I’m selling my daily driver 2004 mini cooper, which has a clear and clean title. The engine has been regularly maintained, it starts immediately, it runs clean and smooth. The vehicle drove fine until recently, but now when the shifter is placed in drive or reverse the vehicle won’t move. I’m not a mechanic, but I was told the transmission needed to be re-built or replaced. The exterior shows the normal wear you would expect to find on a vehicle of its age. The paint is in good shape and still shines, but needs little waxing. The interior carpet, dash, door panels, seats, window glass and the overall upholstery are near perfect condition and free of cracks or tears. The head liner however has started coming loose and needs some minor attention. The air conditioning blows cold and the heater blows hot air. The electronics all work (i.e. radio / CD player works, door locks, electric windows, lights and dash instruments). The front tires are good and have plenty of tread left. The rear tires are are fair, but will need to be replace in the near future. This vehicle being “SOLD AS IS” “WHERE IS” without any guarantees or warranty, either expressed, implied or written. The vehicle will have to be hauled or towed from its current location at the buyers’ expense. The buyer is responsible for making all necessary arraignments and payments to have vehicle picked up, if they can’t take possession of vehicle in person. Since my ownership began in 2008, the car has been partially restored with around $10,000 spent on mechanical and cosmetic repairs and upgrades. (It's ok, I realize I'm underwater.) As a Mini enthusiast and purist, my goal with the car has been to maintain its original appearance and condition as much as possible and to keep it in reliable condition throughout the years. The car is in strong, drivable condition. The original 1275 engine with original SPI fuel injection runs very well. Rover introduced the fuel injection systems for Mini in 1992, and they are reliable, easy-to-maintain, and strong running. The engine provides smooth acceleration throughout the power band, and the car cruises smoothly at 70 mph on the interstate. The handling on the curvy roads is probably the best part. The brakes are modern and good: plenty sufficient braking for the car’s size. The car will attract admirers! The overall condition of the car will make you proud to be its owner. The car is not a show quality fully-restored classic Mini, but the car is in solid “driver” condition. The car is turn-key and ready to go. This car would be ideal for someone looking for a fun classic Mini as a “weekend driver”. The car is ready to participate in local British car club events, Mini club rallies, and the like. The car would also provide a great basis for a Mini enthusiast to personalize to his or her own taste. Features of the car: 78,953 mi. Right hand drive. New brushed aluminum dashboard in 2011. Fresh paint job and new bumpers in 2011. Replaced rear undercarriage and rocker panel bodywork in 2011 to like-new or better-than-new condition; no rust. Mechanical restoration by Heritage Garage in Costa Mesa, CA in 2010: new brakes, suspension components, heater core, radiator, fan, timing chain, clutch, and many other refurbishments. I have changed the oil at least every 3,000 mi. religiously during my ownership. The coolant was just changed in Oct. 2015. The 12-in. Falken tires have over half of the tread remaining (approximately 7,000-10,000 miles remaining). The car could use new CV boots. There are cosmetic hairline stress lines in the paint at the bottom of the A-pillars. There is a 2-in. tear in the driver’s seat fabric. The seats could be recovered with original fabric that is readily available from Newton Commercial to complete the interior restoration. (I simply never got around to it.) The car will come with an original owner’s manual, two complete sets of keys (to ignition, doors, boot, and gas cap), and service records since 2008. The car is on a clear TN title. We are selling to be able to have space in the garage for a third car for our daughter who is about to get her license, and doesn't want to drive a stick. This car features the system that puts on the brakes when you stop on a hill, and holds them until you start letting the clutch out so you don't slip backwards. Pretty impressive car. Plenty of power, even for me, a corvette driver. No disappointments.
