Up for auction and for your consideration is a running 1964 Mercury Montclair, 25th Anniversary Edition. The car was purchased originally in Decatur Georgia from Ferrell Lincoln Mercury in Feb, 1964. To the best of my knowledge and according to the previous owner it has been a Georgia car all its life. I have had the car for a few years and according to the previous owner it has been in their family over over 20 years. We will be moving this year so I have to get rid of some of the vehicles I have. The car is equipped with a 390 C.I. engine with a 2-barrel carburetor and automatic transmission. It has the very rare and classic rear retractable window which is fully operational as you can see from the video I have included.The car is in very good condition for its age. The paint is original but is faded through in several places down to the primer. The interior is in very good condition with the exception of the carpet which will need to be replaced at some point. The seats and the headliner are in really good shape for a car of this age. and its obvious that the car has been stored indoors and has not been allowed to sit in the sun. The car is equipped with air conditioning which blows cold, as you can see on one of the videos the compressor clutch engages and disengages when the AC is turned on. The car starts well and the transmission engages as it should. It does not leak any fluids when parked. As you can see from the pictures that the trunk pan is solid and I tried to take pictures of the floor pans and they are also solid. The tires are in good shape and are not dry rotted and the brakes work as they are suppose to. This car is 53 years old and I hope you can see that it has been maintained well through the years. The engine does not smoke or clatter, if you remove the oil cap and the engine is running, there is no crank case pressure blowing out. However, with all that being said, it is still a 53 year old automobile and is being sold in "as is" condition and no warranty implied or stated. All the glass in the car is in good shape and all the windows operate properly. The drivers door does latch properly, I simply close the door and lock it and it stays shut until you open the door. All the other doors work at they should. The light switch is struck and does not pull out into the "on" position, I sprayed it with some WD40 but it still won't move. I found one on Ebay for $20 but I just never got around to buying it. With a little work, this could be a very nice car and very rare with the operating rear window. I have tried to take pictures and videos so that you could see what you are bidding on but PLEASE don't bid unless you want to purchase the car! I will be glad to work with you on meeting a shipper with the car or the car can sit in my garage for a while until you can arrange to pick it up. Lots of extra parts, manuals, vintage Mercury ephemera, original paperwork. It is registered, tagged, insured in Georgia and driven regularly. Still 6v. Lowered 2" in rear. Still have original springs and the stock carb/ air cleaner that come with the car. Also have stock steering wheel, extra hubcaps and 2 new water pumps. Tires only have a few thousand miles on them. Some surface rust on bumpers, rest of car is clean and solid. Paint has some scratches here and there. Steering column and shifter has been rebuilt. I originally bought this car in 1999, drove it for 4 years and sold it. Bought it back and started a big block project with it. The car currently has no engine or trans installed in it. What I have included are as follows, a matching set of 390 GT heads(fresh from machine shop/rebuilt), also a set of restored Mercury Lightning bolt valve covers, Big block engine frame mounts, big block z bar (fresh powder coated), a new 9" Ford 3:71 Ratio Posi-rearend ($1100)with a fresh powder coated housing (third member and housing not assembled yet., also a fresh powder coated trans tunnel shifter plate for the four speed, two front big block coil springs. The windows tracks have been redone, all the door glass is solid and not loose in the tracks, new weather strips in the doors and trunk, new rear glass rubber seal installed when headliner was replaced. I am sure there is some stuff I am forgetting to mention as far as parts included (other small items). It has a set of vintage American Torque Thrust Wheels 14x7.5 that are in real nice condition. tires are old and should be replaced. The tires are in good shape. A/C and heat both work well. It has some dents, scrapes, and the interior is a little worn. Other than that, the car runs good. Has current Georgia Emissions. Nice car, lots of new parts installed recently like shocks, brakes, all engine parts etc. unfortunately transmission broke as it does not shift gear in, so selling as is with bad transmission. New engine was replaced 6 months ago with 100K miles on it. New shocks, brakes, etc.. Bought this car with broken engine and fixed it all for myself but half year later car stopped shifting gears, took to mechanic he said it may be transmission or computer.
