Designed to combat the Mustang Boss 302 and Camaro Z/28 it emphasizes high-winding small block power and razor-sharp handling over brute force, and it totally works. This numbers-matching AAR 'Cuda benefits from an extremely high-quality restoration, which is only appropriate as it's among the most highly prized pieces of Mopar muscle. Refinished in its original Lemon Twist yellow, it's a high-impact E-body that looks like none of its other siblings. The blacked-out hood features a bespoke scoop and the strobe stripes along its flanks terminate in the AAR logo of Dan Gurney's All American Racers, from which the car draws its name. You'll also note side exhaust peeking out from under the car just ahead of the rear wheels, a critical part of the AAR 'Cuda look. This one also features a rear spoiler and a set of driving lights up front, completing the highly aggressive look. It was repainted just a few months ago by noted pro Darrell Wilson and the paint is absolutely show-quality in every possible way. Awesome gaps, super smooth sheetmetal, and crisp decals make it look showroom fresh. Actually, no 1970 Chrysler product ever looked this good and this one is truly remarkable. The interior was restored to the same exacting standards. New upholstery on the high-back buckets, a center console, and a full complement of Rallye gauges, including a tach, make this an awesome place to do some serious driving. It isn't flashy, although the woodgrained wheel adds an upscale flair, and unlike its Ford and Chevy competition, the AAR could be had with an automatic transmission, as is the case with this one. There's also an AM radio in the dash, but precious little else to slow it down, and the effect is clean and well-honed, an ideal weapon for combat on the streets. It's Spartan, yes, but the quality of the materials and workmanship ensures that it'll be a joy to drive and if you like collecting trophies, this car will probably do it for you pretty easily. Even the trunk is expertly finished using a reproduction mat and a proper space-saver spare with jack assembly. The AAR's powerplant was a 340 cubic inch V8 with Six-Pack induction, and this is indeed the car's original, numbers-matching engine. It's fully rebuilt and freshly detailed for show, including proper decals on the massive oval air cleaner, reproduction hoses and clamps, and even a yellow-cap battery. It's extremely fresh and crisply rendered, making it a shoo-in for competition and it even runs superbly, something you don't often get with show-caliber cars. It was rebuilt by legendary engine builder Matt Bishop, so you know there's a lot of talent behind it. The 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic is also rebuilt and while it's not numbers-matching, it is date-code correct and the heavy-duty 8.75-inch rear end was standard equipment. The underside is completely show quality thanks to a rotisserie restoration, and the floors offer just the right amount of overspray, proper finishes on the hardware, and just about everything you can touch is new. Restored Rallye wheels look great and carry reproduction E60-15 front and G60-15 rear Goodyear Polyglas tires, making the AAR 'Cuda the first production car to carry staggered tires. Documented with goodies like the original fender tag that says simply, "TRANS AM" plus an original owner's manual, this is one of the finest AAR 'Cudas in the country. Quite honestly, they just don't come much nicer than this. This is one of those cars that really needs a personal visit before you truly understand how nice it is, and if you're buying sight-unseen, please rest assured that this one is even better than it appears in photos. Gorgeous B5 Blue is this car's original color, and an extra dash of metallic was added for a wicked modern twist. The sheetmetal is laser straight and you can see how good the panel alignment is in the photos, with the doors seeming to disappear and the crease along the flanks looking sharp enough to have been painted on. No excessive graphics (although this car was originally an uber rare-optioned White Billboard car, should you wish to add that contrast), but the vented hood looks cool and the Go-Wing out back should have been standard equipment, because 'Cudas look naked without them. Hood pins, fog lamps, and proper 'Cuda badges were all reinstalled once the paint was dry and the chrome bumpers tie it off in grand fashion. This is just an awesome-looking car in every way. At first glance, the interior looks stock, but once you're behind the wheel you'll realize that those bucket seats are wrapped in black leather, not vinyl, and the factory Tuff Wheel got its own set of hides, too. New carpets, fresh door panels, and a pistol-grip shifter all give the car a correct look, although the blue glow from the gauges certainly transforms the car after dark. There are the usual auxiliary gauges under the dash, just below the AM/FM stereo system, which has big 6x9 speakers on the rear package tray. There's also A/C, which uses the factory vents for a clean look and performance is impressive thanks to new hardware working behind the scenes. The trunk is quite clean and tidy with a reproduction mat and new weather-stripping, so no worries back there. The engine is a snarling 360 cubic inch V8, and if you've been longing for a 'Cuda that can handle, this one fits the bill. With a long list of modifications, it'll run with the vaunted Hemi but once it's time to change directions, the lightweight small block just destroys the heavy Hemi. The engine was built for combat and features Keith Black pistons, a Lunati cam, an Edelbrock Performer intake and a big Holley to feed the high-winding small block. It's all bathed in trick gold paint with black finned tinwork, so it looks dramatic in the blue engine bay. It cackles and snarls thanks to ceramic-coated long-tube headers, and X-pipe, and stainless Magnaflow mufflers, and while you're looking around under there, check out the floors, which are as beautifully finished as the bodywork. The 4-speed transmission was rebuilt and powers an 8.75-inch rear end with 3.23 gears on a Sure Grip limited slip and it sits on a freshly rebuilt suspension. Gorgeous 17-inch Rally wheels are a cool trick with a vintage look and modern 245/45/17 Dunlop radials. This is an extremely impressive car in every possible way and comes with receipts, restoration photos, and an original owner's manual. This is a no-compromises 'Cuda that's ready to show and enjoy.
