original but they do look amazing here, especially when wrapped in fat 225/70/15 BFG radials. Documented with its original build sheet, Protect-O-Plate, and a reproduction window sticker, this is a rare Firebird with plenty of performance and a great pedigree, all at a bargain price. Fourth-generation F-bodies delivered staggering performance at a very reasonable price when they were new, and today cars like this with their LT1 powerplants and surprisingly capable suspensions are shockingly fast and remarkably affordable. Painted bright red, this car is probably not going to help you avoid the local constabulary. But hey, for this price, you can probably afford a few speeding tickets anyway. The composite bodywork (except for the quarter panels) was all-new in 1992 and gave the Trans AM an instantly-identifiable but unique look that included the round fog lamps up front and a wrap-around rear spoiler that Trans Am fans recognized right away. The factory red paint still shines up nicely and thanks to that plastic bodywork, there are no dents or rust in the usual places. Perhaps a little stranger, the Pontiac guys decided to hold back on decals and strips, including the hood chicken, so this one shows pure menace instead of glamour. Fit and finish are factor-grade and as a clean, original, unmolested car, it still fits together quite well and shows years of conscientious cleaning and waxing. Tinted window certainly don't hurt and not even the chin spoiler or rocker panel ground effects show any major signs of age, so someone was really careful driving this car. Cloth upholstery in a Trans Am is a rather rare find, and if you're a performance driver, you know that it's the preferred seating surface of choice when going around corners is what you do. The gray cloth is in excellent condition with only light wear on the outer bolsters, as you'd expect. But for a car that's now more than 20 years old, the level of preservation is rather impressive. Even more impressive is what you get for your money, which is to say this car is loaded! A/C, power windows, locks, and seats, cruise control, and a driver's side airbag are all included. Instrumentation is comprehensive and the driving position is excellent, particularly compared to its immediate predecessor. The original Delco AM/FM/CD stereo remains in the center stack, and yes, that aluminum shifter is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission, the enthusiast's gearbox of choice. Clean carpets, an untouched back seat, and a very nicely finished trunk area round out a really impressive interior. The Trans Am borrowed the Corvette's 350 cubic inch LT1 V8. GM played games with the horsepower figures, but performance testing at the time pretty much confirmed that the F-bodies were every bit as potent under the hood. But what's truly remarkable about this car isn't the horsepower itself, but rather that one of the most modification-friendly engines ever built remains almost entirely stock in this car's case. From the curved air intake to the catalytic converter underneath, this one hasn't been "upgraded" and abused, but rather loved and properly maintained by three adult owners. A glance underneath offers more proof of clean living, as you can still see red overspray on the floors and no signs of rust damage or accidents, which is always a relief in a car with this much affordable power on tap. Power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes add to the Trans Am's user-friendly nature. The only notable modification is that set of spectacular chrome wheels, which were actually borrowed from a 2000 Trans AM and then fitted with 245/50/16 performance radials. Look the photos over carefully, then double-check that price and you'll find that getting this much performance in this condition for so little cash seems to make a lot of sense. With a matching-numbers powertrain, lots of new equipment, and that familiar '70s performance look, it's no wonder these cars are seeing strong gains in value over the past few years. This Y82 Special Edition was delivered to Witt Pontiac in November of 1977. It only has 300 miles on a complete frame-off restoration done 2013 through May, 2015. It's dressed in fresh starlight black paint and sports Hurst, first edition T -tops. The black seems to highlight not only the aggressive shape, but the many gold-colored details practically leap off the glossy bodywork. And for a car that's coming up on its 40th birthday, this one sure looks good, with super straight flanks that don't even show so much as a parking lot ding and a glossy finish that holds up under close scrutiny. It's got that look that will get every man thinking about hitting the road and and running from "Smokey" A few bubbles under the firebird on the hood seem to be the only issue, and an afternoon spent buffing the hood will probably pay big dividends. Nonetheless, this is a very good-looking car. The tan interior is a more comfortable choice to Bandit's basic black, especially when you pull the T-tops off. The interior is in fantastic condition, with new and very correct uphholstery with exact factory specifications, along with crisply rendered door panels and that cool gold-toned engine-turned instrument panel. Gold seems to be the theme for this '78 SE, because the spokes of the steering wheel are the same color, and as an SE, just about everything was part of the deal, including A/C, power windows, cruise control, and, of course, the T-tops. The A/C uses R134a refrigerant so it's effective today and easy to service and the gauges are in excellent condition with big, easy-to-read markings. An upgraded AM/FM/iPod stereo head unit has been stuffed into the dash and the floors are protected by big heavy-duty rubber mats. The trunk is upholstered in black carpet and extra sound-proofing which give the Trans Am an upscale vibe and help control noise, too. The legendary W72 6.6 litre V8 advertised under the hood still delivers big fun in today's era of 300-horsepower minivans. The engine was rebuilt in February and runs superbly and thanks to much time out of the engine bay, it's quite nicely detailed, too. The block wears correct corporate blue engine enamel, and the big hood scoop still inhales through a separate hose, not the scoop itself. Lots of new components ensure a great driving experience, a list of parts several pages long. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that never seems to mind dropping down a gear when you get heavy on the throttle. The soundtrack is quite thrilling thanks to a recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system underneath. The chassis is quite clean, which comes courtesy of a life lived in the warm, dry climate of Texas, and even the gorgeous "snowflake" alloy wheels show littlesigns of age. Documented with tons of receipts for the extensive restoration work plus the original window sticker and PHS paperwork, this is a high-quality T/A that was built to enjoy while it appreciates. For all practical purposes this a "new" thirty seven year old classic. '70s Trans Ams are red hot, and this one packs its numbers-matching engine and 4-speed transmission, a first class interior, and great-looking Starlight Black paint. You wanted one when you were a kid, and at this price there's just no excuse not to own it today. Is this car perfect? No, but it's a heck of a lot nicer than the price tag would suggest. The paint is quite nice, better than most of these cars got when they were freshened, but now with prices shooting up, it looks right at home on the show field. And regardless, it's still superior to whatever GM was spraying on cars in 1979. It's also nicely assembled, with urethane bumpers that fit well, big doors that close without needing a violent slam, and proper Trans Am graphics everywhere you look. Never designed to be a subtle machine, the deep Starlight Black is the perfect '70s color if you're looking to relive an era and it's hard to see this car without thinking of a certain favorite movie. The chin spoiler doesn't show any evidence of run-ins with steep driveways or parking curbs, making this a car that can hold its head high at car shows and still turn heads on the street. Honestly, driving one of these today is even more of an event than it was in 1979. The black interior shows a lot of clean, well-maintained equipment, including seat covers that show some very minor wear but no signs of damage or neglect. Other stuff like the center console and carpets are in excellent shape and you can see that this car's always been well-maintained (the lack of T-tops undoubtedly helped this car's survival, since the sun can be murder on interiors). The gauges are original and show clear lenses and bright markings, all visible through one of the most handsome steering wheels of the period. The factory radio is long gone, replaced at some point by an AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit that fits in the dash just as if it was born there. The trunk is also nicely finished and includes an original-style space-saver spare that's never been used plus a full jack assembly. Nice! When you checked the 4-speed manual transmission box on the order form for your new Trans Am, you not only got a heavy-duty Muncie gearbox, but also a genuine 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 rated at a fairly stout 220 horsepower. And yes, this is the original, numbers-matching block, topped with a 4-barrel carburetor living under the hood scoop, which was more decoration than function, but who cares when it looks this cool? The engine has been properly maintained and it shows, with only the A/C compressor missing. A true dual exhaust system with long-tube headers and a pair of Flowmaster mufflers probably frees up a few ponies and sounds awesome. The undercarriage is original but there the car has clearly led an easy life, particularly most recently when it has been treated as a true collector's item. And seriously, there aren't many factory wheels better-looking than the Pontiac snowflakes, which have been wrapped in 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. Documented with the original window sticker, dealer invoice, warranty card, and owner's manual, this car could be called a smart investment the way prices are on the move. But there aren't many investments that are this much fun to drive. No longer the sole provenance of Burt Reynolds wanna-bes, these are legitimate collector cars in their own right and this 1978 Gold Special Edition Trans Am is a rare find that should turn out to also be a smart investment in the future. With just two owners from new, you know this is a special car. Add in the code 50 Solar Gold paint job and it becomes a relatively rare car, too. It was repainted in its original hue just before the current owner acquired it in the early 2000s, so it has the right look. It was obviously never wrecked or rusty, so major surgery wasn't required, but they do seem to have taken their time with the work. Gaps are even, the body surfaces are smooth and shiny, and the gold paint is exactly the right shade. Of course, a Trans Am wouldn't be complete without the bird on the hood, so new decals were installed throughout and they look sharp, crisp, and properly installed. And to be honest, the gold cars seem to offer a more sophisticated look than the over-dressed black ones, and it really works well. Details like the urethane nose, fender flares, and deck lid spoiler all remain in excellent condition thanks to a lifetime spent as a fair-weather toy, not a daily driver. The gorgeous "Camel" cloth interior is an unusual find in a Trans Am, and it was freshened with the paint a few years ago. Even the driver's seat looks virtually new, a testament to the quality of care this car has received since the work was done and the materials are a dead-ringer for the factory stuffAs a top-of-the-line Trans Am, this one is loaded with options like factory A/C (needs to be serviced), power windows and locks, a tilt steering column, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo system that replaced the original 8-track (which is included with the car). Perhaps most importantly, this car has three pedals on the floor and a 4-speed shifter on the center console, raising the entertainment level considerably. And a Trans Am just isn't a Trans Am without T-tops, with these fitting snugly and remarkably free of the usual squeaks and rattles, thanks to the low mileage. The trunk still carries its original mat as well as a space-saver spare that looks to have never been used. 4-speed cars in 1978 got a genuine Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8 which still delivered thrilling performance despite the federal regulations trying to kill it. It's quite original under the hood, nicely maintained and only a quick detail away from preservation-class judging. The air cleaner dominates the engine bay, looking like a scoop but actually inhaling through a standard intake tube, and the 4-barrel underneath still knows how to make horsepower. A brand new exhaust system highlights the undercarriage, which is mostly original and in good order, although not currently detailed for show. It rides and handles like low-mileage cars always do, feeling tight and well-built as it goes down the road. Classic "snowflake" alloys are fitted with 225/60/15 BFGoodrich radials, and they may just be only the second set of tires this car has ever worn. '70s Trans Ams with lots of documentation are red hot in the hobby right now, and few cars of the period were more iconic. Affordable today, but not likely to stay that way forever, so call now! 1978 Pontiac Firebird for Sale 1978 Pontiac Firebird for Sale Stock # 975-DFW Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Mon - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Mon - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Mon - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. Cars like this 1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula were affordable and fast, with hundreds of hop-up parts available in catalogs and magazines. So it shouldn't be a surprise that many of these cars were thrashed and left for dead when they finally gave up, and that's exactly why this incredible 29,108-mile survivor is so special, because it's just the way the factory intended and hasn't been abused. We'll admit to being partial to the Formula's clean shape and more understated look compared to the Trans Am, and with all the same go-fast hardware under the skin, it was often the weapon of choice for the guys who wanted to carry a big stick yet still speak softly. Combined with the gorgeous Medium Patriot Red paint, this car has a very sophisticated look that's less street racer and more grown-up performance car. It is indeed factory-applied paint that still looks fantastic given that it's now 20 years old (holy cow, has it been that long?!?) and by 1994, GM was doing some pretty good work in the paint shop. Fit and finish are OEM-grade with doors that fit well and smooth bodywork that hasn't been hit, and most of it is plastic so it won't wrinkle or dent. Blacked-out taillights offer a cool pattern when lit and the smooth nose shows functional air intakes that give it an aggressive look. This is one very handsome car! The gray cloth interior is just as well-preserved as the bodywork, and the low-key look suits the Formula just fine. The heavy bolsters will keep you in place as you explore the car's considerable handling limits and while Pontiac was still fascinated with buttons and dials that give it a jet fighter look, it's toned down a bit in the Formula so everything is easy to find and intuitive to use. Lots of options make this a no-brainer: A/C, power windows and locks, cruise control, power seats, a tilt column, and everything works like it should. The factory radio has been replaced by an AM/FM/cassette unit with a detachable face (remember those?) but since the face has been detached and misplaced, it's probably due for an upgrade, which will be easy. The seats, carpets, and dash are in excellent shape with no major flaws to report, and even the hatch area looks factory fresh. A Corvette-derived 350 cubic inch LT1 V8 provides motive power for the Formula, and these were truly cars to be respected on the street. GM under-rated them a bit so the Corvette could remain at the top of the heap, but internally they're pretty much identical so it's a very strong runner. Despite the myriad of high-performance parts available for these engines, this one remains entirely stock save for an SLP strut tower brace that makes a noticeable difference in front-end stiffness. The 6-speed manual is a very desirable feature on these cars and it barks the gears with positive shifts and a towering overdrive that gives it decent highway mileage and effortless cruising. The underside shows rather well and hasn't been driven in the winter, and even the stock catalytic converter and muffler are still in place. Factory chrome wheels are a clean 5-spoke design and carry recent BFGoodrich T/A blackwall radials. If you like these cars, the one to own is a low-mileage, unmodified specimen just like this. The fact that it's also loaded with options and offers an awesome color combination is merely icing on the cake.
