Engine meticulously maintained by the best mechanics. Back east that was renowned Miata guru Seth Goodwin at Dealer Alternative. Here in SoCal I've been pleased with Hiro in Costa Mesa (also a Miata owner/racer). Upgrades include Koni shocks, Jackson Racing Stainless Exhaust (which makes Miata exhaust music to the ears), Jackson Racing Adjustable Anti-Sway Bars, Boss Frog Rollbars, and a fantastic feeling Momo Competition Steering Wheel (feels odd at first because it's FAT, but then you come to love it). With all this maintenance and handling goodness I did a few autocrosses and tracked the car at Buttonwillow & Laguna Seca (where racing veterans tell you to drive directly at the giant tree while the car dips, just before that sharp right hand turn that comes before the treacherous left before the deceptively articulating not really straight straightaway... a blast!). As of this writing the car has 147, 234 humming & fun miles.Falken Ziex shoes, which are good both dry and wet, though wet hasn't been a concern for a while now here in sunny SoCal, or anywhere in globally warmed California for that matter. Lots of tread left but when you're ready to replace them put some Falken Azenis on and see what this car can do. Radio mostly doesn't work. Sometimes I think it depends on the weather. I like listening to the engine, exhaust note, and wind whooshing by better anyway and never bothered to fix it.AC needs a recharge. Again, I haven't bothered to use it in a long while. The body paint is worn in places from sun exposure, mostly up front. The interior is in original condition except for behind the seats where we did the Boss Frog installation. The top could use replacing. Since the car lives in my parents' carport when I'm not visiting and driving it, and I never have the top up anyway, I never replaced the top. Which leads me to why I'm selling it. This car is meant for play, for cruising winding canyon roads with the top down, for recreational racing including taking it out on the track (legal with the Boss Frog bars, and this car would be an excellent candidate for spec miata conversion if you want to get serious about it.) It is a joy to drive. I've driven high-end Audi's, BMW's, a Porshe 911 and most recently a Ferrari 458 Italia. The Miata is the most fun of all (though the 458 Italia is in an experiential category of its own - impossible to compare to, kind of like an out-of-body experience). Instead, my last drive in the car was to Costco while visiting my parents, who I can't take out to lunch with this car (at least not together, and even if it's just one of them it's now hard for them to get in and out of the car). I need to get something with 4 doors that they can get in and out of. This is going to hurt, but I'm selling my beloved Miata. Hope its new owner will give it the attention it deserves, and goes out and has fun.
