I have been adding some things here and there and have decided to keep it as a roadster, because it's more easy like this and fun. Also I live in Southern California. This is a restored 1969 MG Midget. The engine is original (block number matches VIN number) and has been rebuilt. The transmission. clutch assembly and rear end have been rebuilt. The car has been driven less than 200 miles since the rebuild. The exterior paint is new and the spoke wheels have been powder coated. The interior upholstery and the top are new and professionally installed. The speedometer and cable has been rebuilt. The original radio has been replaced with a Sony AM/FM/CD radio. The car is rust free and has been stored indoors. Includes documentation. The known defects include a turn signal that works but inconsistently when making right hand turns. The chrome has some pitting but mostly in good condition. The dash panel is the original stiff foam dash with a dent and a tear near the center of the windscreen. 1971 MG Midget Restored w/5-Speed & Performance Upgrades ......please be patient while the many photos load..... Stunning 1971 MG Midget for sale in Sonoma California. Purchased by one of my friends who was so excited to get it but so sad when he first tried to get into the car and realized there was no way that he'd fit! So he asked me to put it up for sale to another appreciative collector whom may actually fit in the car! This 1971 MG Midget has had less than 1,000 miles added to its lifetime 85k total since completion of a 2008 restoration. Built with autocross and fast road use in mind, the car remains matching numbers and runs a built, 1293cc A-series, Nissan 5-speed gearbox, upgraded suspension and more detailed below. Roughly $23,000 in receipts document maintenance and refurbishment, including a fully stripped and rust-repaired body. The car is now completely corrosion free, sorted and ready to drive. Purchased by the seller in 1982, it was driven regularly before being disassembled for restoration. Other commitments delayed the project for several years, with work beginning in earnest in 1999. Body and paint were completed by Brooklands British Car in Tacoma, Washington, with the remainder of assembly done at the seller's home over a several year period. An unrestored, factory hardtop is included, and the car rides on 72 spoke 4.5" wide wire wheels including a spare. Bumpers have been re-chromed. The interior is clean and remains largely stock with original seats and steering wheel. Reproduction carpets, door panels, and a re-covered dash complete the tidy appearance. Instruments remain fully factory and are in good working order, and Willans four point harnesses secure both driver and passenger. The soft top and frame are included but need work, and though a new tonneau, tonneau bag and vent window rubber are included they are not currently installed. The tonneau in particular will need modification, as it does not accommodate the roll bar. Engine specs include a large valve APT head, Kent 276 cam, roller rockers, Romac harmonic balancer, ARP fasteners throughout, APT lifters, Aldon distributor, Maniflow intake with standard 1 1/4 SU carbs, LCB header (both manifolds Jet-Hot coated) and APT exhaust. An alloy rocker cover dresses things up, while an engine stabilizer bar and balanced driveshaft reduce driveline harshness. Suspension consists of Frontline Spridget front and rear upgrades (link is for front components, see menu for rears as well), while brakes run new discs, rebuilt calipers and new hydraulic cylinders. Spare and unused original parts include a Speedwell baffled high-capacity oil pan (needs seal mount brazed), original 48 spoke wheels, rebuilt factory transmission, original head (also rebuilt), an extra block and crank, headlight relay kit, transmission reverse light switch kit, HIF6 (1 3/4) carburetor and manifold, stock driveshaft, original suspension components, wiring harness and distributor. Documentation includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and aforementioned receipts. The seller recommends replacing the center wiper gearbox due to an incorrect ratio, though the car is in good running and driving order as-is. Asking price listed on our site. Resurrected a beautiful 1962 MG midget and replaced front end with a cool Bugeye Sprite front end. Best of both worlds- Looks like a bugeye but has a trunk. Perfect for anyone who loves Bugeyes but doesn’t want to pay top dollar. Bought this car as a project to teach my kids how to work on cars. Lots of work done. You can see in the pics what it came from over the span of 18 months. It was a lot of fun but now time to move on to the next project. Not 100% done but pretty darn close and a pretty unique car. Here’s what has been done: Exterior · All body work completely redone. Should be solid for another 50 years. · New single stage paint. Could use a wet sand and buff. Or just drive as is. Looks fine for a daily driver but not show quality. Has imperfections. A real perfectionist would want to sand and respray. Mechanical · Brand new transmission with a one year warranty (January 2015). Shifts beautifully. · 1098 engine instead of original 948. Runs strong. · New water pump. · Replaced mechanical fuel pump with electric fuel pump. · Complete radiator system and coolant flush. · Steering system rebooted, greased and all rubber bits replaced in front end suspension. Electrical · Replaced generator with modern alternator. Now has reliable electricity in the car and plenty of it for anything you might add like a stereo. Also headlights at night no longer lose brightness when stopped at a light (since the original speedometer was mechanically driven from the generator, the speedometer is now just a decoration on the dash. Does not function but well worth it. Could always be returned to original). · Modern blade fuse box. · Complete rewire and new wiring harness. · New gauges/ switches where needed. · New headlights. · All wiring done professionally- very clean. · New battery. Larger than needed for this car but nice for extra power. Hydraulics · Complete overhaul of braking and clutch system. · Complete replacement of all drums, pads, springs, lines (soft lines)-both front and rear. · New brake/ clutch master cylinder. · New clutch slave. Interior · New seat upholstery. · New modern seat adjusters to replace original sliders. · Brand new Mona Lita steering wheel and custom wood door cards, custom wood rear passenger/ trunk divider and custom wood dash top trim to match. (speakers in pics do not come with the car but are standard 6” round) · Custom dash upholstery. · Herculined the entire inside of the vehicle to prevent any issues. Let it rain! · New floor carpet. · New roll bar installed. · New three point restraint system installed. Axles & wheels · New tires with only about 100 miles on them. · Rear Axles rebuilt. · Rear shocks replaced with modern tube shocks. Misc · It does not come with a top. I never left it out in the rain and didn’t want to drive it in the rain. It does come with the proper frame for the top and also the side windows. Both in good shape. If you decide you want to order a top you have the other important/ expensive parts already. The only other thing you would need are the little chrome clasps that button the top to the body. I removed the old ones for painting and they weren’t good enough to put back on. Holes are there still for easy install. · Lots of little rubber and chrome bits and parts that I ordered from Moss. Some ended up extra. Nothing of any great value but a nice little box of new bits & pieces is yours if needed. I will put them in a box in the trunk when it ships. Everything is good but If I were to keep it: 1. The paint as mentioned above. 2. Would get a real body guy to get the seams at the hood to body to be a bit tighter. 3. Would install hood props on both sides so that hood could stay up when lifted. 4. Would clean up the engine bay to make it more show ready and impressive. If you are looking for a car that, works, looks great and is going to be a lot of fun then this might be the car for you. This is a 52-year-old car and therefore, there is no warranty either expressed or implied. The car is sold "as-is". I will require a $500 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours after auction end. The remaining balance is due within 72 hours. Accepted methods of payment are: bank wire transfers and cash. I will accept Paypal but please make sure when using Paypal that you pay for the all fees associated with the Paypal payment. It seems that it would be well worth your time to go to the bank and do a wire transfer for what it will cost you to pay through Paypal. Car will not be shipped until all payments are cleared and fees paid. I will assist with shipping the car within the Continental United States only. All arrangements with transporters, including but not limited to, fees, shipping charges, other transportation costs and logistics scheduling are the sole responsibility of the buyer. I will not turn over the car to a transportation company without a bill of lading. The car is registered and insured in California. The registration will come with the car and serves as the title for the car and is transferable as such.
