The car does start but no longer runs as smooth as before. This is a used 1989 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL with the odometer stuck at 196,071 miles. This is a used car and there is no warranty, is sold as it is. Feel free to contact me: 786-344-0842 and pass by to check out the car with your mechanic. I stopped driving it about 2 months ago so the battery is dead now. If you have any question please send me an email, I will answer all questions and send extra pictures if needed. In automotive history, a few cars bring strong emotions every time someone sees them. One of those in my opinion is the Mercedes Benz W123 wagon. Combine German reliability, safety innovations, economy, sport handling, utilitarian interior and features with an elegant and tasteful and now timeless Italian design (yes I said Italian, as Bruno Sacco was head of Mercedes design during the W123 development) and you have the iconic Mercedes diesel wagon, the W123 300TD. My 1982 featured in this auction was purchased and restored for a particular purpose, a project which has now been cancelled and this is what has me considering selling this car. Located in Miami Florida While I wasn't trying to win any shows, whenever I do drive this car in the US, I get compliments daily, even yelled by passing bicyclists or drivers across lanes of traffic. I am not a mechanic but I have owned many German diesels and will attempt to describe everything to be best of my ability. No 33 year old car is perfect and if you are seriously considering buying one of these one of the most important questions is what has been replaced. These can basically be completely rebuilt due to the strength of the components but if you are looking at an all original or unmaintained vehicle you are in for a long road. NEW or replaced in the last year or so: NEW CARPET AND INTERIOR IN MB TEX. NEW PAINT. Rebuilt crankcase. New valve cover gasket and valve cover from the local dealer. All new brakes and calipers. Suspension including air and front shocks. Wheels repacked 2 years ago. AC, although it is still not good enough for 95 degrees in the US. Radiator is new as well as many fans belts and hoses. New wiper arms and blades. 5 nearly new tires. New windshield seal. Runs very smoothly and uses little fuel. Steering, brakes and suspension ride like a new car. Transmission upshifts and downshifts nicely. New sunroof seal. New Steering Box. New upgraded alternator from S Class. New OEM battery. Needs attention One speaker wire is buzzing sometimes, and the bluetooth mic doesn't work well at all. Odometer, tachometer and fuel gauge are frozen. I have a new odometer uninstalled that I can include, this is very recent. Dash cover should go, but dash under is cracked. Wood is cracked. Some minor water leak in a car wash right rear window. Exterior windows seals and chrome old and show it. Needs the touch of a good body man and perhaps new strikers as some doors need to be slammed. A little rust bubble spots although when it was painted last year any rust was removed, including some on floorboards which was completely repaired. Sunroof latch is lose. May need additional valve adjustment eventually as one still has that hammer tap sound in addition to the normal dieseling.
