Here is a really solid and tough 1984 Ford F-350 one ton Ford pickup truck with a 4-speed manual transmission, and I think a 427 or 428 gas engine. This truck has been in my family for quite a few years and has been a solid and dependable truck until the 460 that was in it had some mechanical issues. My Dad decided to put a different engine in it, so he pulled out the 460, and had a guy put in what I think is a 427 or 428, I’m not sure which. I don’t know the original mileage of the engine, all I know is the guy he bought it from told us it was a really solid, great running engine, but he wanted a different engine in his truck (maybe a diesel, I can’t remember), so he decided to pull this one out and sell it. The problem is, the guy who put it in for Dad was apparently not as good of a mechanic as he thought he was, because after the engine was installed, he couldn’t get it to run past a rough idle. (We think he did something to the timing.) It could be an easy fix, but I don’t know. Dad put a better bed on it, planned on getting the engine running and painting it so he would have a nice-looking, dependable truck again, but decided that he didn’t need a truck this stout and bought a ¾ ton Ford. As you can see, it even comes with a really nice Warn winch bumper with tow hooks, etc.. Also, the trim on the bed has been removed since the photos were taken, so the truck does not have the bed trim on it now and will be sold without it. Since the cab doesn’t have any trim the buyer would probably remove it anyway. The odometer says the truck has 64,727 miles on it, but since it starts over as soon as it reaches 100,000 miles, I am pretty sure it has gone over at least once, so I am not sure of the original mileage on the truck. Other than the engine problems everything else worked great on the truck when it was running. We pulled horse trailers, equipment trailers, etc. (it comes with a heavy-duty hitch), and it never made any noises. The transmission, rear end, front end, and transfer case all seemed very solid. It also has the optional dual fuel tanks, instrument gauges instead of idiot lights, a brake controller for trailer towing, and a few other options. Unfortunately, after sitting for a while, now it won’t even idle so now it needs to be towed or hauled on a trailer. From what I can see, the body has some minor parking lot dings and some dents in the front corners of each of the front fenders. It also has a small rusted through area on each side of the bed on the bottom rear corner on the outside and rusted through areas at the front of the passenger’s side floor board. Other than some tears in the outside edge on the driver’s seat, the seat looks pretty good, as does the instrument panel and the rest of the interior, other than the dash which, as is usually the case, is cracked. Fix the engine that’s in it (or put your own in), and you will have a very stout, solid truck. Take a close look at the photos, and if you have any questions, just ask. It comes with a clear title. Here is a 1984 Ford ¾ ton 4 wheel drive truck with a stock 6.9 diesel engine and a 4 speed manual transmission. This truck has kind of a unique story behind it. I bought it a couple of years ago from an older gentleman that, from what I was told, bought it in the early ‘90’s. He then proceeded to put tons of money into it. (He provided me with over $7,000 worth of receipts in parts and labor!) From looking at the receipts, it appears this work was all done in the mid ‘90’s. The truck, which had a camper on it at the time, was taken on a few camping trips and then parked. I talked with the son of the truck owner, and he said that after he quit going on trips in the mid ‘90’s, he didn’t think his dad ever drove it any farther than to the local grocery store or post office. He said he didn’t think his dad put any more than 10,000 miles on the truck since he bought it. About two years ago I bought it. I then removed the camper and flat bed, and planned on putting a longer, wider flat bed on it, but now my plans have changed, and I just need to find a good home for it. Now that you know something about its history, I’ll tell you something about the truck itself: I have only put about 2,000 miles on the truck since I have owned it. Below is a partial list of new and repaired parts that were put into this truck that have 12,000 miles or less on them: • Transmission & Clutch: New ring gear, clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing, etc. (I noticed that the steering wheel has cruise control on it, and there are some cruise controls under the hood, so I think the truck originally had an automatic that was replaced with a 4-speed manual. A couple of guys, however, told me that some manual transmission trucks also came equipped with cruise control.) • Brakes & Wheels: New shoes, pinion seals, wheel cylinders, axle seals, carrier bearings, races, etc. • Misc: Some new fuel hoses, bulbs, wipers switch, power steering pump, heater hose, u-joints, front drive shaft repair, right rear grease seal, glow plugs, starter, etc., etc. (There are lots of other parts that have been replaced or repaired, but you get the idea. As I mentioned, I do have the receipts for all of the work done.) It also has really nice Warn manual hubs on it, and a manual glow plug switch to extend the life of the glow plugs. (You only push the switch to turn the glow plugs on when you need them. They don’t come on all of the time like they would in a stock system.) Unfortunately, the previous owner parked it in a canyon where it sat for years and was only driven occasionally so now it needs a lot of work. As you can see in the photos, the floorboards are rusted out in places, the windshield is cracked from a limb recently falling from a tree, and the brakes work well but have a leak somewhere so you need to add fluid regularly. There is a small exhaust leak up near the engine, and there is a leak around the windshield on the driver’s side corner. Also, the transfer case works great except, for some reason, it makes an occasional clunking noise when pulling heavy loads up a hill. You can feel it make a small jerk when it does this. The transmission, front end, rear end, and 4x4 work great and don’t make any noises. The truck is currently not getting fuel to the fuel pump, so it does not run. It was running strong and smoke-free down the highway, then it suddenly started smoking a little, but then it smoked more and started cutting out while going down the road, so I parked it and asked some guys who know these older 6.9 diesel Fords what they thought was wrong. They told me it was probably a fuel problem and that the fuel lines, seals, etc., are old and probably need to be replaced. I was also told the fuel pump could be going. With this in mind, I put a brand new fuel pump on the truck, then I took the fuel line off where it goes into the fuel filter and had a friend turn over the engine while I watched. No fuel came through the line, so I am pretty sure it is what they say it probably is…a leak in the fuel line somewhere. Also, the last time it was running, I did notice a few drops of diesel dripping from somewhere under the truck, but I wasn’t thinking and turned the truck off before looking to see where the drips were coming from…not a smart move. If I could find the drips, it would probably be easy to fix and solve the problem. It could be an easy fix, but I am very busy with work and just don’t have the time to fix it right now and need the space in my yard. It also comes with a clear title in my name. Well, I guess that’s about it. The truck has had a lot of work done to it, but now it needs a lot of work again from just sitting. You can fix it up though and it would make a great truck. Put some sort of bed on it and get it running and you would be ready to go. It comes with a clear title in my name.
