1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda. Whether engaged in a bench racing session with fellow enthusiasts or pouring over a fender tag,dog eared red book in hand,numbers mean so much,in so many ways, in the world of muscle cars. Here are some interesting figures to consider: Out of 55,499 Barracudas produced in 1970,only 18,880 were of the performance,'Cuda-designated variety, only 652 of which were hardtops equipped with the mighty 426 HEMI. Of course, only 284 came equipped with a four speed manual transmission. And finally, only 11 Four speed Hemi Cudas are known to exist combining Rallye Red paint with Red interior. Two features that make this incredible car an even more exclusive find are it's black vinyl roof and very desirable body-colored elastomeric bumpers,which by themselves lead into some interesting and obscure details: Plymouth made these bumpers available on all 1970 Barracudas,the front bumpers being offered in nine different colors and all cars equipped with colored bumpers also came with body-colored rear view mirrors.The only front/rear combination to be had came in Rallye Red, which was also the only color option that came with a matching Shaker Hood Scoop, as we see here. Ok here it goes........This was my fathers car which he always had a thing for volare and aspens and the slant 6. he bought it back in 2003 and it ran like a champ....ac was always an ice box and for him being an old school butcher from brooklyn cold is the only way to be! A few years ago he got sick and things went downhill so he wasn't physically able to work on this car any longer. He was in the process of trying to restore it and he was colllecting parts as you can see in the pic there are a ton of new parts and extras from other dodges like diplomat center caps etc.. Unfortunately he passed away last year and as much as id love to restore this car in his memory and take it to aqueduct race track and bet a few ponies or fight over a few parking spaces in brooklyn....... i just dont see it as feasible with my other projects and life itself. The last thing i remember him saying about the car mechanically was there was an issue with a wire behind the dash preventing from running that he couldn't physically access due to his condition so he asked me to do it but sadly i didnt have the time....(i wish i spent the time with him to do this).....for what its worth and you have parents or loved ones you don't see often try and make time! As far as condition, it doesn't run but from what i remember it will crank. when it did run the trans shifted beautifully and ac was cold as can be heat worked. it has power brakes and power steering as well. everything else is manual inside car like windows and locks. The interior has the typical volare issues the rip in drivers seat, (there were seat covers on it which always worked fine) and the typical dash cracks. keep in mind it is an east cost car so its not rust free but considering its age its got some potential. it can be a nice project for someone or even a parts car especially with all the new parts that come with it. Id rather see it go to a good home and get restored than go to a crusher or be parted out but it is what it is because i have no place to keep it........As you can see its on a tow dolly because i lost the place i used to store it and have no where else to keep it and that's the only way i can keep it on the street legally at this point. extras included with car used items ...random jacks and stands bottle jack, 3 what look to be stock volare hub caps, 2 other dodge hub caps,4 diplomat center caps, one brake master cylinder used, 6 headlights used, one radiator with hose used but no leaks,one gas cap, some other random stuff in a box, an extra carburetor. new parts in box include front brake calipers (both sides), front brake lines ( both sides), front brake pads, rear brake shoes, rear wheel cylinders ( both sides), 2 ball joints, universal joints, 4 shocks (front and rear), 3 or 4 oil filters, ignition swithc with key, blower motor, fuel pump, 2 fuel filters, ignition coil, receiver dryer, gas filler cap, and one more item i forget what it was. I can also arrange delivery within reason at your expense since its my tow dolly but, be reasonable im not towing this thing half way across country.
