This car marks the end of the 60's muscle car era. A lighter body and a slightly longer wheel base than the 71 and the reintroduction of the convertible option and XR7 are part of this two year production run, after 73 the Cougar was moved to a bigger sedan like chassis. This one owner car with registration history, service and maintenance records is very close to original. Clean, working power convertible top and power windows, cold A/C and am/fm radio. Small "dings" and could use fresh paint. Interior is original and intact. A sharp looking, fun weekend cruiser that gets a lot of attention! We've been through the engine, cleaned her up and made sure she's running good. Carburetor upgraded from 2 barrel to a stock 4.....of course we'll send the original along with the sale.

1979 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Special Edition- Chamois Decor - ONE OF ONE !!!!! We are selling this car because we have bought another, and need the garage space. We are not a dealer and own one too many Cougars. We discovered this car in Avon Park, Florida. It was custom ordered from the local dealer, and remained with the elderly owner until his death. He sold it to his neighbor, who later died, and we bought it from his estate. We have the paperwork and receipts from new. We obtained the Marti report and found that this is One of One Cougar XR-7 and only one of twelve with the moonroof / Chamois Décor option. It has the special color-keyed factory styled steel wheels in chamois. The car is in impeccable condition. It is like a time capsule to 1979. It is perfect in every way and everything works and runs as it should. It has one small scratch in the original paint shown in the photos. That’s it! It has not been repainted, and we detailed and cosmetically restored it by cleaning. It has no power seats or windows, as the car was special ordered this way. It has all new brakes and rotors. The tires have perhaps 1000 miles on them. We replaced the radiator, condenser, drier, compressor, fan motor. The a/c is ice cold. The carburetor has been rebuilt. The 302-2v runs and purrs perfectly. We installed a dual exhaust on the vehicle. We replaced all of the shocks. The only two things is the clock does not work and the temperature cable needs adjustment at the heater control box. That is the extent of anything this fine car needs! There are no signs of wear or discoloration on the carpets or upholstery. The moonroof opens and closes and seals perfectly as it should. This car is laser straight and never been in any accidents. The paint shines and glistens everywhere. The chrome is great. The underside photos show it appears like a brand new car. There are no defects. Everything is as original except the dual exhaust. Every sticker is where it is supposed to be from the factory. The vinyl roof is in factory new condition. The glass is perfect. We added a wind deflector on the moon roof that is easily removed. The glass has been tinted. Feel free to bid with confidence. Feel confident to drive this car cross country today. The car is show-ready and waiting for you to buy it. 1 of 1 per Marti Report with its original matching numbers (documented) drivetrain. All original sheet metal with no replacements. California (San Jose) sold and driven, never any rust. I am the third titled owner. Q code, C-6 Automatic, 31 spline 9" Traction Lock differential,Console, Power Front Brakes, Power Steering, AM - 8 Track Stereo, Air Conditioning. Original engine was rebuild but the rings have not seated after 150 miles and it smokes. Does not seem to affect the drivability as it runs like any 428CJ (very fast). The original Holley, intake and smog system are long gone before I purchased the car in 2005. All components for the A/C are present but not installed on the engine side. Interior is all new and perfect. Paint is gorgeous and is PPG basecoat/clearcoat. Car was painted like the factory, everything off except doors and decklid. All new brakes, all new fuel components (tank, line, etc.). Suspension and steering are mostly original and in fine working order.Car is in SW Florida and can be seen with a call ahead. I can answer any questions Car can be put up on a lift to inspect floors, trunk, drop-off's etc.239 776 9967 EST.

1969 Mercury Cougar XR7. 351 Windsor (In 69 and 70 the 351W heads had larger ports and valves) w/ 2 barrel carb. FMX automatic transmission (It has all the heavy duty internals of an MX shoved into the lightweight case of the FX to give you the best of both worlds when it comes to automatic transmissions.). Dual exhaust. Meadowlark Yellow exterior. Black leather interior. Aftermarket drag type wheels. New gas tank, turn signal switch. spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. The tires are in good shape, they have plenty of life left in them. The car runs, drives, turns, and stops very well. It usually starts on the first turn of the key. The transmission shifts incredibly smooth. I haven't had the wheels off to inspect the brakes. But, it stops great. There is no pull, or wobble, or squeaking, or anything of the sort. The paint is mostly original and heavily worn. The body is in good overall shape for it's age. It is very solid. It has surface rust in the areas where the paint is rubbed through, and small rust holes in the usual areas, like the rocker panels. All of the most serious issues with the body are detailed in the pictures. No rust underneath. The hideaway headlights, and sequential turn signals work. It would be an excellent starting point for somebody who wants to build 100% restored show quality car. It can also be driven around just like it sits, if that's more your style. This car is very rare. They only made 23,914 Hardtop XR7s in 1969. (For reference, they made 72,458 Mach 1 Mustangs the same year.) There aren't many of these left around. This one is a factory A/C car (doesn't currently work), which makes it even rarer. The Hagerty Price Guide lists this car's value as a condition 4 vehicle, at $10,925. A condition 4 vehicle (their worst on a scale of 1-4) is defined as follows: "#4 cars are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting or scratches, the windshield might be chipped. Paintwork is imperfect, and perhaps the fender has a minor dent. The interior could have split seams or a cracked dash. No major parts are missing, but the wheels could differ from the originals, or the interior might not be stock. A #4 car can also be a deteriorated restoration. "Fair" is the one word that describes a #4 car."The NADA Guides places the Low Retail price of this car at $9,775. A car in the Low Retail price range is defined as follows: This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior pain, trim and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable 'as-is'. This value does not represent a 'parts car'.Note: Some of the vehicles could be considered 'Daily Drivers' and are not valued as a classic vehicle. When determining a value for a daily driver, it is recommended that the seller use the low retail value. This is a good chance to pick up a rare 60's muscle car under the book value. I have a video of this car starting up, pulling out onto the highway, accelerating to 60MPH, and slowing to turn. Send me a message if you'd like to see it, and I'll send you a link. I'm willing to do anything I can to help facilitate shipping of the car anywhere in the continental US. If you don't already have a shipping company in mind, Uship is a pretty easy way to get some quotes.

1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 Bostonian Edition. 3.8L V6 with automatic transmission. Odometer inoperable so true mileage is unknown. Fully loaded model with cold air conditioning. Cloth and leather trim interior. Factory alloy wheels with 4 new Good Year tires. Recent oil change and transmission service. Car will start, run, drive and stop but overheats and was diagnosed by a professional as needing new head gaskets. Good opportunity for someone who is able to do the labor themselves. I also have it advertised locally so the auction may end at any time. Please feel free to submit an offer. Car must go. Local pickup only and would recommend a tow truck unless you are close by.

This is a beautiful two tone Cougar XR7 with only 37,500 miles. It has most options and they all work as they should (except the cassette player). Just had the car serviced, It runs and drives great, the a/c blows cold and the stereo sounds great. This car was owned most of its life by a 97 year old lady here in central Florida (hence the low miles). After going through the estate after she passed, I got the opportunity to purchase it. What a rare find. This car was always garaged and it shows it. The interior is as nice, almost no ware. No disappointments here. Any questions, please call or text me at 321-271-4280 Please check my feedback score, you'll see that I always describe my autos that I represent more than fairly. I always try to undersell so there are no disappointments. I noticed the pictures show scratches on bumpers-there are none. Sorry about the quality of the pictures.

This vehicle is in great mechanical shape and has had Amsoil since I bought it at 100k miles. It runs and drives perfectly. Lots of new parts including front suspension & brakes, good tires, battery, alternator, MAF sensor, and many other miscellaneous parts. Interior is clean and in good shape. The only thing it needs is a paint job because the sun has faded. It is a southern car and has no rust anywhere. Message me for more information.

1969 Mercury Cougar VIN# 9F93Q565965 First, for any interested parties I can tell you the exact history of the car and just about everything about it. I can send a ton for pictures to anyone asking. Jayson 239 776-9967 EST History, last to first: I obtained this car from in May of 2005 in Henderson, Nevada. Previously the car had been sold and used in San Jose CA. Second owner purchased the car December, 31, 1971 from a Ford Dealers used lot in San Jose. I am the third titled owner of the car. Documentation: Dash VIN, door warranty plate and fender apron VIN all are the same. There are a further two confidential VINS located on both left and right fender aprons once the fenders were removed. Two build sheets (identical) were discovered under the left and right side carpet in the back seat foot wells. Notice number 743 on build sheet is the same as the buck build line number as on metal buck tag. The body build buck tag is located on the passenger side radiator support. All of this is pictured. Marti Elite matches up on all documentation and lists this as a one of one for those that this is important to. I have the original California transfer of title signed by Jack and copy of vehicle registration from 1971. Pictures can be requested verifying all. Vehicle Particulars: As far as options, color and trim, all is listed in the Elite Marti Report including P/S, P/DB, A/C, AM/8Track, Traction-Loc, etc. All are original to the car and were kept the same during body, paint and interior work. In the photos of the car, there is an AM/FM radio showing. The original AM/8Track comes with the car, unrestored. Engine is the original 428CJ that was installed at the factory. Before I purchased the car, the smog system, intake manifold and Holley carburetor were discarded and not with the car. The rear of the block’s pad has a partial VIN of the cars last five serial numbers of this vehicle. C6 Transmission is the original unit installed during factory build. It is the correct cast iron tail shaft R-servo unit. There is a partial VIN stamping on top of the main body (last five #) matching this vehicles serial number. It was rebuilt and placed it the car when I purchased it. The 9” 31 spline is original to the car and has never been removed. I did replace carrier bearings, pinion bearing and seals along with axle bearings and seals. Suspension: Except for sway bar bushings, rear shackle bushings, and shock absorbers all the suspension components are original to the car and have never been replaced. Even the ball joints and control arm bushings are factory original and in good shape. Steering: As with the suspension, and except for the power control valve and P/S fluid lines, nothing in the steering system has been replaced from the factory, all appears to be original and working fine. Brakes: The rear brakes were original to the car and had never been serviced when I purchased the car. I Replaced all brake components including calipers, new rotors, all new rears, lines, master and power booster. The interior is in excellent shape with all wear components replaced. The leather seats front and rear were replaced and look very good. Original console refurbished and carpet was replaced. Original door and quarter interior panels were cleaned and installed, no rips or tears. Chrome interior and exterior door handles replaced. Paint and body: The body had never been wrecked or damaged and there has never been any rust. Body was reduced to bare metal and sprayed in epoxy primer. All PPG material was used, epoxy primer, filling primer, base coat/clear coat system. Windshield is new. Front bumper is NOS. Rear bumper is driver quality. All of the body panels on the car are original, nothing has been replaced. Even the battery tray was cleaned and used at it was perfect. Miscellaneous (the good): The upper and lower dash, steering column, steering wheel, all electrical harnesses, were refurbished. Even the felt lining the A/C registers (far left and far right of dash) have been replaced. The heater/AC condenser box was resealed and the heater core replaced. The lower dash was disassembled, media blasted and painted in the proper finish/color. The condenser was tested and kept. Engine now has a new Holley 600CFM, Edlebrock Street Performer and Petronix distributor; everything else is completely stock. Wheels and tires have less than 100 miles. All weather-stripping and rubber throughout entire car has been replaced except drivers vertical door strip. Original finned aluminum valve covers, AM/8 track tape player included along with original XR-7 hubcaps and the 428’s original distributor. Brand new exhaust at factory spec’s from WWWC. The original factory installed system was still on the car when I purchased it… it could not be saved. I believe the mileage showing (around 64K) may be correct but no guarantees. The lack of owners and other documentations does give pause. With the original wearing type of parts still on the car and functional, it does have more merit than most. Vehicle Needs (the bad): The rebuilt engine and transmission have approximately 150 or less miles on them. The engine piston rings have never fully seated and the lifters were not properly broken in and one making noise after warm up. The engine seems to exhibit the close to 400 hp it should be producing in stock form and doesn’t hesitate or miss on hard acceleration nor at idle or cruise. Regardless, the engine may need to be taken out and gone through sooner or later. Transmission shifts smooth and at the proper RPM. It is very firm on hard acceleration and breaks traction on the limited slip differential shifting from 1st to 2nd. There is no slippage anywhere in the driving range or reverse. I still need to install the kick-down linkage. New exhaust system has a leak at manifold to H-pipe. Right door interior light not working. A/C system from firewall forward is complete and original but not mounted or attached. The rocker panel trim is from 1968. The proper ones for 1969 are now available. The vehicle is in a climate controlled facility and can be inspected anytime during the week. A full garage lift is available for underside inspection, just need a 24 hour notice. No score buyer will need to call me. $500. Deposit required. If upon inspection vehicle is not as described, deposit will be refunded.
