Up for sale in our Houston showroom is one gorgeous 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE. Referred to as the Mercedes-Benz W108, these models filled the full-size luxury car class from 1965 through 1973. The cars were successful in West Germany and in export markets including North America and Southeast Asia. During the seven-year run, a total of 383,361 units were manufactured. Mercedes-Benz model nomenclature in the 1960s is difficult to follow once the tailfins disappear. The W108 and W109 family of sedans can mostly be recognized by the grille and front fenders from the 1961 W111 design, with cathedral headlights in the European versions, which were replaced by vertically stacked 5-inch lights in the U.S. The 280S, 280SE and 280SEL %26acirc;?\" \"L\" is the long-wheelbase version %26acirc;?\" all have Bosch fuel injection and gained four-wheel disc brakes. The hood and grille were lower by a couple of inches giving the car a more modern appearance. The 2.8L I6 was introduced in 1968 and gained a following with its generated 180 horsepower, especially when sitting beside the four speed automatic transmission. This 280SE happens to be equipped with that exact numbers matching drivetrain. The exterior of this gorgeous car is coated in Arabian Grey while the interior is a Red vinyl, the two colors mesh together really well. The options on this Mercedes-Benz include: a/c, am/fm radio, power brakes, power locks, power steering, power windows, seatbelts, radial tires, vinyl interior and a numbers matching engine/transmission package. This 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE four door up for sale can be viewed along with over 90 HD pictures and video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com.
