1959 Nash Metropolitan - rare black & white, rust free - super cleanThe motor is strong, steering is solid (new steering box) new shocks, brakes are good, 3-on-the-tree tranny is smooth, shifts effortlessly. I drive it most weekends, the car rattles a bit when going over uneven pavement. I don't usually drive it on LA freeways, but it gets up and goes....to about 65mph. To be honest, it's not like driving a newer car, it's like driving a 57 year old vehicle. Fun, easy to drive, and quirky. A classic beauty that just gets better with age. This '59 has had some resto work done by the world famous Pit Stop in North Hollywood, CA. I have the repair order which details each and everything done to the car. This car has been meticulously maintained by me in the years that I have owned it. I keep it garaged, and have even entered it in a few car shows. Definitely a head turner and great on gas. Everything works, even the license plate light. Registration good until May 2016.Another added bonus -- extremely reasonable rate to insure this beauty. $131 per YEAR for a classic car policy.Serious bidders appreciated. Contact me if you would like to inspect the car or test drive. Car is also listed for sale locally. Please ask any all questions before bidding. I am not thrilled with the eBay photo quality. If you would like to see more photos, please ask.SHIPPING RELATED INFORMATION: Shipping will be the responsibility of the new buyer/highest bidder. We will not pay for any shipping related expenses. I will try to assist in any way I can. It is your responsibility to arrange for the car to get from me to you. 1962 Nash Metropolitan Convertible I purchased this car from the second owner and close friend of mine in El Paso earlier this year. This car has spent its entire life in the arid city of El Paso.... The car had been sitting in covered storage for 25 years prior to my purchase. The beauty of buying from El Paso is the incredible climate that has preserved the vehicle. The car had very little rust when I purchased it which I had professionally cut out and welded as opposed to using bondo or filler. The car is extremely straight and runs like a top! This car has recently undergone a restoration to make it a fun everyday driver! This is a beautiful example of a '62 Met that turns heads and gets thumbs up everywhere I drive. This car was such a nice example of a Nash Metropolitan that I tried my best to keep as much of the car original as possible. This is a super fun little car that looks and runs excellent! This is not a show car but looks awesome and would make anyone proud. Here is your chance to own this Rare Vehicle! 40+ Miles Per Gallon!!!!! Below is a list of some things I have done to the Car.................Brand New Paint Job (Original Berkshire Green and Frost White)1500cc Engine has been Tuned UpOriginal AM Tube Radio Works GreatAll New HosesExhaust WorkNew Thermostat and Water PumpNew Hoses and ClampsBrakes ReBuilt with New Master CylinderNew Clutch Master Cylinder and Slave CylinderElectrical Completely gone through(everything works)New Fuse BlockNew Tail LightsNew Tires (5)New InteriorNew White Convertible TopBlack Tonneau CoverNew Battery Fresh FluidsGas Tank Dropped and Cleaned w/ Inline Filter InstalledMany, Many other New Parts.......... As I mentioned earlier this is a beautiful Rust Free car that is ready to drive anywhere! I personally drive the car almost daily... Its a blast! With that being said the car is not a show car.... There are a few issues that could be addressed to take the car to the next level. The paint job is about a month old and looks great! The paint is single stage and the colors are original to the car. There are some minor flaws in the paint that can be noticed if you're inspecting with a fine toothed comb. I did not paint under the hood or trunk as I wanted to leave those two areas original. The engine runs very well and idles smooth. The rubber on the vent windows is extremely dry and needs to be replaced.... I am including a new set of rubber for both ($130 rubber). The passenger door sticks from time to time (I believe it needs the latching mechanism adjusted). The windshield wiper motor works intermittently. I have not addressed with the motor as I never drive the car in bad weather. The steering wheel is original and does have some cracks.... I left it original as I liked the look. It could easily be wrapped or replaced. This Car is Ready to Go!!!!! The car is a looker and needs nothing to enjoy right now as it is.... It could easily be taken to the next level if you desire. This car is extremely rare and will absolutely stand out among other classics. *Car is Tagged as an Antique and I have a Clear Texas Title in my Name Feel Free to Call or Text with Questions (512) 64four-7519 The car is located in Austin Texas 78756. I would be more than happy to assist with shipping at your expense. I have the Car Listed locally so I Reserve the Right to End the Auction early.

With a huge enthusiast following, they've become the smart hobby car for today's world, offering wonderful '50s styling in a compact package that's easy on the fuel as well as the eyes. This particular 1958 Met brings with it a long list of upgrades, including A/C. Let that sink in for a moment; someone spent a goodly sum of cash to make this little car a delight to drive. Now some experts might be able to find a few things that aren't quite factory, but the fact is the fit and finish on this car are light years better than original and befitting of a car worth four times as much. The jaunty two-tone Mardi Gras Red over Frost White paint scheme is original, but was only applied after the diminutive body was worked to really sparkle, and it really paid off. Check out how tight the door gaps are, how crisp the grooves in the window sill are, and how crisp the line between red and white is across the hood. It's not quite perfect, but it's far, far nicer than a car at this price point has any right to be. All the chrome was professionally refinished, too, including the egg crate grille and unique bumpers. The car is tiny, no question about it, but you'll find that it's easy to get comfortable inside. The split bench seat has been upholstered in original style houndstooth fabric with vinyl accents, and legroom is good, even for six-footers. Dramatic black and white door panels almost look like modern art and the sweeping black dash is handsome as well as functional. All the relevant instruments are clustered ahead of the driver, with an auxiliary temperature gauge installed under the dash, along with the A/C. The AM radio is neatly integrated into the dash just above the ignition and offers big, easy-to-use knobs, although it is sadly not functional. New black carpets, seat belts, and new floor mats help it feel comfortable and quiet inside and while there's a back seat, it's probably best for storage or small children. With the spare tire stowed on the outside of the bodywork, the trunk will easily swallow a weekend's worth of luggage. The Austin A90 donated its 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 50 horsepower. Bearing in mind the car's modest size and weight, performance is energetic and you'll find yourself zipping around corners, one of the many benefits of the lightweight design. The engine wears correct green paint on the engine itself and properly finished accessories around it. A 1-barrel Zenith carburetor handles induction chores and a reproduction exhaust system gives it an authentic sound that's sporty without being annoying. A long list of upgrades include an electric fuel pump, modern GM alternator, new engine and transmission mounts, rebuilt brakes, and a new fuel tank out back, so it's ready to cruise. The three-speed manual transmission shifts nicely thanks to new bushings and the rear gears have been changed from 4.22s to 3.90s, so it's pretty comfortable on the highway. You'll also be pleased to note that tires are diminutive 155/80/13s, which ride well and are incredibly affordable, making this a hobby car that's easy on the wallet now and in the future. A lovely little car, this Nash is way out at the far end of the quality scale with no hope of recovering the restoration costs. What that means is a big score for the lucky new owner, who gets to enjoy one of the best for a fraction of the cost. 1959 Nash Metropolitan 1500. Stock original in documented storage since 1974. This car has not seen rain, water, or the road since 1974. It's a 2 owner, 56,000 mile original and it looks and drives like the super original car it is. It is not perfect, it was a high schoolers car so it has some dings and scratches, and dirty interior. It was bought new in Glendale, still wears the dealer license plate frame from DON RICE GLENDALE RAMBLER and has been in the San Fernando Valley since new, always a CA car. Since removal from storage it has had new correct radial white walls installed, the gas tank was removed and cleaned, New: fuel pump, lines, hoses, brake and clutch master and slave cylinders and hoses, new wheel cylinders, new radiator hoses, new battery and an oil change. 59 was the first year for the 1500cc engine, so it has plenty of power, and is a 3 speed manual shift. It is currently registered, all fees are paid, and it wears its original black and yellow plates. Has never had rust, nor any panel damage or replacement. Includes original owners manual, original jack and handle, 2 spare wheels, 2 sets of keys. Everything works as it should, lights, wipers, horn, turn signals, AM Radio, brake lights etc. it has only been lightly washed so it could be driven, this car will be amazing with a detail and some new weatherstripping. The right tail light chrome piece is cracked, and we didn't hook up the heater hoses. The padding in the front seat is dryer out and crunchy. May be the lowest mileage most original Metropolitan to be sold in a long long time. Come drive it, it's like 1959! I was the one who opened the garage door for the first time in 20-30 years and saw this car. The home owner had passed and the family was selling the house and this was in the garage, as seen in the photos. The whole house was a time capsule. I'm not a dealer, I don't do this for a living. I just find neat old stuff, keep some, and pass on the rest. My kids will be sad, you'll be happy. This car is the hit of the neighborhood and everywhere I drive it. All I know of these cars is what I've learned in the last month getting this beauty on the road. Parts are easy to get. So feel free to ask questions.

If you are looking for a Met to restore, or hot rod, this is the one for you. The previous owner searched for a rust free body and frame in order to have the right platform for a high level restoration. The only slight bit of rust on this car is on the surface. Floors, trunk, battery box, doors, and rockers are solid as a rock. A large portion of the floor and trunk still show the original paint. The vehicle has been disassembled for restoration. The 1500cc 4 cylinder engine, 3-speed transmission and the rear end are still in place. The engine has been rebuilt and has not yet been started. I have all of the parts that came off of this car with the exception of the radio. All of the glass is also in place, and only the windshield needs replacing. This is a 1959 model which means that it has the desirable trunk lid, wind wing windows, and larger 1500cc engine. The expense of rebuilding the engine is already done. All this for only $2500.Should you be interested in building a hot rod, I would be willing to cut the price as low as $1500 depending on which parts you do not want or need. I wouldn't mind keeping that new engine. Car has a clean California title and is currently in non-op status. I do not answer texts. Please include a phone number in emails, or better yet, just call me. Talking is so much easier than typing. 626 375-669three NO TEXTSThe car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this listing at any time. A $500 deposit will be required of the successful bidder within 48 hours of the close of the sale. Full payment is required within 7 days unless otherwise agreed upon by the buyer and seller. Buyer is responsible for the cost of shipping, but I am happy to work with whom ever you choose to move the vehicle. There is no warranty, implied or otherwise.

Despite its small size, it has a huge enthusiast following the wonderful '50s style, in a compact package, that's easy on the fuel as well as the eyes. The Metropolitan had American design flair with its full chrome front end and continental kit, but it's packed into a European size. That's what makes these cars so cool today. A series III model like this one is especially desirable because they finally added chrome down the side, which also provided for a dividing line to create a two-tone finish. This one carries its original Autumn Yellow and Frost White colors, but it has been resprayed to make this little guy shine his brightest. The British-built Metropolitan is small, but the people at American Motors knew they had to import something that was going to fit two of their countrymen without a problem. The white vinyl bench is roomier than the car's size suggests and the split back does a fine job of keeping the driver, and passenger, comfortable. It looks pristine and matches the white vinyl folding roof. The driver gets one large main gauge pod dominated by a speedometer, but since the car was sourced from Britain, it happens to be a Smiths readout. So just imagine the looks on people's faces as you compare this Met to Jaguars and Aston Martins. The Metropolitan is an interesting Anglo-American hybrid built in Europe, exclusively for the US-market by a US automaker. As a result, it carries a 1489 cc inline-four, built by Austin in England. It's a rugged little engine that delivers spirited performance in the lightweight Metropolitan. This was a popular motor in Europe, and so parts are still easy to find and inexpensive. Like a good frugal European, the fuel mileage generally hovers in the 30+ MPG range, making this a fantastic car if you're on a budget but still like to get out and drive. The three-speed manual transmission has light action, and with smart gearing, it cruises at 60 MPH without complaint, and without being buzzy on the highway. With a tight turning radius and nippy handling, this American Nash feels like a proper European import. Whether you're a Nash enthusiast or just looking to have some fun cruising the town strip, this little Met is sure to deliver loads of fun, and surely draw the attention it deserves.
