1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport Convertible: The GM A-bodied cars grew and got heavier, too, from 1968. The LeMans and downscale Tempest versions retained the OHC sixes and optional Pontiac V8’s, which were now bored out to a  GM-marketing standard 350 cubic inches. Yes, each division’s 350 cubic inch engine were their own in this era, and no parts interchanged. The top V8 for LeMans was a 320 hp version of Pontiac’s 350, except for station wagons. (Nobody  at Pontiac apparently realized the potential of having a near-GTO performance wagon for families). Pontiac certainly covered all the other bases for performance in this era of straight line speed, though. By 1970, even the Tempest  and Lemans could be had with Pontiac’s 400 cubic inch V8’s, with up to a 345 hp. Speed was king, and Pontiac was often on the top of the hill knocking off all comers. By 1971, a 455 cubic inch with 335 hp was optional, and the GTO was  once again demoted to option status. Emissions equipment and lowered compression ratios started to take a toll on the engine power of all manufacturers, and insurance companies looking at huge losses incurred by youthful drivers in  nearly 400 hp cars started to claw back losses by penalizing those most likely to have accidents with onerous rate increases. By 1972, the huge 455 Pontiac V8 could produce no more than 300 hp and the muscle car era was all but dead.  In fact, Pontiac even dropped their OHC sixes and simply used Chevrolet OHV sixes for those few customers who wanted a six in their LeMans. Any of the LeMans cars from this era are highly collectible, whether or not they are cloned  GTO’s. This beautiful Castilian Bronze Lemans is a great example from the collection of a local Texan who has some of the nicest 60's & 70's convertibles you can find. We've been fortunate to have had several exceptional classics grace our  showroom over the years. With regards to paint, this Pontiac has one of the most spectacular paint jobs we have ever seen! The photos don't even do it justice. Before making it's way to TX, this Lemans Sport spent several years on display in a PA Pontiac dealership's showroom. It arrived in TX with a straight body, zero rust, and strong original paint job. "Strong" just wasn't good enough for the TX owner so he commissioned the repaint in the original colors and photo  documented the paint work. The engine bay, trunk, and interior are all equally as impressive. The second major highlight of this beauty is that it still retains the numbers matching 400 V8 (4bbl) and Automatic Transmission it had from new. This was a rare find in a '71 Lemans Sport and combined with the Endura Front End and  Painted Sport Mirrors give this Lemans some strong GTO characteristics. Additional features and options on this Lemans that haven't already been mentioned include; Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Top, Convertible Boot, Factory AM/FM Radio, Chrome Rear Bumper, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, Center Console Storage, Rubber Floormats, Owners Manual, Protect-O-Plate, Full Spare w/Cover, Tire Tools, 15" Factory Honeycomb Wheels, and thick Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport G70-15 Tires! As you will see in the photos below, this is an exceptional classic Pontiac that can be purchased for only $36,988!  With the ""Buy it Now"" option you can own this beautiful Lemans now and receive FREE SHIPPING * to your driveway. Not only is shipping free but we will handle all of the shipping arrangements and provide  complete cargo insurance while in transit. 1964 Pontiac GTO Tribute: The GTO was the brainchild of Pontiac engineer Russell Gee, an engine specialist; Bill Collins, a chassis engineer; and Pontiac chief engineer John DeLorean. In early 1963, General Motors'  management issued an edict banning divisions from involvement in auto racing. This followed the 1957 voluntary ban on automobile racing that was instituted by the Automobile Manufacturers Association. By the early 1960s, Pontiac's  advertising and marketing approach was heavily based on performance, and racing was an important component of that strategy. With GM's ban on factory-sponsored racing, Pontiac's young, visionary management turned its attention to  emphasizing street performance. The first Pontiac GTO was an option package for the Pontiac Tempest, available with the two-door coupe, hardtop, and convertible body styles. The $295 package included a 389 cu in V8 rated at 325  bhp at 4800 rpm with a single Carter AFB four-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, chromed valve covers and air cleaner, seven-blade clutch fan, a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter, stiffer  springs, larger diameter front sway bar, wider wheels with 7.50 × 14 redline tires, hood scoops, and GTO badges. Optional equipment included a four-speed manual, Super Turbine 300 two-speed automatic transmission, more powerful  "Tri-Power" carburetion (three two-barrel Rochester 2G carburetors) rated at 348 bhp, metallic drum brake linings, limited-slip differential, heavy-duty cooling, ride and handling package, and the usual array of power  and convenience accessories. With every available option, the GTO cost about US$4,500 and weighed around 3,500 lb (1,600 kg). A tachometer was optional, and was placed in the far right dial on the dash. This beautiful GTO Tribute started life as a Lemans and was brought to its current stage in 2006. The most recent owner has over 20 Pontiacs and this vehicle was built and given to his son. The son needed money for a wedding more than a muscle car so now a lucky new owner has the opportunity take over as caretaker for this classic. This Pontiac needs very little and everything works like it should (except AM radio). We wouldn't hesitate to jump in this Pontiac and take a long Sunday drive. It still features its original 326 V8 engine but the original 2bbl intake and manifold has been replaced with a 4bbl set-up. It also features a 3 speed automatic transmission, upgraded front disc brakes, quick-ratio steering, heavy duty front sway bar, and factory A/C that blows cold. Additional features and options on this include; 3.23 Single Track gears, Center Console Storage, Rubber Floormats, Factory AM Radio, Vent Windows, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Dual Exhaust, 14" Spinner Hubcaps, and Goodyear Whitewall Tires! As you will see in the photos  below, this is an exceptional classic Pontiac that can be purchased for only $24,988!  With the ""Buy it Now"" option you can own this beautiful GTO Tribute now and receive FREE SHIPPING * to your driveway. Not only is shipping free but we will handle all of the shipping arrangements and provide  complete cargo insurance while in transit. Why wait a week just to be out bid at the last second by another bidder? We sell 90% of our cars with the low "Buy it Now" option. This classic Pontiac is not a vehicle you are going to find at your local dealership. Reserve is set just below the "Buy it Now" price. Why wait? "Buy it Now" and get your new '64 GTO home safe and hassle free! If you are local or have your own transportation arrangements, we may accept a slightly lower offer. * USA - excludes; Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, & Maine. International - Buyer will receive $500 USD shipping discount. DAYS / NIGHTS / WEEKENDS / HOLIDAYS: Call Brian ANY time for further details at (832)606-9952.

1970 Pontiac GTO: The start of the classic "muscle car" era is often dated as the moment the 1964 Pontiac GTO went on sale. Hey, it's as good a date as any, but it's not as if Pontiac's "Goat" was anything  particularly original. The American love affair with V8 engines was already at least 32 years old (back to when the 1932 Ford, the first affordable V8, was introduced), and midsize V8-powered cars were available from every domestic  manufacturer. But what the GTO had was attitude — a bigger V8, hood scoops (phony ones), the rumble of dual exhausts, a Hurst shifter, racy trim and a name stolen from Ferrari. The 1970 GTO could be had with engines displacing up to a  full 455 cubic inches. The basic 455 was rated at "only" 360 hp, but it made a stout 500 pound-feet of torque. That's more twist than in any previous GTO, and other driveline components were strengthened to withstand the punishment,  including the adoption of GM's "12-bolt" rear end. As the 1966 GTO's body was a revision of the '65's, so too was the '70's an extensive reworking of the '69's. It had the same dimensions and window shapes, but was more voluptuous in  the details. The new front end took the four headlights out of the grille area and set them in deep bezels to either side. The front bumper continued to be made of the color-keyed Endura material. This beautiful Sierra Yellow GTO is a great example from the collection of a local Texan with over twenty 60's & 70's Pontiacs in his current stable. While many of his Pontiacs get receive full restorations, others with great potential get "cut loose"  early to fund other projects. While some of the current components are not original to this GTO, it is a very solid and straight example that is ready for use as a daily driver today. And by "daily driver" we might further clarify that title by correctly calling it "...daily driver that can smoke the tires all the way down the street!" While born with a 400 V8, this beauty is now powered by a 455 with "96 heads." The original 4 speed has be changed to an  automatic transmission tied to a 9" stall speed converter and a 3.73 posi rear end. When you put your foot into the gas, it does what a muscle car is supposed to do ...scream! There is not currently an A/C system although the vehicle was  plumbed for one on the assembly line. The Ram-Air hood is nothing more than a character-building decal. It is not shown in all the photos but we recently replaced the B&M shifter with a factory console and shifter. This Pontiac needs very little  mechanically and everything works like it should. We wouldn't hesitate to jump in this GTO and take a long Sunday drive. Cosmetically you can see the rear seat is stained, the carpet is aged, there is a scratch on the endura nose, etc. These simple fixes paired with the non-originality of the drivetrain is why you are looking at a $25k price tag instead of the current valuations of $60k+ offered by Hagerty, NADA, and KBB (booked as a 400/4 Spd). Additional features  and options on this GTO that haven't already been mentioned include; Power Steering, Power Brakes, Hood Tach, Clarion AM/FM/Cassette Radio, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, Dual Exhaust, Original Owners Manual,  Protect-O-Plate, 15" Rally II Wheels, and thick P215/75 R15 Tires! Tires! As you will see in the photos below, this is an exceptional classic Pontiac that can be purchased for only $24,988!  With the ""Buy it Now"" option you can own this beautiful GTO now and receive FREE SHIPPING * to your driveway. Not only is shipping free but we will handle all of the shipping arrangements and provide  complete cargo insurance while in transit. This classic Pontiac is not a vehicle you are  going to find at your local dealership. Reserve is set just below the "Buy it Now" price. Why wait?
