Looking for a nice one? I am an enthusiast owning many classic M-B cars (see 7 of them in my wedding in 2010). This E500 Sport Wagon has been my daily driver for 4 years and I have just replaced it with a similar, newer version. This car has been exceptionally well-maintained and is a 2-owner car with a clean Carfax and accident-free history. Color is pewter with an ash interior. What is an E500 Sport Wagon? Selling for over $67K in 2004, this model is the top-of-the-line for the E-Class series. It's 5.0 litre V-8 screams from 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, and the 4-Matic all-wheel-drive system makes sure that the wheels wont be spinning. As a rocket-ship grocery-getter, this wagon will provide driving confidence, since the dynamic seats have automatic-inflating side bolsters to make sure you don't slip off your seat as you take those hairpin turns on the way to Walmart. The leather seats are both heated and cooled for your comfort, the seats have an adjustable pulsating back massage feature for those long trips, and the steering wheel is heated. Take a close look at the Avant Garde Sport Appearance Package that includes nicer 5 spoke wheels, ground effects such as the extended front spoiler, birdseye maple interior wood trim, and white-faced dash gauges. If you decide to put a hitch-mounted bike rack on the car or pull your jet ski to the lake - as I do - the frame-mounted factory style hitch is there - and you wont likely find that on other E-class wagons, as it was a European option only. Third row seating keeps the kids in the back, and unlike most SUV's, the entire cargo floor behind the front seats goes flat when all seats are down, so you can slip a few 2x4's inside along with a 10 foot long piece of pipe for your home improvement project. DVD-type navigation and the Harmon-Kardon Logic7 Premium Sound System make for an enjoyable experience, and there is a jack in the glovebox for plugging in your smartphone or MP3 player to feed through the audio system. Thanks to its air suspension system this wagon has user-adjustable suspension damping and ride height adjustment, along with self-leveling for a perfect ride with a heavy load in the cargo area. Gas mileage is consistently 22 MPG on mostly highway use, and 17 MPG around town. Pulling a light trailer makes little difference. Insurance is reasonable and parts cost on this model is less than many. I perform regular maintenance on my vehicles and have a lift in the garage to do such. Most major systems on this car have had recent upgrades or replacements as would be expected for the age and mileage on a well-maintained car. Air shocks, most front end parts, brakes and tires were replaced in the last 3000 miles. Both batteries and and air pump were replaced in 2012; M-B replaced the SBC brake controller in 2014 under warranty. Some fuel system components remain under an extended factory warranty and M-B pays for towing and roadside assistance during the life of the car if serviced by an M-B dealer. Interior is nearly spotless and exterior has had paint refinishing as needed. All systems on the car work as they should and no current maintenance is needed. Wheels have no curb rash and their original paint has only minor imperfections. Books and records accompany the car along with both keys. I purchased this vehicle from an authorized M-B dealer in 2011 and have driven it for 50K miles since; it has never been abused or had track use. Has never been smoked in.
