RELISTING DUE TO BIDDER BEING OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND GOING THROUGH SOME THIRD PARTY COMPANY BEING INVOLVED AND MADE ME UNCOMFORTABLE. Up for your consideration today is my Diamond Blue 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL with parchment interior. This is candidly the rarest and in my opinion the best color combination for a R107 chassis. Now I can sit here all day and talk about 560's and what is important in buying one, where the value lies, ect. However, I'm not a salesman and won't pretend to be one. I've been collecting vintage Mercedes since back at my dealership days. Do I call myself a R107 expert? No. Have I owned over 50 560's? Yes. So, I guess I know a thing or two about them. This car is a all original paint, super dry unmolested example of what a 560 should be. Impeccable maintenance history. Absolutely no accidents of any kind. This car of course, like all R107's has both it's original hard too and stowed soft top, which I don't think was used much. Complete with spoons, tool kit, aluminum hard top carriage, ect. . From the Becker Grand Prix radio to the original Meischerchaft antenna. Only routine scheduled maintenance was done to the car. It is noteworthy that I had the timing chains and rails replaced as merely a precautionary measure. In my experience, these items are consumables. The plastic tends to degrade over time, not mileage. This is not a inexpensive undertaking. I think it is prudent that if you buy any 560, I would not consider one without chains and guides having been already replaced, by a reputable MB facility. This 560 has all of its' original glass, rubber is all very nice, ect. The car was purchased as part of an estate. When I bought the car it had been in heated storage for some time. I went through and exchanged all the fluids, ect. Please understand this is by no means a perfect car. It will need a little TLC, tires are old and dry rotted, upholstery could use a little time invested in it, in general, this is a low mileage mechanically sound starting point for your investment quality car. This is why this is not a $20k plus car. My reason for selling is that I have amassed a collection of over 30 SL's along with Pagodas, some vintage diesel Mercedes, ect. My interests have changed and I am investing in other endeavors. I have sold at least ten of my other cars on eBay, and have not had any bad luck yet, except for the gypsies and flakes. For sale is my 1979 450SL convertible with original AMG kit. Currently has 121,000 miles. White exterior with blue interior, Nardi steering wheel and rare 3 piece wheels. Overall the car is in good shape but does need some TLC. It starts, stops, idles and accelerates. I will describe the car in more detail below. InteriorInterior is in good shape. Leather seats have no rips or burns and color is still nice. On the drivers seat some plastic trim pieces are missing. The wood trim is there but started to get refinished at some point. All wood pieces are there including ashtray. The dashboard is cracked in several places. The door panels are in perfect shape. Carpets are clean. Windows are all good with no cracks. Heat works great, AC does not work. ExteriorThe exterior has been recently been repainted a metallic white. It looks great but not perfect. You can see some minor imperfections but overall i'd say its nice, no rust or anything like that. No dings or scratches. The wheels and tires are in great shape. I put 4 brand new tires on it a few weeks ago. All lights, wipers, windows work great. It has a blue soft top. It is in good condition with no rips or tears from what I can remember. Engine and suspensionThe engine seems to have a small misfire. When I start the car when its cold and press the gas it seems to choke a little. Once the engine heats up it runs pretty good. Still has a misfire but accerates good. The muffler in back seems to have a hole in it, it's not loud but louder than usual. It seems to have a short somewhere also, if i leave the battery on it won't have juice to crank in the morning, I think its from the radio since it sometimes gets static over bumps but I have not had a chance to look at it.Shocks seem ok, brakes are good, tierods could use replacing. Overall the car seems to be in good condition. I bought this car a while back to take on as a project but funds and space are limited at this point. With winter coming I ould hate to leave it outside in the snow. With a little work this car can be brought back to it's original beauty. Please email me with any questions that you might have.
